Discussion I'm kinda glad Ausar acknowledged his faults
I think Ausar came off looking very good. He said a couple things think show promise .
One he said with his shooting he's more learned how to be more confident and have a shorter memory.shooters shoot it's about confidence
But he also acknowledged his passiveness allowed teams to exploit him and remove him from the plays last year. I said before I think he should have averaged 10 boards in the playoffs but he was just stuck in weak side and didn't know how to help out as much. So that is good to hear from him
Only thing I didn't like is when he said with Beef Stew gone who was like the backbone of the defense he wants to be more vocal leader. I've heard a lot of people say something like this and it never works out. It's not a effort thing it's a personality thing. stew naturally has that personality to be that guy. amAusar I think is more of an introvert. It takes a lot out of introverts to be that kind of person. I just don't see that happening seeing Ausar be the vocal leader. But nonetheless hope he does prove me wrong
He said good things so I hope we all benefit from seeing it

Discussion I think we got better this offseason
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I personally think our roster improved from last season. I am also frustrated that we have not yet made a move for a secondary ball handler and someone who can create their own offense.
However, people seem to forget that John Collinās was playing at a borderline all star level when he was playing with Trae Young. The pick and roll with Cade and him could be extremely effective. Iām optimistic about Bball Paul giving us some good minutes off the bench also.
I also think Duren was a good signing for us. The kid is 22 years old. Did he handle the extension talks well? No, but you have to give him credit for standing on business and holding out to get what he wanted to be paid. I do think if Franz was healthy that we would lose that series against Orlando as much as I hate to say it. But I also do think if Duren played how he did in the regular season and Franz was healthy we would have won. I have a good feeling JD will learn from the playoffs and continue to be better.
Also, I think we see a jump in Ron Hollands game this season. Do I think we could win a title with this roster? I think it would be a long shot, but we do have time in the season to make trades.
TLDR, I think the pistons got better in the offseason, Duren was overall a good signing, John Collinās complementing Cade, Ron improving

Discussion How to watch Pistons Locally with Digital Antenna on MyTV 20
I live in metro Detroit and I wasnāt sure how to watch the Pistons this season via the free tv method the team switched to, but itās insanely easy for anyone who may still be confused.
Basically I bought a digital HDTV antenna (works on non HDTV sets as well) from Amazon for under $20 and you plug it in the side or back. You then have to scan channels using the antenna when you switch input on your tv (this process will slightly differ by set).
The antenna will start scanning for new channels (the scan should take about a minute) and will ultimately complete, giving you a decent chunk of channels for free including MyTV20 (20.1).
And that is that. For less than $20, you can watch every Pistons game on television.
Can the games just start already?
EDIT: Here is the antenna I bought (I have no affiliation to this product or the company, just a consumer looking for a good option): https://a.co/d/0gva3Ivq

Discussion Watching games this year
How does everyone plan to watch the Pistons play this year?
I know they will broadcast on mytv20, but if you have to watch from a mobile device, is the best option to a subscription of DA ZN or is there a way to get mytv20 on a more popular streaming service like Apple TV+ or YouTube TV?

Never been to Madison Square Garden. Lucky that the game coincides with a family vacation so I'm taking my kid.
Any tips or food recommendations around the arena?

Discussion The MASSIVE Silver Lining on Duren's Contract š®āšØ
I think people are getting way too hung up on ā5 years, $200 millionā without looking at what that money will actually represent against the cap over the life of his new contract. SGA is already under contract for over $75 million in 2031, so how does that compare to what Jalen will be earning toward the end of his contract?
Durenās contract is structured like this:
| Season | Duren salary | NBA cap | % of cap | Equivalent under today's $164.96M cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-27 | $40.16M | $164.96M | 24.3% | $40.16M |
| 2027-28 | $36.95M | $176M | 21.0% | ~$34.6M |
| 2028-29* | $38.96M | $193.6M | 20.1% | ~$33.2M |
| 2029-30* | $40.96M | $212.96M | 19.2% | ~$31.7M |
| 2030-31* | $42.97M | $234.26M | 18.3% | ~$30.3M |
*2028-31 numbers assume the cap rises by the CBA maximum of 10% annually after the NBA's current $176M projection for 2027-28. Obviously that part isn't guaranteed.
That's the part I think gets lost when people see $40M+ per year.
This season Duren is basically taking up a 25%-max-sized chunk of the cap. By the final year, that same contract could take up only about 18% of the cap.
Put another way: if a player took up 18.3% of the cap today, he'd be making only about $30.3M.
Even if the cap DOESN'T rise 10% every year, the point still holds. If it only grew around 6.7% annually after next season, the 2030-31 cap would be roughly $214M and Duren would still only occupy about 20% of it, or roughly equivalent to a $33M player today.
You can absolutely debate whether Duren is worth the contract based on his play. But "$40M a year is a massive overpay" isn't really the best way to evaluate his new deal.
Cap percentage matters more than the raw dollar amount.
By the back half of this deal, there's a realistic scenario where Duren is making something equivalent to roughly $30-33M in today's NBA, while actual max players are making $75M+.
Viewed that way, I don't think the contract is nearly as crazy as the headline number makes it seem.
