Discussion Can’t believe this never clicked for me!!

Post image

5 play throughs and didn’t even realize how this charm worked until somebody pointed it out. For some reason I always saw the “when suffering status ailments” and thought why do I need to do more damage while I’m on fire?

I mean, it's still not that good even still. It's pretty much "+15% damage after using the flute" when you could just take an unconditional 15% more damage with the fencer charm.

porque no los dos?

Stacking the three charms would have been a +45% boost on fire damage, which is substantial. Going to have to go test it now, especially along with an oil pot to see how much health it melts.

The charm with 50% extra follow up damage is pretty big too. And you will almost always be doing follow up damage to parrys in battle.

All of those charms for damage are not good. On normal mode you already do a lot of damage and alot of stamina damage so it’s better to take utility charms instead.

In carnage mode you do so little damage the 45 percent damage boost is gonna get you nowhere so the utility charms are still just better again especially if your playing appropriately as you’ll end up doing the same exact damage and killing bosses the exact same time.

The best charm in the game is still 20% reflex buildup extremely underrated recommend in every difficulty and every build. You can dodge once and get an instant reflex counter on some projectile attacks which does same to more damage as an issen. Most other melee attacks only takes 2 dodges to generate the counter which is extremely good.

i perma run that charm as it reminds me to get value from dodging rather than block/parry/deflect everything and lets me do cool counterattacks.

Yea it’s so good and there are some bosses that have so many melee attacks and projectiles rather than sword attacks. The only time I wouldn’t use the charm is if you’re using the sword sheathe from beating on carnage.

But is limited to Oni/awakening gauge being filled, you're gonna use it 2 times per fight.

3

u/lGUT5l 13h ago

In the long carnage fights you’re using Oni weapons nonstop.

2

u/Accomplished-Top7678 15h ago

I can get way more than two refills per fight. Between hitting purple breaks and keeping yourself in the blazing state most of the fight, you can almost constantly have your oni gauge filled and the more frequently you use your oni abilities, the faster you fill your awakening

I think other charms are more useful since it’s a diminishing return. As far as I’m aware it’s just an extra 15% so if your sword is fully upgraded it is still just +15% of base damage not of the new damage after +100% from upgrades.

Beginning of carnage the fencer charm is much more noticeable than end game.

The hold version of firing your flute puts enemies into the oil version of being on fire

5

u/RayDaug 17h ago

Because I want faster blazing and reflex combos too.

Didn’t someone here do testing for all the charms and concluded the Fencer Charm only buffs normal attacks and nothing else? It is not a flat 15% damage boost to all attacks, just your normal light and heavy attacks. So it doesn’t boost your Issens for example, or Reflex combo.

They also concluded Lovable Charm - Mentor provides the highest damage boost to almost all attacks since Blazing State boost applies almost everything.

3

u/DigNo8080 16h ago

Isnt that literally what it says it does?

1

u/G0DL1K3D3V1L 9h ago

Yeah but it seems most people assumed from the first few weeks the game was out that the Fencer's Charm buffed more than it did since a lot of the early charm load out recommendations included it for more damage.

With the flute being my favorite, I probably would’ve stacked the two along with the one that makes oni weapons do more damage and could’ve gotten a hefty buff!

1

u/RaDiOaCtIvEpUnK 14h ago

Mixed with this, and you’ll be doing some crazy amounts of high damage. BTW I asked OP of that post if they had this on at the time, and they said no.

1

u/stacio88 14h ago

You're doing fire damage and then a 15% stacked on your regular damage. Plus there's another charm that makes fire status last longer. You pair this with the flute and you go through bosses so much easier. Especially with the flute staggers bosses out of most attack animations.

Isn‘t it +15% when Musashi is suffering from an ailmemt and not the enemy?

6

u/CountScarlioni 17h ago

No, the item description says “Increases the amount of damage dealt to enemies that are burning, ablaze, or oil-soaked.”

The summary below that, “Attack Power When Suffering from Status Ailments,” is awkwardly worded, and it’s easy to think it means Musashi has to have the status ailment, but it’s actually meant to be read with an implied “Attack Power When (Enemies Are) Suffering from Status Ailments.” Presumably they just ran up against the character limit for the display box or something.

4

u/7Lilith77 17h ago

Oh, i guess i have to learn to read🙃

14

u/Phant0m_black 18h ago

Pair this with the dancers charm and you can destroy boss stamina bars after using the flute as they keep burning. Use the flute then activate oni awakening then youll inflict massive damage. Used this charm in carnage playthru.

2

u/Accomplished-Top7678 18h ago

I’m definitely going to have to try this!!

1

u/No-Hurry-261 17h ago

Pre-order only charm right? I haven't found that one yet so I'm guessing it's not findable in the game? 🥲

1

u/Phant0m_black 16h ago

Yes unfortunately.

1

u/fersur 16h ago

Hmm, this is actually good build.

This, Oni Armament charm, and regular attack charm(or other attack boost charm), will probably stack your damage significantly.

Did not think about damage stacking, so I used balanced charm(attack+defense+blaze blade) during carnage run.

1

u/Phant0m_black 16h ago

Sadist charm, dancers charm, and inner strenght charm was my build to get thru carnage. When they are burning and u use oni awakening, you will be using issen so the damage will stack. I tried other setups. See what works for u.

1

u/bas_thc 15h ago

Does this work against Shuten Doji? 😂 I would test it myself but I'm away from home for the week.

1

u/Phant0m_black 15h ago

Nope. He is immune to fire.

