Discussion Knicks fans were right

All regular szn I heard Knicks fans saying “wait until playoffs, regular szn don’t matter” and they were right…this team in the offseason needs to figure out what will get them postseason success instead of overpaying regular szn merchants like Duren

We’re about to do something incredibly dumb, aren’t we?

If Duren re-signs with us for $200+ million and 5 years, I will get super upset.

Again, it’s not that I don’t think Duren can’t improve. He definitely can. And definitely will.

But the cost does not justify the means. Especially when he had as bad of a playoff series as he did. He can’t seriously get this contract coming off a playoffs.

Oh and this isn’t a one-off. We are getting a legit sample size of his playoff performances.

He has played 20 playoff games in his career so far and has been underwhelming/unplayable in all but 3-4 of the games. The data is starting to seriously stack up against him and his trends.

Discussion Knicks fans after game 3 is the one of the worst things I’ve seen attached to an American sports team

Makes Malice at the Palace look like nothing. I was out of the loop, but just watched so many videos of Spurs fans getting just mobbed. One of the worst scenes I’ve seen with the NBA. Shameful.

I’m hoping Spurs beat them now. That fanbase doesn’t deserve a title.

It wasn’t an isolated attack. There were many of them.

Discussion Duren is the #55th highest paid player in the league next season. Next season he might barely be in the top 50. For the entire duration of the contract he might never be top 40. Any doom/gloom over this contract is performative

Discussion Jalen Duren is actually a hero.

I’m not being sarcastic at all, I never wanted to pay both him and ausar, they can’t play together. If I’m sitting in my living room complaining about the spacing when those two are out there you know Cade hates it.

So this is a genuine thank you to Jalen Duren. Thank you, thank you to his awful agent aswell, he should not go unnoticed, you’re my goat.

The fact we even offered this guy 40 million should be concerning to everyone. The pistons are doing the equivalent of trying to run headfirst off a cliff offering this guy $40 million, and Jalen Duren has blessed us pistons fans by closing the door in our face, which he thinks is hurting us but in actuality he’s saving us from certain death.

His agent is doing what no pistons gm can seem yo ever do, and that’s stop us from giving players with massive flaws franchise altering money and destroying our ability to compete.

I’m serious, everyone thank Duren and his agent, they’re saving us from disaster.

Discussion I don’t want Jalen Duren anymore

I don’t think Jalen Duren is that good. I’ve been arguing with other pistons fans for the last year about this, the guy is just not all that. Vividly remember telling one of my good friends that this team was going to struggle in the playoffs if they didn’t make a deadline move, yes because the lack of shooting like everyone said, but more so because of guys like Duren and how awful they make the half-court set.

It was the least surprising thing to me that everytime he was out there you could tell in real time how much he clogged the paint and made it much harder to score in the half court set. I’ll be honest I didn’t expect him to rebound to badly and play such awful
Help defense but him directly contributing to making the offense as sluggish as possible was a foregone conclusion.

Why? Because I watched the same thing happen for years with Andre Drummond. They’re the same exact player down to a tee. Both can rebound well and are willing help defenders that play physical. But both can’t shoot a lick. Both have no offensive game in the post aside from bump bump bump spin off a shoulder.

But hes only 23?! He’s gonna get better!! Yes, he may get better. But how much? The fact of the matter is the guy can not shoot reliably. There are a handful of guys that went from bad jump shooters to decent ones, and even fewer that went from bad shooters to good shooters. But going from no jumper to a good one is basically impossible, and the list of guys people have been saying “just wait till
He gets a jumper” that never develop a reliable one grows every year.

I think his team knows he’s not getting that much better than this. Can he go from averaging 20 to 25 in the next few years, maybe but in my
Opinion it’s much more likely he regresses or stays stagnant. Just like Drummond used to be you needed to motivate the guy to go out there and stay motivated to play his best, why pay a guy 200 million + if that’s the case. Sadly we need a big because of how bad this offseason has been for us but the best long term move is to get something back for Duren and move on in my opinion.

