Gameplay Is this the worst 2K gameplay of all time?

I know people say this every year but I've been playing since 2k18 and this is the first time I actually feel this way.

The gamespeed is too fast and too slow at the same time. It feels like they've merged the worst parts of 25 and 26 together. Sometimes you get super fast animations and sometimes they're extremly slow and clunkly, making the gameplay feel and look much more unnatural than in previous 2K's with no Pro Play Animations.

Passing is BY FAR the worst it has ever been. Theres just so much wrong with it. The amounts of times I was throwing the most easiest and simple pass resulting in a Turnover just because the Teammate I wanted to pass to gets pulled behind the defender is absurd. Even with a high pass rating you constantly get the worst possible Pass Animations, doing chest passes when someone is in front of you and your passspeed gets randomly slower just so the defender is able to Intercept the ball in time before reaching your Teammate. They messed it up so bad this year that I'm not even sure if this is fixable without making a comepletely new game.

Lay ups and Close shots are damn near useless this year. Theres no point in going for a Lay up or Close shot because they're so incosistent in multiple ways. The animations ur getting and the green windows are way too dynamic. It randomly speeds/slows and shrinks/widens ur greenwindow like crazy making it almost Impossible to time correctly unless its wide open even with high Lay Up/Close shot. Adding the ''Dynamic Lay Up Engine'' was complety pointless and probably made Lay Ups even worse this year.

Meanwhile Dunking is the easiest its ever been. You have a better chance dunking on the whole team than making a lay up over 1 defender. You have a consistent Greenwindow that barely shrinks and you're much harder to get blocked + it takes barely any skill. Thats why you see atleast like 10 posters per game. Standing dunks on the other hand are still bad.

And theres other major problems like Steals, Ghost Contests, random Jumpshot speedups, some Takeovers being too OP while others are trash etc.

Overall most games feels the same because theres so little variety to score the ball effectively other than Driving dunks and open 3's. Thats probably why people are already bored of the game and go to older 2K's. The game design at this current state to me is at an all time low.

What do you guys think?

Discussion ProPlay for online gameplay has ruined dribbling and player control for years and IMO should never appear in 2k again.

I understand when pro play was first introduced it was a somewhat cool and interesting concept, with in-depth concentration of NBA players move sets to make them feel very "realistic" in game. Like Lebrons LeFkyou pull up, or Kyrie crossover size, all super cool moves, but dont pan out well for online gameplay. Problem? The online transition, ill break it down.

Input/Player responsiveness

- With the addition of Proplay, the inability for your inputs to be read immediately and actually respond properly has been worse than ever. Im sure you've all experienced many times where a dribble move/input just does not respond or it makes you do another move you simply just did not input. Rage inducing right? Now tell me how stuff like this never happened before ProPlay? When 2k was using Motion capture for the games animations, all inputs and animations felt beyond smooth and responsive, bottom line.

Dribble combos

- Now I know people hate the Julian Newman type dribbling in 2k, which is not what Im vouching for you. I specifically referring to the transitioning and chaining together ability of dribble moves with pro play. It's far more stiff and just overall terrible piecing together different movesets/dribble moves to create combos. Why? Because pro play animations are terrible to chain together and are super stiff. You could chalk this up to the game adding hundreds of new dribble moves for why they dont piece together properly, nonetheless. Why was this never an issue before pro play ? Animations were very smooth and chained together easily to allow combos to be made and respond efficiently. Now in 27, it feels like clunking together rocks attempting to create a smooth outcome.

Canned Animations/inabilty to control your player

- Canned animations straight up remove your ability to control your player, unless you animation cancel, but even that depends on bullet point 1, Input responsiveness. The inability to get out a fixed animation is just even more dumb RNG in a RNG infested game, who tf asked for this. The inability to react/change your players movements until the entire animation plays out, allows for zero player creativity and is basically just making us robots in a simulation. Great? Who tf asked for this?'

Some other points I can explain further in the comments to save the length of the post are

- Clunky movement/interruptions of momentum

- RNG Dribbling/Scripted sequences overriding our players attributes/badges/control

- Defensive bumping

MyCAREER Defense is too much this year

One thing I don't see many people addressing is how fast the defense is. I see a lot of people complain about blocks, but defense in general is ridiculous. Maybe I'm wrong and need some perspective. You can be prime Dwight Howard mixed with Amen Thompson on defense, covering the paint then sprinting out to the three point line lightning fast in time to get a light/solid contest or even a block on the open shooter. Those mechanics mixed with slow terrible passes are driving me crazy. And then 90 pct of the time, when you finally do a good move and get your defender in the air in the post , even off of his feet in terrible position he gets a solid contest and completely depletes your green window. Close shots were so fun pre patch, now they're terrible in comparison. I had a 99 block big last year, that got 0 blocks, so please understand me when I say I was previously super excited that defense was buffed, but now post patch it feels terrible for me as a primary shot creating offensive player. Am I trippin?

