EU Looking for a phone around €600 – camera + battery are my priorities

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a new phone around €600 and I’m having a hard time choosing.

My priorities are:

  • Very good camera – especially for taking quick photos of my kids. I often just take the phone out, take a few shots and put it away, so fast and reliable point-and-shoot photography is important.
  • Battery life – it should comfortably last a full day. I charge the phone every night, so I don’t need 2-day battery life.
  • European distribution / official EU version
  • Clean/light Android skin – Xiaomi is out because I really don’t like its software.
  • Good overall everyday experience. Gaming performance is not particularly important.
  • A smaller and lighter phone would be a nice bonus, but it’s definitely not a must-have.

At the moment I’m considering:

  • Google Pixel 10
  • Vivo X200 FE
  • Vivo V70
  • Oppo Reno 16

I also considered OnePlus, but I’m a bit concerned about the company potentially pulling out of the European market, so I’m hesitant to buy one right now.

I’m open to other suggestions as well.

Thank you.

EU Need your advice on changing my smartphone

Need your wisdom to choose an Android for me. I have IOS for 10y and now I want to switch to an Android phone. Im looking for a smartphone to keep for at least 4 years with good camera, great battery and excellent performance for the long run, and few years of software updates. I use it for youtube, netflix, photos and gaming (occasionally).

Budget around 900€ (i live in EU).

Should i go with Oneplus (15, 13 or 15r) or Oppo find x9 or Xiaomi 17?

EU What actually matters more to you when choosing a phone? Camera, battery, or speed?

I test smartphones and I’m curious about real buyer priorities here.

When you’re choosing between phones like Samsung Galaxy S series, Pixel or other Androids, what ends up being the deciding factor for you?

Camera quality?

Battery life?

Performance?

Software support?

Something else?

EU Realme GT8 Pro vs Oppo Fx9 Pro vs?

I've been using Xiaomi 13 for roughly year and a half (bought it used, but in a mint condition). Like a lot of people, I've been having bad luck with HyperOS 3: poor battery life (started right after software update), occassional stutter and notifications don't always show up. I've started about replacing it, priorities are battery life and 2 nano sim slots (esim is not important) and street photography capabilities (main selling point of Realme to be fair)

So far I've looked at CN versions of Realme GT8 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro. Trying to stay at 600€ budget, preferanly lower. Located in EU. Looking for experiences with these models, as well as reccomendations for other models. Samsung is a no-no, so is Xiaomi.

EU 256Gb/12Gb performance focused

Help me choose a phone. I'm replacing a very old phone, I'm in the EU. Budget can be a bit stretched but I prefer bang for buck.

I need minimum 256Gb storage and 12Gb memory.

I'm thinking about the Poco F8 Pro, but would love alternatives.

I game occasionally, but I'm not looking for a gaming phone. I do however use the phone a lot for work, so I need something fast, without major bugs, and good for a couple of years.

I'm located in the EU, and I would rather not have to deal with chinese incompatibility issues.

I'm worried about the Poco because I've read about Wi-Fi issues, and poor Wifi6 compatibility. I don't have wifi7 so that's an issue.

What do you propose?

EU Xiaomi vs Google vs Samsung

Do you have any opinion about these options? Perhaps you own one of these.

Xiaomi Poco X8 Pro Mac 512GB/12GB (€479)
Google Pixel 10a 128GB/8GB (€499)
Samsung Galaxy A57 512GB/12GB (€485)

I did some research already, and on paper it seems like you get good value from the Xiaomi. But then you have a Chinese HyperOS with 4 major updates, as opposed to 6 and 7 from the others.

About the Google Pixel 10a, it seems like they are economising on the chipset/storage/memory, but then you get 7 major updates and a non-Chinese managed OS.

With the Samsung, you also get a bloated OS, like Xiaomi, but you get good specs... other than the chipset which seems to be the inferior one among the 3.

I was also considering the Nothing 4a, but for €449, and you only get 3 major updates. And I'm not someone who changes the phone often. I've had a OnePlus 5 for the last 10 years.

I'm in the EU by the way.

