PSA - download your Coinbase Pro history before year-end

Coinbase Pro data will only be available for download through the end of 2026. Even though its years old, this data is very important for tax prep. Even if you already have the activity included in your crypto tax software, you'll want to save a copy of these files so you always have them.

Note, you will need two files for each year: (1) "fills" which includes all the trades, and (2) "accounts" for all the transfers on/off. So if you had Coinbase Pro for 2021 and 2022, you'll have 4 files.

Easiest way is to login and go to statements/pro or just using this link: https://accounts.coinbase.com/statements/pro

This is solid advice. Once an exchange sunsets an old platform's export tools, reconstructing basis without those records gets painful fast.

Good looking out, I almost forgot they were finally pulling the plug on those Pro exports. The number of people who are gonna realize they need cost basis info in like 2028 and find nothing is gonna be a mess.

Already grabbed mine last week and tucked them into a folder with the rest of my tax stuff. The two-file thing is key too, I know a guy who only saved the fills and then had a nightmare trying to explain transfers during an audit. Not a fun phone call.
