Seeking Game Recommendations ๐Ÿ‘€ [REQUEST] Looking for games structured similar to classic Pokemon

I hope this makes sense.

I was recently dabbling with some classic-style Pokemon games, and thinking on how well-designed they are for pick-up-and-put-down play. There's a story and a big world to explore, and some decent complexity to dive into, but it's always broken down in a way that makes it very convenient.

For example, if you're not in a battle or in a cutscene, you can always just save the game and turn it off with no negative consequences. You might get a little lost if you forget where you are, but the maps and your goals at any one moment are simple enough that it's not hard to pick right back up. And at any given moment, the most complexity you need to be concerned with is just your current team of six, and what healing items you've got on you.

So, can anyone recommend mobile games like this, where there's a world to explore and interesting build complexities and stuff, but the pacing is slow and the game is always easy to put down?

**Edit:** to be clear, while I will certainly check out other monster-tamer games, I'm not looking for that specific genre. Pokemon was just my best example of the sort of pick-up-put-down play I'm thinking of. If anything, the exploration elements is more important to me than anything else.

Seeking Game Recommendations ๐Ÿ‘€ [REQUEST] deck building like Marvel-Snap, addictive like Balatro with good quality in-game action

I'm looking for a game that gives the same strategic deck building play style like marvel snap or clash royale but it's addictive as much as balatro is... Also don't let it be pixel style or bad quality, one thing i really liked about marvel snap was the beautiful art styles and good animation for cards.

Help Me Remember This Game ๐Ÿค” Looking for old driving game i used to play

Im looking for an old android game i used to play around 2016-2019.

The game was about city driving through traffic while trying your best not to damage the car and break it. I remember it having low end, regular traffic for starter cars. I remember some side quests being driving as a taxi and pizza delivery. I dont recall the name of the game, but it mightve been something like "city driving 3d" or "city driving simulator". The app icon, i think, contained a red dodge viper. The game had pretty realistic visuals for its time and youd mainly drive in a straight line.

Help Me Remember This Game ๐Ÿค” Trying to find an old card game I played that had a whole story mode to it

This was anywhere from 2010-2018. I can't remember if this was android or iOS but I think it might've been android

I remember playing a card game that had a single player story line, all with actual protagonists and stuff like you'd find in a jrpg. I remember the game had three characters, two boys and one girl (at the very least) with one of them being sort of like a rival/antagonist.

The three characters also were playable cards and iirc, they could transform into monsters. The MC was a dragon from what I can remember. Also, I distinctly remember the cards evolving eventually as the story progressed and the art on it changing to reflect the age of the characters increasing

If anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong please tell me.

I know I have to combine the screwdriver handle and rod together but it will not let me. Nor will it let me put the batteries into the music box. Every time I try it kicks me out. For reference I examine the item, then touch the other item i want to use it on in the combine window, then touch the examined item again. Every freakin time it kicks me back out.

I am not doing anything different than in the video here.

Review ๐Ÿ“‹ 5 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 378)

Good Friday afternoon, and welcome to my weekly game recommendations thread based on the most interesting games Iโ€™ve played and that were covered on MiniReview this week.

Hope youโ€™ll find something you like :)

New to these posts? Check out the first one from 10 years ago here.

Let's get to the games:

Planet of Lana [Game Size: 3.84 GB] ($8.49)

Genre: Adventure / Platform - Offline

Orientation: Landscape

Required Attention: Full

tl;dr review by Alex Sem:

Planet of Lana is a high-quality platform adventure game with breathtaking sceneries and a large, beautiful world that we get to explore by running, jumping, climbing, crawling, swimming, and solving light environmental puzzlesโ€ฆ though most of our time is spent just running and jumping.

The game takes place on a lush, green planet teeming with clean water and a wide variety of animal species. Here, the members of a rural community lead a simple yet happy life - until one day, their homeworld gets invaded by strange mechanical creatures.

Seeing his cohabitants taken prisoners, our protagonist ventures on a perilous journey to bring them back.

With no superpowers or special abilities, our character must rely on her strong physique and heightened perception to overcome the many challenges she faces along the way - most of which require quick reflexes and sharp wit.

At a certain point, we even get a tiny companion that we can freely order around, which is where the game really starts to shine.

We progress through an abundance of colorful locations, from sparkling shores to lush forests, dark caves, murky swamps, and mysterious ruins. There truly is plenty to look at while we casually stroll from one puzzle to another.

Many argue that the game emphasizes visuals over actual gameplay, but I personally enjoyed its measured pacing - even when just running forward to the next puzzle.

My only issue was with the touch controls. They are fine at first, but as new actions get added, pressing these tiny buttons becomes really uncomfortable. Using an external controller provides a vastly superior experience.

Planet of Lana is a premium game without ads or iAPs.

It reminds a lot of Playdead's INSIDE (and, to some extent, Limbo). So if you also enjoy non-challenging environmental platformers, be sure to check out this one.

Red Dead Redemption NETFLIX [Total Game Size: 6.34 GB] (Netflix)

Genre: Action / Adventure - Online

Orientation: Landscape

Required Attention: Full

tl;dr review by Maya:

Red Dead Redemption is a highly immersive action-adventure game with a rich, character-driven narrative set in the dying days of the Wild West.

This critically acclaimed classic has finally landed on mobile as a full port of the original 2010 release, which means we follow former outlaw John Marston as heโ€™s forced to hunt down his past in exchange for freedom.

Even today, the storytelling holds up incredibly well, delivering a gritty, emotional journey packed with memorable side characters, moral dilemmas, and a lawless open world full of gunfights, bounties, and quiet moments of exploration.

That said, this is not the remastered version of the game. So the visuals are noticeably dated, with a relatively low resolution and a framerate capped at around 30โ€“40 FPS even on powerful devices. This isnโ€™t a deal-breaker, but players coming straight from newer open-world mobile games will definitely feel it.

