US Iran-War [Day 141]

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

I lost my cats in june 2022, if you have seen them or know who has them, please tell me

I was in a fight with my mom over finances and she forced me to put them both for adoption in 2022, she told me she cant keep paying for their food and stuff and since I was 16 at the time, I had no choice but to keep them up for adoption (one of the worst mistakes of my life)

This filipino lady, her name was Mary Jane Beluga on Facebook (she blocked me then changed it to something else) I still have her phone number saved on my contacts list, agreed to adopt them permanently, I gave them away while sobbing uncontrollably but at that point I had no choice.

A few days later, the vet calls us back and tells us that Sky (the gray cat) has a sickness, my mom saw how depressed I was and told me to call Mary Jane Beluga back and ask for the cats back and explain to her that we just found out now that they are sick and its unfair for her to take in sick cats.

The weird part is; she sent us photos of them in different houses, this women split them apart and probably sold them (? assuming) she did not have the pure attentions of keeping the cats and was only looking for a easy way to make cash. so now I was mad and threatened to call the police if she did not give me my cats back.

I was spam calling her non stop asking her, she did not even say yes or no, if she wanted to keep them, she couldve said yes, but as she did not give me a definite anwser, it feels like that she either threw them away or sold them.

I ended up filing a police report, told them the whole story and they told me to just wait, I literally found the place where she works at and the police told me “nah if you find her home address we can go to her directly” months pass by and I hear nothing from police nor her.

Im not asking for them back (although that would be amazing if possible) I just want some closure that my cats are okay and are in good hands, if you know someone that has them or have ever seen them, any information could help.

If it helps, they are both neutered (so maybe they might have the stomach scar still? idk) and both female.

I understand that it was not right for me to keep them up for adoption then ask for them back, but I was only 16 and pressured by the situation I was in, I still love them very much and think about them.

Bahrain Post scam email?

Got this email today saying my package is being held for customs clearance and asking me to pay a fee.

Thing is, I’m not expecting any packages 😂

The sender is also from mail.pipefy.com, which seems weird for Bahrain Post.

Has anyone else received this? Is it a scam/phishing email? I haven’t clicked anything.

I missed my connection flight to Bahrain the other day because I needed to get new boarding passes but couldn’t make it in time why do yal usually do. It was my first time traveling transit were I transfer to another airline mid connection but the luggage is gonna be shipped to final destination. When I have to get boarding passes do you ussally have to exit the airport to the baggage claims or how should u get them the boarding passes under different airline if they don’t give them to u in ur first flight. I missed my flight in Spain were no one spoke English and having to explain by translation and them responding in Spanish and sign language made it even harder to navigate. (For context I am 20)

🤔 Discussion Respect and gratitude

Living in bahrain is great, our currency is one of the strongest in the world, streets are safe, justice is served free, people are kind and welcoming, if you needed help you will surely find it no matter what the situation was and the list goes on.

We in bahrain host one of the most if not the most diverse cultures, and we welcome everyone but ask one thing back, respect.
Respect to our cultures
Respect to our religion
Respect to our traditions
Respect to our government and leaders whom we stand with eternally and unconditionally

Bahrain and its history proved that our values and standards are not negotiable, and also proved that we never allowed disrespect or any hostile behavior against us no matter what the nature of it was, physical, verbal or anything you could think of.

But one thing i noticed, is that some people which are a minority, attack bahrain and its people with so much hate, they could be locals and they could be expats.
I have a simple question
Isnt gratitude and respect a virtue every human aim to achieve ?
Arent you supposed to, and wherever you come from, supposed to be respectful ?
I noticed the language of generalization everywhere
“Most of bahrain are this or that”
With the worst words possible
How would that make you feel if your own home gave me all what i need from safety to good jobs to a comfortable life ?
Or how would that make you look, being a local, born and raised here, only to back stab bahrain’s people as soon as you get on any platform ? Then you see me talk like you do about bahrain with the worst words possible.
Or how would that make you being a mod on this page and deleting the posts of those who defend bahrain while keeping the posts of those who insult bahrain and “most” of its people ?

I have been told that this is a lost cause, and some people arent raised to be respectful and i should make peace with it.
Im being kind and gentle hoping mods wont take this down
But if they did, then this reddit named after bahrain is just against bahrain.

But everyone should know, every country has its loyal people that will defend it everywhere in existence, and we will never stay silent about such behavior.

Also a message for the mods, if you are against any of what i said, take my post down and show us your true colors.

🤔 Discussion Bad driver, worse parent

To the driver of a white Ford pickup (plate 80222) in the streets of Juffair at 6:45am this morning, you are a bad driver but a worse parent. Two small children (no older than 7) sitting, standing, and playing in the open bed of your truck is beyond dangerous (AND you were going over speed bumps without slowing too).