7

u/Usual-Recording-3775 18h ago

5 playthroughs?? I did 2 and that was already alot my guy studying pixels

1

u/Accomplished-Top7678 17h ago

🤣🤣 to be fair this game and blackmyth are the only two games that I’ve ever played this many play throughs!! Both of them have really stand out combat for me

3

u/m05hm05h 16h ago

The most playthroughs for me was Sekiro, NG+ 8.

2

u/Accomplished-Top7678 15h ago

Mine was blackmyth at NG+13 and seeing everybody posting it here on Reddit is making me wanna go for 14

3

u/Cosychip 15h ago

I thought that the whole time too they honestly do need to change the wording cause it only says damage dealt to enemies when you hover over it just the effect at the bottom reads like it only works when you have a status effect

1

u/Accomplished-Top7678 15h ago

Honestly, I should know better at this point because most developers out of that region do this

2

u/tsitken 18h ago

isnt this useless haha? but you do get that blazing buff on the sword , does it apply?

7

u/Ashe66 17h ago

The flute weapon is the easiest way to set stuff on fire

2

u/chanandlerbong420 17h ago

Set enemy of fire with firebird flute, hit enemy, profit

1

u/Accomplished-Top7678 18h ago

That part I’m not sure about, but I would have been stacking this with the +15 all around damage buff as well as the charm that buffs oni damage, which would have been pretty substantial

2

u/tsitken 18h ago

im not really sure about charms either cause i only had the defence charm and the health hahaha, maybe thats why my damage is low on the bosses, but i do defeat them so i dunno haha

2

u/Accomplished-Top7678 18h ago

Honestly, there’s so many different ways to get the same results. I just like playing around with stuff and seeing how fast I can beat bosses up!!

2

u/tsitken 18h ago

ahh, then you definitely need the charms and the buffs too, those talismans i do use the talismans, its useful

1

u/Accomplished-Top7678 18h ago

I didn’t get much use out of everything for the first couple of play throughs but now I’m starting to mix things up and it’s been a blast

2

u/tsitken 18h ago

oh you already beaten it? i still havent beaten it haha

2

u/Accomplished-Top7678 17h ago

For sure, I just finished my fourth carnage run 🤣 I love the combat in this game and now I am just challenging myself to see how fast I can melt each enemy. Also testing out how fast you can fully upgrade things like clothing, sword, and gauntlet and so far the fastest I’ve been able to do it was 12 hours and 16 minutes.

1

u/Mundane_Grand_9117 15h ago

Yea this one seemed like total garbage to me since there’s no reliable way to apply these

2

u/Behold_My_Stuff 17h ago

5 play thrus.... didn't this game come out a month ago?😅

2

u/cancerdancer 15h ago

At first glance its worded like it boost attack if you are inflicted, so I kinda ignored it till I read second part.

1

u/Accomplished-Top7678 15h ago

That’s what I’m saying!! it wasn’t until somebody else pointed it out that I thoroughly read the text on top and realized this was for the enemy

1

u/elfarmax 16h ago

Useless right?

1

u/Nero_De_Angelo 16h ago

wait wait wait... If an enemy is "ablaze" does that mean the extra powered up burn (when drenched in oil or put on fire with the flute birds) OR, and that might be game changing, when they are in blazing state??? (Because the game calls the powered up modes of enemys where their weapons glow blazing state, like Musashi).

If it is the latter, then it MIGHT be very useful!

1

u/eldentsai 7h ago

No, take it ask simple as: burned and oil-soaked enemies. Ablaze is just a "more" burn state, like throw an oil jar at enemies and set them on fire, or charge your flute birds and firing.

1

u/Nero_De_Angelo 3h ago

That's what I thought, wouldnhave been too good to be true if it was different :")

1

u/baby_dahl 16h ago

It... it says it right there. I mean, I get that the 2nd part below sounds conflicting, but c'mon.

1

u/Opposite-Wealth6242 16h ago

A lot of people also don't know that blazing state adds damage stacked on since it does more damage to enemies set aflame. Mentors charm is also Omega busted if you have it

1

u/That_Art_3765 14h ago

It's poorly worded, usually the flavor text is the one that's inaccurate in games.

1

u/Legacy0904 14h ago

Wait so how DOES it work? I’m still confused

1

u/hybridglitch04 13h ago

It would be a masochist charm in that case lol

1

u/Spirited-Lunch8063 12h ago

You played this game 5 times already? I just finished my first playthrough. It was fun but to do it 5 times? Holy

1

u/abyssal_replica 12h ago

Doesn't make a lick of difference to me. With the way im playing the game, the charms don't really matter as much.

1

u/Sad-Psychology9677 8h ago

I was thinking that the game isn’t that hard for me to want to really get extra out of my charms

1

u/Dinesh_Sairam 12h ago edited 12h ago

Sadist's Strength + Little Dancer + Oni Strength is a legitimate build. Supplement the build with the Resistance Hozuki Pouch. Needless to say, use the Firebird Flute. On break, always go for the Purple / Soul spots. You'll melt bosses (Except Shuten Doji).

It does take the fun out of combat a little bit though, because a ton of damage will actually come from the fire. I personally feel more awesome Parrying, Deflecting and Issen-ing my way to victory.

1

u/Sara_Krys 9h ago

Reading is overrated anyways

1

u/TheIImmortallOne 2h ago

It's good and all but you might aswell use "Fencer's Strength Charm" instead of the "Sadist's strength charm" as you don't need any requirements to get the 15% attack power.

1

u/mshroff7 18h ago

Lol where are yall getting these charms?

Are they side quests?

I’m on carnage ifuu and burai fight and now I’m curious lol.

3

u/Accomplished-Top7678 18h ago

I couldn’t say exactly where I found this one, but I will say if you’re going for platinum, they are all over the map so it really requires you to explore every square inch.
