Through Music!

People underestimate how the beauty of music brings us all together, especially people that can play music together.

One of the first instincts a toddler has is to dance to the sweet, beautiful, sound of music.

This is why music and the arts are so important!

Its not just music. Its Art.

The act of creating and then sharing in that creation. Its fundamental social bonding.

If you look for stuff like this you can find it everywhere. There's a reason people from all over wanted to come here, and that reason still exists. I refuse to give up on what's good about this place just because a bunch of fascists are currently dumbassing all over.

"A bunch of fascists dumbassing all over" is how I will forever describe this nonsense era for the U.S.

Is this is liberal hellhole we keep hearing about?

They will try to make you believe that. We need a lift though and some kind of intervention to get ourselves righted.

I believe this is the chaos we were told would exist in Mamdani's New York.

Jesus fucking christ, cant we just enjoy something, anything, without this needing to be the very top comment. MAGA, LIBERAL, MAGA, LIBERAL!Ā

For fucks sake, go somewhere else if that's all you have to say.Ā

Something tells me you wouldn’t have enjoyed this anyway if that’s how you feel.

Not every post needs a political comment.

You’re right, it doesn’t. But it’s still true. As of now, we need to be reminded that we need this , not hate filled leadership tearing us apart. And it’s not specifically political. I’m a democrat but I’d take any of the last 3 republican presidents over ā€œhimā€. It’s a maga infestation issue. All presidents before actually, deep down, were humans and cared about other people. Even if you disagreed with their policies

Kinda feels like we're losing ground on that if we feel the need to mention the movement we're concerned about any time we see something cool happen.

We're reminded that we need this by watching it and enjoying it, not because somebody says "hey, remember MAGA and how much it sucks" after we watch it.

Also, that's absolutely political. Comparing two Republican politicians or movements is still politics. Politics isn't defined by being cross-aisle.

I know the drummer and she would definitely say "fuck MAGA" feel free to make it political

You know the drummer??
What’s her story?
I’m so impressed by her - she’s obviously a master so I wonder if she was a professional performer in her life.

Took lessons and volunteered with a community band for many years. She would tell you to go out and be a part of your community! I think the video here demonstrates her willingness to be out there for each other. I don't want to tell her life story for her but she's tagged on Instagram in the video

That’s why we can’t talk to each other anymore. This is about grandma showing her stuff with the kids.

Read the room.

Bruh why you make assumptions. She isn't even a grandma. she's a senior who knows how to play drums and is liberal as hell. This unity shes showing is clearly anti-MAGA. Read the room and understand you may not mess with politics, but politics will mess with you.Ā

She didn't become a loving fun person by being apolitical, in fact it's the exact opposite. She's accepting of all and it turns out it's reciprocatingĀ

The US became political, purposely caused by Paul Weyrich and Jerry Falwell via Moral Majority and Heritage Foundation (late 70s, early 80s). They literally created a marketing campaign to get Christian churches to preach their conservative agenda that forced the idea that Republicans are aligned with God.

Your current beliefs and ours are all colored by that cultural shift. So your belief that this thread should be apolitical is one where US culture has already shifted far to the Right. Then saying we should leave politics out of the general conversation ---> equates to wrapping the fence around the property (US culture) in order to protect the shift to the Right.

Music isn’t right or left. It’s music. That’s all the discussion is about. Left or right politics does not ALWAYS have to be part of every discussion. That was my point. I don’t know why people are justifying why they need to when they really don’t.

You didn't even know the drummer. if you did you would understand why sitting on the sidelines and not making something political is complete and utter nonsense. Go stand up for something

u/Out_of_my_mind_1976 2h ago

I guess I don’t feel the need to inject politics into every conversation as other seem to. Noted.

Interesting perspective. Curious how others see it.
