Local Making new friends

[Edit: this isn't a post to start debates. Ofc I "go outside" I promise you I haven't been waiting 24 years to hear that brainstormed idea lol I don't understand the assumption that I'm relying on this when it's just me using it as an opportunity. And thanks for worrying but I'm a grown adult ofc I'm not gonna share priv info or smth w a stranger online blindly can we please chill? 😭]

Every time I make a post like this I get 99% of the DMs from millennial men who barely share any of my interests and just talk about jobs like we're on LinkedIn 🫩 so let's try a diff wording lol

I am 24F kuwaiti down to make new friends here in kwt, this time I'll specify the target audience is mostly WOMEN and around MY AGE. Being kuwiati or a resident here is preferable bc it'll be easier to communicate :) If you're a guy who've never befriended a woman nor know how to then this isn't for u sorry 😭 if you don't boycott and is someone who's detached from the problems we live with and lack empathy for ppl outside ur borders we for sure won't click :/ 🤍

Went to the new park in Shuwaikh this morning and it was already trashed.

I am tired of people blaming each other and not being accountable for their own actions.

Please clean up after yourself and teach your kids to. It’s not hard to throw trash away, or when the trash cans are full, take the trash home with you.

All kids deserve to have a clean place to play.

Local Indians of Kuwait, of Reddit. Do not put your Kids in ICSK

  1. Place is evil- management too; board could be as well. Any organization's overall environment/climate/tone/culture is set and maintained by the top management and leaders, and you can't have your Kids in a toxic place like that, ask the students who've graduated, not their parents ask the students most of them would say they felt scammed specially if you're not from Kerela.
  2. Yeah there can be and must be good people in there, but a lot of the teachers are racists (towards non Malayalis) you want your kid to have a good time, thrive and perchance excel, what you don't want is him/her losing the smile off their face and if that sounds to much you don't want them to not feel good about school to say the least, that is not why you're working hard out here

Don't fall for the "but- they got the best board exam results" nonsense, maybe 2 or 3 out of the batch make the best scores but, the vast majority who gets good average scores doesnt have to be there because "ohh board exam results-"

First of all CBSE is a suboptimal board and its results don't mean much for the most part, secondly those 2-3 kids earned it, third- why is that the goal?

your kids do not need study pressure but if they're aligned with scoring and studying well / being a nerd that's a different story and they would achieve that anywhere and ICSK would have very little role to play in that, although ICSK would give them a lot of trouble or unnecessary resistance or trauma

Try Bosco or SIMS or JIS

---- edit-

yeah it used to be good, its the oldest indian school here bla bla bla. It is not anymore.

Another issue is how they cramp up 40+ students in one class. smh

Edit:

My bad guys everyone saying SIMS is probably as bad

There’s dps too

These are pictures from a walk I took around Al-Muthanna complex mall in January 2024. You can see how a once vibrant mall became almost empty. There may have been maybe 13 shops open in the entire mall.

Local Kuwaiti Citizenship Revoked

A relative of mine just had her citizenship revoked.

She's currently living outside of Kuwait, is her passport still valid or will it be seized by immigration while trying to enter Kuwait? We're trying to find official statements from MOI but we had no luck :/

Also, if her mom were to turn in her جنسية (nationality ID) on her behalf, will her passport be terminated automatically?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys, and if someone would be willing to provide more info via DM that would be amazing, thanks!

Local I just wish Iran would stop these attacks.

I am glad that the sounds of the attacks are becoming less frequent, but I can't help feel uneasy with all that is happening.

Kuwait is a peaceful country that has nothing to do with this war before Iran started attacking us. Kuwait was against the attack on Iran that was made by the US and Israel, and Kuwait is against Israel.

Local im gonna leave the country soon and idk what to do about my cat

I actually found her near my house early this year, she was just a little kitten, no mom. i waited like the whole day to see if her mom would come back, no one came back. I felt bad for her and didnt want her to die so I took her in.

I didnt know anything about how to raise cats but did my best, i couldnt find any shelters or anyone to take her in or help me out. was tough tbh but i adapted.

but now im gonna leave the country, and soon, like maybe next week. and it will be for a long time. I dont want to throw her outside again, but idk what to do. no shelters or anything around. I messaged so many people.

Local Why is the public transportation system in Kuwait soooooo trashhhhhhh

Small country. Small population. Should be easily manageable.

It’s an expat-dominated country, yet most expats can’t drive unless they meet a laundry list of eligibility requirements. So what do they do? They rely on public transport.

Buses? Absolute trash. Disgustingly jam-packed with people who have zero civic sense or respect for others.