🤔 Discussion Update: A month ago you told me what my spending tracker was missing. I updated Floosi of your suggestions 🇧🇭

Post image
15 Upvotes

About a month ago I posted here about Floosi, the spending tracker I built because apparently, I can't remember where my money goes 😂

A bunch of you tried it. You found things that were confusing, broke things I thought were solid, and gave me way more useful feedback than I expected.

So, I've spent the last month updating it. A lot.

If you tried the first version, here's what's new:

  • UI/UX tweaks all over the app so things are easier to read and use.
  • Better categorisation. You can now change the category for one transaction, or for every transaction from that merchant. Before it was all or nothing.
  • Much better SMS parsing.
  • Support for banks that send more than one SMS format (looking at you AlSalam 👀)
  • Cards identified by 3 digits instead of only 4 (AMEX)
  • About 300 more shops added to auto-categorisation.
  • Notes on any transaction.
  • Much simpler onboarding.
  • On iOS 27, the Shortcut now installs with basically one tap instead of you building the whole automation by hand.

That last one came straight from this sub. A few people said the original setup was way too intimidating if you're not technical. You were right.

I'm nowhere near done, though. Here's the roadmap right now:

  • My own on-device ML SMS parser. The goal is to kill the whole "teach Floosi your SMS format" step, so it just understands whatever your bank sends.
  • AI categorisation instead of relying mostly on merchant keywords.
  • A proper budgeting system.
  • Home Screen widgets.
  • Apple Watch support.
  • Weekly and monthly spending reports.
  • Sarcastic overspending notifications. This one's for me.

Something like: "Are you seriously spending that much on burgers??"

Maybe financial guilt as a service is what finally gets me to save money 😂

There's plenty more I want to add, and a good chunk of the roadmap now comes from people telling me what annoys them.

The one thing that hasn't changed and won't is privacy. Your transactions, SMS data, spending history, balances and notes stay on your phone. There's no account holding your financial data, and I don't want your data on a server. The ML features I'm working on follow the same rule: everything runs on-device.

I built Floosi for myself, and I'm still basically building the app I wish existed. You're just giving me a much better list of things to fix.

If you tried the first version, give it another go and tell me what you think. And if there's something you want added, drop it in the comments. Decent chance I'll end up building it.

If you want to try the app, here is the appstore link:

Real estate agent scammer?

Hi there. We are a married couple looking for an apartment to stay in Amwaj. We found this 1 bedroom semi-furnished apartment with balcony. The amenities are splendid - swimming pool, gym and it even has a play area. We wanted it right away and we thought we could move immediately so we paid 250BHD deposit and my husband gave his documents. 2 days passed by and we didn’t get any update so we asked, they asked my husband that he needs to submit a post-dated cheque as an additional requirement. We went to his bank and found out that this can only be given to people with 1200+BHD salary. So this left us in a bad taste coz this was the first time we encountered this. Why did we need to present that if the unit is only 250BHD? Also, why didn’t they communicate with us from the get go?

On Thursday, we said we didn’t want the unit anymore so we asked the agent to return our money. He said he will do it. We didn’t receive anything. Came Friday, he said he will do it but it happened again. Today, I sent them a message and they won’t return my husband’s calls.

As a young married couple, we are diligently saving money for our future. Work is hard. Everyday is hard. With the petrol and groceries rising we can’t afford to have a loss like this.

Should we report this to the police?

☝️ AskBH How to deal with this ?

So basically I had a post paid number under contract and the package I was using was discontinued by Batelco so I was told I could deactivate the number without any penalty and all charges would be waived from their end , so I did exactly that to find a better alternative. 1 month later I get calls from some Al tawijri law firm group who say they are representing Batelco and I have a unpaid bill of 280bd and if I don’t pay they will file a case on me, when I try to explain them they say me to contact Batelco and when I contact Batelco they say me not to worry and everything is cleared I don’t have to pay a single fils, and then a week ago I got a legal court date against me for not paying and when I speak to Batelco they say that they will contact their legal team and evertbring will be sorted out and but to confirm I call their legal firm to confirm and they say me they have received a email and everything but I have to pay the court fee which is 60bd and I asked them why should I be paying when it was an error from Batelco and your end after they tell me we will speak to Batelco and inform you back, fast forward to the court day I receive a email with a legal case filed against me with travel ban and the court had decided I should be paying the amount with interest.

Now I don’t know what to do and I’m not in a situation to afford a lawyer and when I call their legal team they keep saying we’ll call you back and never do and I have multiple proofs and screenshots stating from Batelco that I don’t have to be paying ( I’m an expat and don’t speak Arabic for me to handle all this myself )

Hi guys, anyone got an email from bahrain post, about a shipment that you need to pay for it or whatever? Im 90% sure it's a scam, I don't order almost anything online anyways. But wanted to make sure I'm not the only one.
