i love how dogs are instinctively gentle with babies. I know some people are going to have issues with this, but these dogs are so naturally protective of infants. This is a really special relationship

Golden retrievers in particular. I’ve never met one who wasn’t sweet with babies of all species.

This! Goldie’s are the sweetest of animals. I want one so bad - but the fur - THE FUR!!!!! 😩

2

u/r_n_c 13h ago

We hoover and then there is a tumbleweed of dust following five minutes later. Sigh. 😁

2

u/thereverendpuck 22h ago

That baby was the safest kid in the ant with those two.

u/Mushrooming247 1d ago

My parents had a giant St. Bernard when I was born and she could not have been sweeter and gentler with us climbing all over her and sleeping in her fur.

I loved her so much. RIP Freckles.

u/Azuras_Star8 21h ago

St Bernards are gigantic snuggly teddy bears.

u/InvalidUserNemo 1d ago

It’s symbiotic, right? How do most humans handle puppies? There is some kinda bond between man and dog that we don’t get, but dogs do.

41

u/Mad-Habits 1d ago

I think dogs are an example of a true relationship. You can say that humans domesticated cows and chickens for human purposes . Dogs kind of domesticated us, and us them at the same time. Ancient dog and man needed each other for survival, like brothers. And like you said, truly symbiotic.

Dogs have quite literally evolved with humans. It's pretty amazing. They share a connection with humans that no other animal on earth does. Not even cats. Cats are basically cats in the wild or not. Dogs wouldn't exist without humans. They'd be wolves.

As someone who was terrified of dogs before we got our lab 3 years ago, I can actually watch a video like this knowing the child is safe

u/lilacsforcharlie 1d ago

Came to comment this!! How do they know?!

Growing up I had a dog. He was the same age as me. He loved me. We used to keep him on our farmhouse where he had a caretaker look after him. We lived in the city and went there twice or thrice a year for vaccinations. He was very overprotective of me. I being the menace I was knew that he would protect me and ragebaited my mom. You know, like poking the bear. And everything my mother would come to give me a good asswoping, my dog would come and protect me. He was the best there was. I literally had a water gun to irritate my mother (I was a 5-8 year old kid). But my dog would never let her get near me. Fun times.

There were tigers near our farmhouse (not many but some would occasional find their way there). We would let him roam free and not keep him chained. He could roam around the property. We had a large land. One of the tigers got him, luckily he escaped but was injured and later died at the farmhouse a few days later.

I'm guessing in his head

1

u/Left_Boysenberry6902 8h ago

We (humans) don’t deserve them. Dogs are too pure for us…

43

u/Background-Test-1246 1d ago

Best friends for life, so cute!

30

u/AdhesivenessCivil581 1d ago

I was raised by a golden retriever named Bristol. My mom said that if we were walking down the street Bristol would check for cars and not let me cross until it passed.

5

u/its-42 13h ago

How was it growing up in the pack ?

20

u/DragonGirlMesilune 1d ago

Dogs: YOU GOT US A TINY HOOMAN!!!

33

u/NoManufacturer120 1d ago

This little girl is going to definitely grow up to be a dog lover. 🥰

31

u/ComfyInDots 1d ago

And operating a grain mill.

167

u/frobscottler 1d ago

Why would they name a baby girl Miller?? That’s not even a good name for a boy

70

u/Short-Nail-3781 1d ago

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking that!

26

u/Practical_Frame_9883 1d ago

Same. Miller?

16

u/dwmfives 1d ago

It's what they were drinking that night. Or they grind grain into flour. I know where my bets going.

15

u/xoxobritxoxo 1d ago

I hope the subtitles got it wrong and it’s meant to be Mila

8

u/AlanaK168 1d ago

Nah you can hear the way they pronounce it. It’s Miller 🙄

3

u/Prestigious-Leave-60 17h ago

Never use the hard R 🙈

10

u/Longjumping-Ad-9444 1d ago

I hope their last name is also miller

4

u/Neutral_Meat 8h ago

The dogs got human names but the daughter didn't

2

u/Eatshin 5h ago

They must have ran out

12

u/TreeDollarFiddyCent 1d ago

It's their favourite beer and the reason why she was conceived.

1

u/astrawberryandakiwi 23h ago

I’m crying!!! This is a hilarious comment

2

u/Unambiguous-Doughnut 18h ago

Hopefully its just a way to obfuscate the name online

1

u/fancypipedream 4h ago

Miller? I don’t even know her.

1

u/Objective-Turn2328 1d ago

Just for a beer

-2

u/arkhamtheknight 23h ago

Because she's light? Who knows honestly outside of drink?

12

u/MelodicGazelle7328 1d ago

40

u/Royal_View9815 1d ago

5

u/fauxwispzy 1d ago

the way he’s looking at it is so sweet, they’re definitely proud parents

66

u/A_Bethesda_Bug 1d ago

This is very cute but please do not let your dogs lick your babies face. A baby has a very weak immune system and the dog's tongue is covered with germs. I wouldn't let a dog lick my face but that's a personal thing, but do not ever let a dog lick a babies face, their immune systems are still very much developing.

57

u/Somethingisshadysir 1d ago

Let me just jump on here, don't let most of your relatives kiss the baby for the exact same reason.

-1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

7

u/Somethingisshadysir 1d ago

Within reason. But very early there is a lot of stuff that's really mild to adults but very serious for young infants.

7

u/AlanaK168 1d ago

Herpes can kill babies though

46

u/coconutyum 1d ago

Babies who grow up with pets have better immune systems as a result of all the germs they're exposed to - that's scientifically proven

34

u/Plumb789 1d ago

.....and they have far fewer allergies!