Taxis? Somehow worse. Whether it’s local cabs or even Careem, it’s a disaster. Filthy cars, drivers that smell like they haven’t showered in days, speaking sooo fkng loudly on calls, bugs crawling around, ripped seats, food crumbs everywhere, you name it.

And what baffles me the most - why doesn’t Careem do anything about this? Just look at the UAE. They literally have Teslas and Lexus as taxis. The drivers are in clean and tidy uniforms, the cars are spotless, and you actually feel comfortable sitting in.

Meanwhile, here in Kuwait, where most expats depend on cabs, we can’t even get a half-clean car. Very rarely do I find decent cabs and mind you, I take a cab twice everyday. I’ve been driven around with a punctured tire, I’ve come home with the worst itch only to find a fkn bed bug crawling in my shirt, I’ve had to keep windows rolled down during peak dust season because I’d rather inhale the dust than bear the smell of sweat 🥲 I know it may come across as rude or tone deaf to pass such comments about the drivers (it again goes back to how labors are treated in this country, 5-10 people in one room with barely any amenities, but that’s for another day to discuss) HOWEVER it’s nothing but the truth sadly.

Wish the government or private companies did something about this. It shouldn’t be that hard.

Edit - posted this rant at 9 30 in the morning omw to work because the cab was again, stinky, disgusting and the driver was sooo loud on call that I have a literal headache now. It was a Careem and no they have zero regulations and don’t give a fuck about their service providers. You complain to them and receive a call from Egypt.. like ??? Ofcourse you’d be severely mismanaged if you decide to just have an online presence in a country.

Local My parents live in Kuwait and my mom is the queen of “everything is fine” but what’s the actual situation there?

Hi everyone ❤️

Bit of a random one. My parents live in Kuwait and we speak pretty much every day. According to my mom, everything is perfectly normal. However my mom is also the kind of person where if the building were on fire she would probably say, “no no it’s just warm today.”

I’ve been seeing bits of news floating around online and it’s hard to tell what’s real versus the internet doing what the internet does best.

So I thought I’d ask people who are actually there. What’s the general situation like on the ground?

Thank you so so much to anyone who replies. I genuinely appreciate it.

And wishing you all over there the best, stay safe and I am sending my love.

Can these lunatics in Salmiya Block 10 who are bursting crackers at this hour stop? I mean you had the whole evening to do so, but now you wanna ruin the peace and spoil other people's sleep as well? I'm waiting for this BS to stop so I could walk my pets in peace! This is that one time of year that I really friggin' dread taking my pets out... I know you guys wanna celebrate but do so within reasonable timelines and boundaries so others are not affected...

Local I built a Kuwait/GCC conflict monitoring tool that uses AI to filter real-time news into urgent alerts

Hey everyone,

I've been working on E.N.Z.O Alerts (Emergency Notifications & Zero-Delay Operations), a live monitoring system focused on security developments in Kuwait and the GCC.

Enzoalerts.com

What it does:

  • Continuously scans a curated set of news and OSINT sources in real time
  • Filters out noise (diplomatic chatter, reposts, low-value commentary) and surfaces what actually matters
  • Classifies alerts as urgent, routine, or regional based on relevance and threat level
  • Uses AI to help summarise and categorise incoming reports
  • Shows a live 1-5 threat level indicator for Kuwait

The idea is a focused signal, amidst all the noise. Missiles, drone activity, airspace closures, confirmed strikes, that kind of thing gets flagged. A minister shaking hands does not.

Important disclaimer before you use it:

This is an informational monitoring tool. It is not an official government service, not a civil defence system, and not a replacement for any of those things.

AI is used to help filter and summarise, but it can and will make mistakes, especially with breaking news, partial reports, translated content, and fast-moving situations. An item may be delayed, mislabelled, or missed entirely.

Always verify with official government sources, civil defence, airport authorities, and local emergency services. E.N.Z.O is a heads-up layer, not a source of truth. Use it to stay aware, not to make decisions.

iOS users: You can save E.N.Z.O directly to your home screen via Safari (Share > Add to Home Screen) for a native app-like experience. It also supports push notifications for urgent alerts, so you don't need to have the page open to be notified.

Cost and support:

E.N.Z.O is completely self-built, self funded and free to use.

enzoalerts.com

Happy to answer questions. Still actively developing it. DM me if you encounter any bugs or issues.

For Transparency: This entire project was built with the help of Claude Code and Codex - I do not have a software engineering background (I'm a doctor) but I have been auditing the system daily to ensure the quality of outputs is satisfactory and I'm constantly refining it.
That being said as it uses AI to sample the news every couple of minutes and filter/summarise as well as determine the legitimacy of the news its reviewing, this system is still be prone to errors and misinterpretations so keep that in mind.

Stay Safe :)
