The best thing about Fall Out Boy is you can always pretend their last recording came out in 2004.

cork tree is just bangers

infinity on high has absolute hits

folie a duex has some of their best work

save rock and roll has strong moments

american beauty/american psycho

(so they had a strong showing for almost a decade more)

So Much (For) Stardust was a pretty solid comeback, at least. Heartbreak Feels So Good and The Kintsugi Kid are right up there with their best songs imo

Yeah MANIA was fine, definitely a 6-7/10 imo, but So Much For Stardust is fantastic.

I regularly listen to their entire discography and I'm convinced that MANIA was necessary for So Much (For) Stardust to even exist the way it does. I don't know jack shit about music theory but there are some sounds in Stardust that I can feel in my bones evolved straight from MANIA, I just don't know how to articulate it.

SMfS is objectively a fucking banger of an album and anyone who says otherwise is just flat out lying to themselves.

I don't even go here (I was too much of a hipster to be into fallout boy when I was a teenager), but I happened to hear Love From the Other Side on the radio, had to look it up, and ended up falling in love with the whole album.

They lost me with srar because it sounded like theatre rock not punk rock

TIL there are actually fallout boy fans.

Engrave on my tombstone, "The first two Fallout Boy albums were actually really good."

Underneath that, "Loving husband and father."

So Much For Stardust, their most recent album, is also pretty good.

three, thank you

HEY! Folie á Deux is their best album, and that was their 3rd major album.

Skipping over their two best albums lmao IOH and FAD are the best things they ever did

I realize people have other opinions. Mine is personally that I will listen to Take This to Your Grave and My Heart Will Always Be The B-Side. Plus Pax Am Days is cool but thats like a decade later.

I personally would replace IOH with FUTCT, and the statement would still be correct.

u/buffaloguy1991 12h ago

Must have been some fallout to cause that statement boy

I would love to go see them in concert, as long as they didn’t play anything released after that date.

u/AdvancedSandwiches 12h ago

Unfortunately, having seen them live, it's basically all the dance-y pop hits from later.

But Cork Tree was 2005, and it was wall to wall quality, so if they want to do a 22nd anniversary play through next year, I'm down.

only one skip on that album and it’s mentioned in the post

I did see them in concert, right around that time, when they were still hardcore adjacent, at a club called Uncle Doctor's in NC. Great show, he climbed up the lights during Saturday and sang that whole screamy part at the end hanging upside down by his knees from the rafters.