EU Upgrading from Pixel 7 Pro: Pixel 10 Pro XL vs Xiaomi 17 Ultra vs Vivo X300 Pro?

Hey everyone,

It's time to upgrade my Pixel 7 Pro. Honestly, I really love my current phone, which is why the Pixel 10 Pro XL was naturally my first choice right out of the gate. I’m a big fan of the clean, stock Android experience.

However, I highly value a great camera. That's the main reason I started looking at the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Vivo X300 Pro, since their camera hardware seems to be on another level compared to Google.

Here is where I'm currently stuck:

  • Pixel 10 Pro XL: The safe bet. I know I'll love the software and the reliability, but I feel like I might be missing out on the crazy battery and camera specs of the Chinese flagships.
  • Xiaomi 17 Ultra: I actually had a Xiaomi before I switched to the Pixel. I was pretty happy with the phone itself, but the system ads drove me absolutely crazy. A friend just told me that thanks to the new EU regulations, you can finally disable the ads and delete the bloatware. If that's true, my biggest issue with Xiaomi is gone. How does the OS feel nowadays?
  • Vivo X300 Pro: The camera and battery specs look insane, but I'm really hesitant about OriginOS. I keep reading it feels like a heavy iOS clone and kills apps in the background. Is it really that annoying to use daily?

Has anyone here made the jump from a Pixel to one of these? Should I just stick with the clean software of the 10 Pro XL, or is the hardware upgrade on the Xiaomi/Vivo worth it?

Any real-world experiences would be super helpful. Thanks!

EU help me pick the best *camera* phone

So, I'm a photographer with a tight budget and I want a phone that can deliver good quality photos, without AI slop compensation. I prefer a wide aperture over hundreds of MP. My current phone is a Huawei p20 pro which has lasted me for more than 6 years (battery life has become insufferable unfortunately, charging it 3-4 times/day with heavy use). If I had the money I'd probably get the latest pro iphone, but again, battery is quite important to me and iphones are not battery beasts. My budget is 600 euro max and my region is the EU

I'm considering the following ones

  1. used/refurbished iphone 15pro/16pro (hard to find with new batteries within my price range)
  2. Xiaomi 15t pro (€530) (read bad reviews about OS and battery life)
  3. Honor 400 Pro (€500) (unnatural processing?)
  4. Oppo Reno 14 (€480) (battery drain?)
  5. Xiaomi Poco F8 Pro (€480) (camera meh?)

I'd prefer a smaller phone over a larger one since my hands are quite small and one that doesn't overheat because I live in a country with hot summers. I've watched pretty much every youtube review and read every camera review article I could find, examined closely large jpegs etc but i'm still undecided, because some reviews are biased and others are praising phones with ai capabilities, not actual lens quality.

So, i'm waiting to hear your suggestions :)) Thank you!

EU My 7yo Huawei is dying, now considering switching (maybe to Motorola)

My 7yo Huawei is dying, thus I'm looking for a new phone which doesn't cost me the world. On my search I've seen a lot of Motorola phones but since there are so many out there (not only Motorola, but yeah, them too) I need your help in finding a fitting one (tried a Xiaomi but it didn't resonate with me). Doesn't have to be a Motorola though, so any suggestions are welcome.

Anyways, here are my wanted specs:

Must haves:

\- Longevity/Durability (I want to use it for at least 5 years, because I hate changes, so that many years of security updates would be great)

\- 3,5mm jack (I'm an oldie headphone user :'D)

\- SD-card slot (yep, I still use those)

\- USB-C charging (which shouldn't be a problem since I'm in the EU)

\- Waterproof (not necessarily diving proof, since I'm not going to swim with it anyway, but it should withstand water drops, eg. when it rains)

\- Somewhat fallproof (I'm clumsy as hell, so a case recommendation would be nice too :'D)

\- At least 128GB mass storage (although 256GB would be nice)

\- At least 8GB RAM (12/16GB would be a nice to have but not essential, I'm using my phone a lot)

\- (Strong) Battery should last a full day (assuming I use it a lot)

Nice to have:

\- Solid camera quality (main and selfie)

\- Solid audio quality (recording & listening)

\- Finger Unlock function

I know I'm asking for a lot with these specs and since my budget is €500, I'm aware that I have to make cuts somewhere. I don't need things like wireless charging, NFC or 5G, but it should be conforming to EU laws and available in Austria (where I live). Design isn't really important, just has to be handy/practical.

