China First android phone

So had an iPhone forever, recently though ran into hardware issues that caused the phone to fail and not happy about that. So looking for my first android phone, originally liked the concept of the fairphone, but feels like lot of trade off with functionality. I also will say I work in an industry that is heavily target by China in cyber threats, so a Chinese phone company will not qualify. Ironically I get it that basically all phones are manufactured in China…

What is everyone’s thoughts on Google pixel?

Google pixels are good phones for regular users - They are not always ideal value but they're fine. Except the a-series which is actually quite recommendable for people looking to get a solid phone with a nice camera for a smaller price. It's not that there isn't any competition, but especially if you want a phone by a "reliable" and Western brand, it might be a good pick.

Pixel is a nice phone but Google doesn't add a lot of features compared to other manufacturers like Samsung or apple but with a Pixel you're not stuck with the Google bloat and restrictive policies if you don't want. Highly recommended specifically if you want to run GrapheneOS or another custom ROM. I always buy them used and carrier unlocked.

You just stripped down half of the good ones discarding china, now pixel itself has mixed opinions, the ui is fine, the cameras are very good, but the hardware is not worth the price, if you dont game or are not a geek, pixel is good, just dont buy the base A varients

Samsung is the only phone not manufactured in China. (Including Pixel and iPhone. Both are China phones)

Throw out a price between 150 and 2500 bucks and Samsung makes a phone for you. Galaxy S Base is the sweet spot. Premium, compact (by 2026 standards), competent cameras, decent battery life, and still not 1000 bucks.

Samsung phones have in my experience been highly reliable, admittedly this is also only experience with their S lineup. Pixels are generally okay, the battery life and connectivity is comparatively poor at it's price range on the Pixel 10 series and below, but according to early reviews and tests the 11 series is a significant improvement there. Pixel software is clean, fluid and so far also fairly stable, but also doesn't have as many features as OneUI.

I can definitely say you won't go wrong with e.g. a refurbished S25 Ultra, or an S26 Ultra if you want to spend on the newest ig
