Where to eat before brain surgery

Hey friends! On the 3rd, my son (14) is gonna have to have some brain surgery.

(I've got a post up here about it, if you want to know the whole story).

We'll be in Atlanta on the 2nd for a pre-op appointment and after that, before he's NPO, we'd love to take him out somewhere to eat for lunch that's awesome and fun.

It's gotta be nearish to Dunwoody. Probably not like wicked fancy, but he's an adventurous eater (though we think we probably need to steer clear of sushi just so we don't risk exposing him to a food-borne illness), so there's nothing really out of bounds here.

Anyway, thank you in advance for the recs!

Less fancy-
Mad Italian (cheesesteak)
Farm Burger
Wahaka across from Farm Burger in Dunwoody has been on my list to try their Al pastor
Clays (wings)
Chinatown food court on New Peachtree (variety of Chinese options)

Fancier-
Shoya Izakaya (and avoid the sushi in favor of other stuff, which is fine because their sushi doesn’t blow me away)
Oaxaca on Roswell Rd
Rumi’s
Food Terminal (by Mercedes HQ)

Good luck with it. Kind of a lousy reason to be looking for dinner suggestions.

It is a lousy reason to be looking for dinner suggestions, but I just want to give the kiddo something to look forward to in all of this.

Thanks for the suggestions! This is very helpful.

Sure. One other super casual idea is NFA Burger. Or slight trek to Heirloom Mkt for BBQ.

Interesting take? Why would you consider it a lousy reason? In my eyes, I see it as something more so of a special outing, one to spend time with loved ones, enjoy a fancy meal and to soak it all in. Idk, that’s just me being positive.

One would assume, all things considered, that OP would rather not have their kid need brain surgery. That was my point. Thx for the driveby editorial a few days later that didn’t really add anything.

Hmm, I see, I misread! What you’re saying is it’s a lousy and sad reason to be looking for a fancy dinner out, rather than a good or fun reason. I see, hey, I’ll take that! I apologize!

It's in the same shopping center as Super H Mart and a lot of other places, including several boba tea options and a karaoke place (if that's his kind of thing)!

I just read your other post 🫂 … I hope the surgery is quick and the recovery is smooth. Just chiming in to second some suggestions: Rumi’s and Heirloom BBQ

I work in Dunwoody and my favorite spot is Hyderabad House for biryani.

Hahaha I dunno that he'll dig Twin Peaks. He's much too socially conscious for the ol Hooters routine.

I mean he kinda loves everything. He's super easy to take out to eat.