EU Coming back to Android after 2 years on iPhone 15 Pro Max — looking for recommendations under ~1,100€

Budget: ~1,100 EUR (willing to wait a few months if major discounts/promos or new releases are on the horizon)

Location / Region: EU

Current Phone: iPhone 15 Pro Max

Hey everyone,

I was a long-time Android user before switching to an iPhone 15 Pro Max a couple of years ago. Before the iPhone, one of my absolute favorite devices I ever owned was the Xiaomi Mi 9T as** **I loved the value, the flexibility, and the overall feel of the OS and hardware.
The iPhone hardware has been fine, but I genuinely miss the freedom of Android and am ready to come back.
Here is what I’m looking for in my next upgrade:

What Matters to Me:
Customization & Sideloading: Custom launchers (such as Nova) and easy APK installations are a must. Full OS flexibility is the main reason I’m leaving iOS.

Top-Tier Camera: Coming from a Pro Max, I want an elite camera system that can hold its own in portrait, low light, and zoom.

Solid Battery Life: Needs to easily clear a full day of heavy usage.

4-Year Lifespan: I keep my devices for around 4 years, so I would need high-end build quality and performance that won't lag down the line.

What I DON'T Care About:
Long-Term OS/Security Support Guarantees: I don't care if a brand promises 7 years of updates versus 3 or 4. Software support policy length is not much a factor for me.

I’m not in a massive rush and if there are major sales, trade-in promos, or new flagship drops expected in the next few months, I’m more than happy to wait to get the best bang for my buck.

Given that I loved the Mi 9T era of Android and want top-notch camera/battery specs today, what devices should I be keeping an eye on? How is custom launcher support handling on modern Android skins?

Thanks!

EU Help me pick a phone (to Samsung or not to Samsung?)

Hi all, I'm looking into buying a new phone. I'm coming from a OnePlus Nord 3 and after two years it's becoming dreadful to use. It's slow, camera is mid and the battery drains rather fast. The UI isn't for me either. That aside, I'm ready to switch to something beyond the midrange.

I used to have an s21FE back in the day and it only lasted me a year. However, many of my friends have recommended me to look into the newer Samsung models (S25+ and S26+) and try them in store and while they're really nice, I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Would you recommend any of these models? Or should I consider other brands? I'm not sure if I'm going to use the AI-options. I do want a phone that I can use for multiple years, preferably 3 to 5. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also idk if it's necessary for you to know, but I'm from the EU/Belgium.

EU OPPO Find X9 Pro or HONOR Magic 8 Pro ?

Hey guys,
I’ve been going back and forth between these two for days and I genuinely can’t decide.

The OPPO is really tempting because everyone seems to praise ColorOS, and I also prefer its overall design. However, it’s more expensive, and I’ve seen quite a few people mention that the speakers are surprisingly disappointing for a flagship at this price. Is that actually true in real-world use?

The HONOR, on the other hand, seems like the more complete package overall. It has aptX Lossless (which is important to me), excellent hardware, and generally fewer compromises. My only real hesitation is the slightly curved display. I usually prefer flat screens, although I’d probably use a case anyway. On top of that, I’ve had the opportunity to try it at a phone shop, and I wasn’t impressed at first visually. Next to it were Xiaomi 17T’s series units that were almost looking even more premium and sharper in terms of design…

For those who have used either (or both), which one would you buy today? Is ColorOS enough of an advantage to justify choosing the OPPO, or is the Magic 8 Pro simply the better overall phone despite MagicOS?

Edit: EU versions here

Edit 2: Thank you very much for your help guys ! I've finally decided to go with the Honor. Been using it for 2 days, what a great pleasure ! Still trying to accommodate all that optimization stuff, especially regarding battery consumption, but overall that's a really impressive phone. I'll describe it in a little more detail these next days so one can maybe make their choice after reading this post. Thanks again !