Take the qualifying offer and get paid even less somewhere else next year this guys annoying af Cade would make any lob threat look good I’m sure we could find one who plays hard in the playoffs and is a actual good rim protector for far less than what duren wants.

Discussion Am I the only one that didn’t mind the Knicks winning?

I mean, if it was another team vs them in the finals I would root against the Knicks, but this whole time I felt this weird feeling that Wemby was the golden boy of the NBA and the Spurs were getting special treatment. On paper, the Spurs might have been more likable but this whole series left a sour taste in my mouth about them. To be frank, the worst thing about NY is their fans. I don’t mind the players winning a championship.

Jalen Duren’s options:

Deadline: October 1, 2026, to accept Detroit’s $9.6 million qualifying offer.

Option 1: Sign an extension with the Pistons, reportedly worth up to $200 million over five years per ESPN

Option 2: Accept the qualifying offer, play the 2026–27 season, and become an unrestricted free agent in 2027, where he could pursue a contract elsewhere.

Option 3: Agree to a sign-and-trade, although Detroit has reportedly resisted those discussions

Discussion Wings players at Piston games

Post image

Because of this post it made me realize I've never seen Red Wings players at Pistons games. It's usually the Lions players that always show up to Pistons games.

I've also never seen a Pistons player at a Red Wings game. Is there some kind of beef between the two teams we don't know about? They've played at the same arena for almost 10 years now.

Discussion Defending the Ivey / Huerter Trade

For those who need to hear it, this is undoubtedly a solid move for the team. I love Ivey more than the next guy, but the reality is he did not gel with this team, and it was clear we couldn't keep him at what he wanted to be paid. Over the last few weeks, his body language has been terrible, and you could almost tell they were already planning a move. What was the absolute best-case scenario with Ivey? The reality is that, even at his best, he was never a great long-term fit alongside Cade. We can sign Daniss Jenkins for probably much less than Ivey is asking for, and he is arguably a better player / fit right now.

Rather than lose him for nothing, we now add a 37% CAREER three-point shooter in Huerter. Understand he's having a down year, but good shooters are hard to come by. We buy low on someone who is in a weird situation in Chicago (edit: mistakenly said ATL before, apologies) this year, hoping he slides into Detroit's system and can get his percentages up. He's also an underrated playmaker, which you can't say for a lot of the guys that people wanted in the 39-41% range. He has also played in 30 career playoff games, which, without doing any diligence, is probably going to be more than anyone in the core lineup outside of Tobias / Duncan. Finally, he's also on an expiring deal, which means no cap hit to us next season; free trial run to see how he fits in with the team.

Discussion Just start punching people

3.7k Upvotes

We are 4-36 and on pace to become the worst team in NBA history. At this point, think about it; If the worst player on our team (I would say Wiseman), just started punching and beating the shit out of the other teams best player for let’s say a couple seconds, then what’s the worst that can happen? Wiseman gets tossed? He’s the worst player on the team so it wouldn’t really matter and their best player gets hurt. Just imagine Wiseman going complete apeshit on Luka before the teammates and referees get involved. It would be at least 3 whole seconds which is a lot of time to break someone’s leg or arm if they’re trying really hard. Just something to think about as we approach the second half of the season.

Discussion The comments on Duren are absolutely insane

Seriously, these comments are insane.

“I was hoping Duren didn’t make all nba so we didn’t have to pay him as much”
“Duren will NOT do better in the regular season or the playoffs. This is who he is”
“We should let Duren just test out free agency”

If we don’t pay Duren, another team will. Full stop.

Duren is not a player who can be easily replaced or substituted. You do not make an All NBA team by accident and you don’t help lead your team to a 1st seed as the starting center by accident.

And I will continue to bring up his age and experience. He is only 22 years old. He has played in the league for 4 years and a very select few star players who joined after only 1 season in college (or internationally) made any noise in the playoffs during their first 4 years. Yes, there are exceptions to that, and perhaps most did not struggle in the playoffs like Duren did, but point being, he IS young, he IS inexperienced in the post season, and he is not even close to his prime.

I’m really disappointed in so many of you just giving up on Duren.
