Was browsing random players and came across this guy. This guy was made for Jerry. I actually wouldn't be suprised if Jerry already has his numbers printed out and pinned on his wall.
Andujar is a certified Lefty Masher. Over his career, he's hit .292/.329/.461 against lefties. Interestingly his OPS is an additional 20 points higher against lefty starters, showing he could be a major option in the leadoff spot against lefties.
A glance at his statcast page shows he was down significantly in most categories over the year prior. This of course means that he's due for a bounce back as his trends revert to normal.
He'll be 32. This is not a knock, rather his age will play a factor into him signing below market value, a significant factor that will allow Jerry room to make a Major Addition at the trade deadline.
He can play outfield, first, and third! Of course he doesn't really do any of these well, but having positional flexibility makes a player inherently valuable, according to Jerry. He's also slow as a rock, which doesn't really matter when walking or hitting dingerz.
He had a Monster Year in the past. In 2018, Andujar hit .297/.328/.527 and finished 2nd in ROTY voting to some guy named Ohtani. This shows that that kind of production is in there, somewhere, and could possibly be unlocked with a trip to Driveline.
He's battled an incredible assortment of injuries throughout his career. Not only does this display resiliency, but has led to him developing a fun, folksy, just-happy-to-be-here attitude in interviews (check out his Padres and Reds stuff) that will make him an instant fan favorite regardless of preformance.
I fully expect the Mariners to sign this guy. He's the most Jerry Mariner who hasn't Marinered yet.