EU Sub 700€ Android phone - EU

Hi, I'm searching for a phone for my girlfriend but there are so many options that I don't know what to choose.

It must have a decent SoC, doesn't need to be the fastest but it has to be efficient.
It's mandatory to have 3 cameras (normal, ultrawide and zoom) with decent resolution (no 8mp ultrawide sensors) and decent quality.
The video should be good, with OIS and/or a very good EIS system, with no stutters.

LTPO Amoled screen, and not much more.
I mean, a clean UI would be nice because she's using an old Xiaomi full of garbage apps.

What would you choose?

EU Solid budget phone required (UK)

My Mum (older lady, but very capable) dropped her phone at the beach last week. It was a Redmi Note 14 I bought her a couple of years back. She has the note 8 I bought her previously so is managing, but that's a bit clunky now. I live in the EU - if I was buying a phone for her where I live I'd wait a few months and get her a pixel 11a (Vodafone have done a crazy deal with each pixel A the last few years, selling them for €200 off contract). I have no idea what's good in the UK market currently - if I hang on and wait to get her the pixel 11a she'll probably beat me to it and get something really crappy and overpriced from a phone shop where she lives.

Looking for something around £200 with a half decent camera and which can be expected to get updates for a few years - she's usually very gentle with her phones so we might hope she'll be using it a while. She's very frugal - if she thought it had cost a lot she probably wouldn't be comfortable taking it out of the house 🤣

Thanks for any suggestions

Edit - as I say, I'm looking for a phone available in the UK, not the EU (EU flair was added automatically)

EU Need a reliable phone after my pixel 6 died - thinking of waiting a couple of years

My phone just died yesterday after years of good service. I need to buy a new one but I don't know if I should buy an old device (pixel 7 or 8) to last me a couple of years until the silicone carbon batteries are more mainstream, or if I should invest directly now in a phone like the Oneplus 15 (even though the camera is mediocre). I can currently find one for about 800€ but I am scared of not having support as Oneplus is exiting the EU market. What are your thoughts?

I feel like not having a silicone carbon battery now will make it not as age-proof as future devices

eu Estou pensando em trocar meu Samsung A56 – qual modelo devo comprar?

Olá a todos! Espero que estejam tendo uma ótima noite.

Estou pensando em trocar meu Samsung Galaxy A56 e estou tentando decidir qual a melhor opção.

No momento, estou considerando:

Honor 600

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE (ou S26 FE)

Xiaomi 17T

iPhone 16e 128GB

Minhas prioridades:

EU Help me find EU/Italy Budget aorund 250€

Hi! 👋

I'm hiking in Romanian mountains (0–10°C, waterfalls, mud, snow). My old phone is dying. Need a new replacement under 250–280€.

Must-Have:

  • EU/Italy variant (unlocked, UK ok)
  • SoC: Snapdragon / Exynos / Tensor (preferabily NO MediaTek (unless new Dimensity/Unisoc)
  • eSIM hardware (for Airalo/Saily)
  • NFC + Play Integrity (for banking apps)
  • Battery ≥ 4500 mAh
  • IP67+ (waterproof – rain/snow/mud)
  • Hybrid slot (2x Nano-SIM OR Nano-SIM + microSD) – big plus

Considering:

Model SoC IP eSIM (EU) Hybrid?
Samsung A35 Exynos 1380 IP67 ✅ SM-A356B/DS ✅
Samsung A54 Exynos 1380 IP67 ✅ SM-A546B/DS ✅
Samsung A55 Exynos 1480 IP67 ✅ SM-A556B/DS ✅
Samsung A56 Exynos 1580 IP67 ✅ SM-A566B/DS ❌ (no microSD)
Moto G34 Snapdragon 695 IP52 ⚠️ unclear ✅

Questions:

  1. Which models definitely have eSIM on EU variant?
  2. Any other phones I'm missing?
  3. Cold weather battery tips (0–10°C)?

Current pick: ⭐ Samsung Galaxy A55 5G (~220–240€)

Thanks! 🙏

TL;DR: Need rugged Android <280€ with eSIM, NFC, IP67+, 5000mAh, Snapdragon/Exynos/Tensor, hybrid slot. Leaning toward Samsung A55. Confirm eSIM for EU and suggest alternatives.