Gameplay The worst 2k experience I’ve ever had today

I’m not joking today I had the worst time I’ve ever had playing a video game ever. Let’s start off the experience with me playing one V one proving grounds. I’m up 17 zip my opponent leaves, forcing me to play against the Ai. I tried to hop jumpers dunks three points fades he contested everything until I was absolutely ice cold in every takeover. I grade out and and realise I’m banned for an hour cause because I left a rec game prior that everybody was selling. I wait the hour out while my friends are playing in the rec. He invites me. The whole team starts reaching on my point guard until I have nine turnovers and grade out again in the second quarter. I load back in my friend send me an invite. We start killing it in the rec I got 2 assist and 5 points we are up 9-0 as soon as I start winning sure enough it bans me mid play for 2 hours. I just wanna ball with my friends but you guys chose to make the game with AI. the level of greed is just sickening

REC Did 2k nerfed AI?

One of my teammate quitted the rec. And I notice that he was open. So I pass it to him. AND HE MISSED. I was confused since it was not his only miss shot as ai. 4/10. (the quitter had 0/3.

Another teammate quitted too. And he missed too. Both of them have high shooting rates. So I was just wondering if they nerfed ai shooting?

(Because that would be dumb and miserable for us who had to deal with quitters.)

MP Builder I‘m bored and havent played MyPlayer in 8 years. Can you help me make a Shaq-like Monster that only blocks, dunks and rebounds?

I just want to play the Story and NBA games, nothing online.

I‘m trying to make an oldschool center thats just a massive 7‘1 guy that dunks, rebounds (offensive) and blocks shots.

with one important thing: I want it to be a good passer that can find shooters when doubled.

No DemI-God, No step backs, nothing.

THE ISSUE IS:

I cant make it work! the skill points wont make it possible.

I asked 3 ai, they all couldnt help/wrote BS

Gameplay Why did they make shooting so hard?

It makes no sense it’s all over the place like how is anyone supposed to consistently shoot? It seems like it based on luck. They don’t change it even if they could. Please make it better next year. No one like rng or whatever makes it so Jenky. This year is so disappointing… guess I’ll try 2k26 if anyone is even on it

Gameplay 86 3pt is significantly worse than 83

I have 2 builds with 83 and 2 with 86. My green window is exponentially smaller with 86, even with the same jump shot or different. It’s truly unbearable. I’ll miss wide open 3s but make contested ones.

I shoot between 58-64% with 83 rating and no more than 35% on 86. Same with pass. I average way more turnovers with 89 pass than 80 or 86. This game makes no fucking sense

REC New to PG, what sigs and tips would you suggest?

I’ve avoided running PG in 2k for years now, starting mainly playing big men, slowly moving to running SG/SF regularly. Going to be running Rec, mostly random Rec. what dribble sigs, badges, builds would you recommend/find the most useful for your team or playstyle? What should I be focused on as PG that I might miss playing C or wing?

Discussion What’s the best jumpshot and release with high 3pt rating?

I decided to play a small guard this year for the vibes, i got a 99 3ball and I use kyrie beluba right now because I always use kyrie base, but I know it’s more meta to use faster jumpers like curry.

I use push when I shoot is that as good as it usually is? i’m shooting around 52% in rec but I miss a lot of easy jumpers especially on the right side of the court idk why 😂 trying to get a feel for shooting in this game.

MyTEAM If you’re on the last breakout board before the final 4 board, and trouble with superstar clutch time, use these card tiers in my line up, you’ll get these card tier opponents. I found lavine to work better than booker as him being an opal makes the highest opp card a PD.

MP Builder How are undersized big men in 2K27 ?

I always make a non shooting 6'8 PF with high rebound and post control (HOF or Legend badges) I use floaters and post hooks to "shoot"

I only play 3 vs 3 and are almost always the Big.

Are undersized big men viable this year? or will 7'+ Bigs outrebound me?

If I start playing in Season 2 and reach level 40 will I also get the Cap breaker from Season 1?

Discussion Banned for build specialization goal grinding… they sent me a response..

Thumbnail
gallery
11 Upvotes

Recently I was permanently banned on 2K27, and I’m honestly just trying to figure out why. I was grinding the Fire and Concrete build specialization method over the weekend and made it to Goal 5 within about two days. A couple days later, I logged in and had a permanent ban on my home screen. I’ve never cheated in my life, and I’m a pretty casual player who plays maybe 8-10 hours a week. I appealed the ban, but my entire experience with 2K support has been automated responses. They eventually doubled down on the ban, but still never actually explained what I specifically did that resulted in it. I’ve taken accountability because I understand the Fire and Concrete method could potentially be considered an exploit, but I still don’t even know if that’s actually what I was banned for…
What’s frustrating is that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have used this same method, including YouTubers who made videos showing people how to do it, and many of them are still playing. I’m not trying to make excuses or say I did nothing wrong. I just want some clarification and consistency. I was simply trying to grind through my Playmaking specialization because the grind can get pretty mind-numbing… If anyone else has been banned for this method or has actually received clarification from 2K about it, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. I’m just trying to understand what happened and hopefully get this sorted out.