Don't mistake the germs that a family pet has (within reason) with the germs that are brought-often from miles away-by family and friends, who insist on kissing babies. They are often carrying human diseases.

-1

u/Lopsided_Tiger_0296 1d ago

They key word is “grow up”. It should be done gradually, not right when the baby comes home for the first time or else they could die

1

u/Real-Competition9533 8h ago

The bacteria and mutated viruses we have today are very dangerous, it’s not like when we were kids, and we have so called technological progress to thank for that😅

5

u/birbbbbbbbbbbb 1d ago

My understanding is that dog bites are either the same or somewhat less likely to get infected than human bites (at least that's what I've heard from ER doctors). Dogs don't have particularly dirty mouths by human standards.

Not that dogs should be licking babies' faces but people act like dogs are particularly gross when you're more likely to have humans get you sick.

8

u/InsideHousing4965 22h ago

Do you know how the immune system gets strong, right? Avoiding all germs is how we get people with allergies, intolerances and weak immune systems.

This is why people raised in farms or with constant contact with nature usually get sick less often and don't have as many allergies. Their immune system is just better becauae they grew up with animals, mud, plants, playing in the dirt...

1

u/InvisibleHook 19h ago

Sure but this baby is way too young to try and build their immune system by exposing them to germs. One sickness and it could mean the end of their life.

4

u/FlumpSpoon 16h ago

Baby literally has the protection of the mother's immune system. That's what breast milk does. Fun fact, the mother's nipples absorb any germs the baby is incubating present in their saliva and then manufacture antibodies in the breastmilk while the baby feeds.

1

u/InsideHousing4965 18h ago

Dude wtf. At which point in history are you living? The 18th century?

0

u/SpisDritt1 1d ago

I also don't let dogs lick me. Dogs will lick anything. They drink out of the toilet. They lick other dogs buttholes. You have no idea where that tongue has been.

1

u/RevolCisum 17h ago

I can't stand it when people let their dogs drink out of the toilet! I have a lid down rule at my house for this exact reason.

4

u/dragonrider1965 1d ago

Wanting to share his toy , so precious

4

u/ACynicalOptomist 1d ago

What a beautiful baby, and beautiful dogs of course.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHH MY FIRST WORD WAS DOG TOOOOOOO. My parents were pissed

3

I saw animated Feast 2014, about a dog and a baby. Knew I would be experiencing this and bawled like a baby myself!!!

5

u/tvnr 1d ago

It’s Miller time

2

u/Infinite-ok 1d ago

This is so sweet. Thank you for sharing it ❤️❤️❤️

2

u/_ElBee_ 19h ago

"This tiny human smells weird. I must disguise its weird smell!"
"It is also in need of food. I shall offer it a snack!"

2

u/cakethesnail 18h ago

I think people tend to forget that dogs can smell the parents in the child.. so of course they would be excited about a new family member who just so happens to smell like the people they already love.

2

u/RhydYGwin 15h ago

We had two cats when our daughter was born. They adored her and went everywhere around the house with her. Her first words were their names. I am so glad she grew up with them.

2

u/Chivalry4Me 14h ago

Goldens are the absolute best. Labs are up there, too. These are the best dogs for raising children. 😍

5

u/h0nest_Bender 1d ago

Daughter named Miller? Not the worst I've seen, but still a /r/tragedeigh

I thought the dog on the right was growling until I noticed he brought over a toy!

1

u/CalCollegeGal 13h ago

Such a loving relationship! Baby is adorable and so are the pups.

1

u/Chef2stars1414 12h ago

I love how a dog is with a baby and how they grow together and it's not just Golden's this is with all dogs its something that goes all the way down to our DNA and we share with them how we interact with each other thats like I was raised with a Rotty from birth and along with my sister and brother. I can remember being young and a baby sitter had to take us to meet my parents and the rotty was outside and he wouldnt let the babysitter leave the house with us due to him thinking she was stealing us and it took my dad coming home just to let her leave but I dont blame her he was a 225 lb dog that he was not letting her leave with us kids no matter what

1

u/Veneratte 11h ago

sacrifice to the elder gods...

1

u/KingFischer_74 11h ago

1

23 year old man and I'm tearing up. I miss my childhood babies so much, it's been two years since I lost them and i still think about them everyday.

1

u/a_man_of_memes 7h ago

Just scrolled from an r/nowhereyoufuck video, and this is exactly what i needed to see. Yall have a day that's better than mine, and keep those wheels a-rollin.

0

u/Euphoric-Log6132 14h ago

Just teach them to lick your baby especially from the face... That's really can be very dangerous to your kid

-1

u/Recent_Tangerine2070 1d ago

A baby girl named “Miller.” Along with her brothers “Anheuser” and “Busch.”

🤣🤣🤣

-1

u/YouStoleTheKishka 23h ago

😂 had me dying. Miller? You named your baby after a beer? Look at lil' Pabst play with his sister LaBatt!

0

u/Mysterious_Week8357 15h ago

Don’t let your dog lick you baby’s face

0

u/lawofthewilde 13h ago

This is all really sweet but why name your daughter Miller?

0

u/WhatANoob2025 12h ago

Gawd, americans just freaking suck at giving names to their children. "miller"? And worst of all for a girl? Just WTF man?

0

u/Own_Abalone6500 5h ago

The dogs licked themselves before they licked the baby

-1

u/xxdoomkitty 23h ago

This is sweet, but also my anxiety though this video was like 📈

-1

u/lylynatngo 20h ago

-1

u/IndependentRush6484 15h ago

-1

u/The_Blahblahblah 10h ago

1

u/zeides 1h ago