EU I want to go back to Android.

Hi everyone, I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I've been an Android user for many years, and I've been using an iPhone for 5-6 years.

Lately, I'm not happy with Apple anymore. The battery lasts practically nothing, starting at 9:00 AM, I had 2.38 hours of screen-on time and 2 hours of screen-off time, and now at 7:23 PM, I'm at 39%, completely limiting the phone (no background apps, only Wi-Fi, etc.).

I do not own any Apple Ecosystem, only Airpods, i have a Xiaomi Pad 7 12GB.

I was thinking about one of these devices, for me the only things they need are:

  • A high battery capacity 120Hz+ display
  • Decent cameras
  • Good processor and RAM (that doesn't constantly freeze)
  • And above all, it needs to be lightweight (hopefully)

The phones I'm eyeing right now:

  • Xiaomi 15 (I like the software)
  • Xiaomi 15t/Pro (I like the software)
  • Oppo Find X9/Pro (Great battery for my use)
  • S25 Ultra (I like OneUI for customization, but it's lacking in battery life)

What would you recommend for switching back to Android? I hope I've been clear enough, thanks! 👏🏻

EDIT: I'm in EU, exactly Italy

2nd EDIT: What about Vivo X200 Fe? Great battery, decent camera e and good ergonomics

EU Pixel alternative with better battery life (EU)

I'm on a regular Pixel 8 that I bought just after launch almost three years ago. Everything still works fine except for the battery life. My instinct was just to upgrade to the standard Pixel 10 or wait for the 11, but I see a lot of complaints about battery life and early indicators suggest the 11 won't be any better.

Anything else I should look at that gives a similar experience to the Pixel? EU based, 600€ or so. More if really needed

EU [EU - €800] Moving from iPhone 14: Pixel 11 Pro 512GB or wait for S27/iPhone 18/alternatives (Nothing, OnePlus, Sony)?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using an iPhone 14 (256GB). It still runs well, but I’m hitting frustrating Wi-Fi limitations and feel it’s time for an upgrade.

I usually stick to base models since I shoot with a dedicated camera for the more serious photography. However, thanks to a current promotion combined with the trade-in value of my iPhone, the Pixel 11 Pro (512GB / 16GB RAM) drops down to €700, which actually puts it at the exact same price as the base model (with the same discount). Getting the Pro tier at zero extra cost makes this deal tempting.

My setup & workflow:

  • Zero ecosystem lock-in: I use Windows, Mac, and Linux across work and personal setups. LocalSend and cross-platform sharing completely cover my file-transfer needs.
  • Usage: Daily standard tasks, viewing mixed media, quick/light RAW and video edits, point-and-shoot camera needs, and casual gaming.

What matters to me:

  • Clean, bloat-free software & longevity: I want a smooth, simple UI with solid long-term update support. I’m avoiding brands like Xiaomi or Oppo due to previous bad experiences with aggressive bloatware and poor post-sale support.
  • Consistency over brute force: I don't need benchmark-topping power, just a stutter-free, reliable daily experience.

My doubts & alternatives:

  • The Pixel 11 Pro: The €700 deal is solid, but the weight jump (172g vs 204g) and sustained efficiency/thermals are my main concerns.
  • Nothing, OnePlus, or Sony: How do Nothing OS, OxygenOS, or modern Xperia software hold up in terms of stability, clean design, and long-term polish compared to Pixel UI?
  • Waiting: Should I just hold out for the upcoming iPhone 18 or Galaxy S27 series instead?

For those with experience across these brands, is the €700 Pixel Pro deal a no-brainer for my needs, or is there a better alternative I should consider?

Thanks!

EU Replacement for Redmi Note 8T in EU/CA

Almost 7 years ago I picked up the Redmi Note 8T for ~170€. I really like everything about it, but it's getting too slow and I'm looking to get a replacement around the same price now, but I noticed that the wiki for the subreddit no longer has a low budget recommendation listed.

What would be the best option in either of these markets if I'm looking for something that isn't too special, just something with USB-C, a headphone jack, fingerprint reader and a usable camera?