The touch controls are serviceable and can be learned with time, but theyโ€™re clearly not ideal for the more complex situations like horseback gunfights. So playing with an external controller vastly improves the gameplay feel.

Red Dead Redemption is a premium title available via Netflix and as a stand-alone paid game as well.

While it may not reach the heights of its sequel, it remains an outstanding game thatโ€™s absolutely worth playing, whether youโ€™re revisiting it or experiencing John Marstonโ€™s story for the first time.

The Room: Old Sins [Game Size: 1.17 GB] ($4.99)

Genre: Puzzle / Adventure - Offline

Orientation: Landscape

Required Attention: Some

tl;dr review by Juruj:

The Room 4: Old Sins is a 3D escape room puzzle game where we must find and combine objects to solve obscure puzzles across multiple rooms. It's a beautiful and cleverly made game that takes the stale puzzle genre to new visual heights.

The gameplay takes place in an attic where a small magical dollhouse is placed on a table. This dollhouse can be manipulated in various ways, and we can travel into its individual rooms to solve intricate puzzles.

Since puzzle objects can be found in one room and then used in another, it's important to remember which rooms are active and which furniture and keyholes are found in each room.

Interacting with the many old apparatus found in each room is fascinating, and some of the machines are quite cleverly designed.

The biggest downside is that getting in and out of rooms takes a bit of time, so learning where an object must be used can get a bit bothersome. I also sometimes found myself just clicking around to see what works, which I didnโ€™t like.

Thankfully, the built-in hint system saves the game from ever becoming too challenging. Because itโ€™s easy to overlook a small detail while searching each room, and then get stuck. This is especially true since we can only zoom so far, most rooms feel too dark, and the graphics are a step down from the PC version.

The gameโ€™s story is told via in-game books. I think some might dislike this as it means we need to solve text puzzles to understand the story.

The Room 4: Old Sins is a premium game with no ads or iAPs.

It's quite a long game with many cool interactive mechanisms, making for a nice horror-style experience. It's definitely a unique experience on mobile - just like the other games in the "The Room" series.

Rainbow Six Mobile [Game Size: 4.35 GB] (Free)

Genre: FPS / Action - Online

Orientation: Landscape

Required Attention: Full

tl;dr review by AncientKris:

Rainbow Six Mobile is a well-made competitive tactical FPS adapted from the acclaimed PC game Rainbow Six Siege.

Its main mode, โ€œBombโ€, is a 5v5 Search and Destroy format with multiple rounds, where each team alternates between attacking and defending.

The Attackers' objective is to plant the defuser on one of two bomb sites or eliminate all Defenders. Meanwhile, the Defenders must prevent the plant, destroy the defuser, or eliminate all Attackers.

But this is where the tactical elements kick in, because each round begins with a 30-second preparation phase. During this crucial period, Attackers scout the map with drones to plan their approach, while Defenders barricade doors and set traps.

Unlike traditional FPS games, Rainbow Six Mobile features 28 Operators, each with unique abilities and playstyles, making each game feel different. Combined with the destructible walls, maze-like gameplay, and cameras and drones for gathering intel, the matches feel tactical, slow-paced, and complex - in a good way.

Fans of the original Siege will feel right at home, as the core mechanics translate faithfully to mobile. The main caveat is that some PC modes are currently absent.

The game runs smoothly even on mid-range devices, and controller support is available for those who prefer a console-like experience.

Rainbow Six Mobile monetizes via in-app purchases for resources, cosmetics, and a battle pass. While we earn the currency used to buy operators by playing matches too, unlocking them all can feel tedious and time-consuming. But thankfully, several are provided as task rewards.

If you're a fan of Siege or simply tired of mindless โ€œspray and prayโ€ mobile shooters, definitely give Rainbow Six Mobile a try - just as long as youโ€™re prepared to grind to unlock your operators.

FLAKE the Legend of Snowblind [Game Size: 900 MB] ($5.99)

Genre: Adventure / Point โ€˜n Click - Offline

Orientation: Landscape

Required Attention: Some

tl;dr review by Alex Sem:

Flake โ€“ The Legend of Snowblind is an old-school point-and-click adventure set in an atmospheric, snow-covered world with a rich history and deep lore that gradually unfolds as we deal with more mundane tasks.

We play as a strange creature made of snow, who lands on a frozen island with no memory of his past life. Following our guidance, he gets acquainted with the local inhabitants, learns about this place's tragic past, solves enigmatic mysteries of the ancient civilization, and even time-travels in the hope of averting an impending apocalypse.

Interestingly, thanks to the gameโ€™s morality system, some of our choices have long-lasting consequences. If weโ€™re nice and helpful to others, our protagonist feels warmth inside, which eventually turns him into water. And if weโ€™re rude and mean instead, he slowly turns to ice.

Unfortunately, some of these moral choices are restricted by the story - for example, we can't proceed without completing certain acts of vandalism, and some dialogue options make sense only if we deliberately try to be a jerk. All of this diminishes the influence of our free will. Hopefully, this otherwise interesting system will be improved in subsequent games.

On that note, this game is only the first one in the series. It ends on a cliffhanger, which may disappoint some dedicated players. Hopefully, it won't take another 7 years for the sequel to see the light of day.

Flake - The Legend of Snowblind is a premium game without ads or iAP.

Despite its long unskippable animation sequences, slightly uncomfortable controls, and poor homemade voice-acting, this is still a good representative of the genre.

DEV ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป [DEV] Gravity Hex: new puzzle game for Android

My new Android game Gravity Hex has just been approved by Google. It's a more advanced puzzle game where you have to prepare a level before you release a series of balls in order to save as many as you can. Here is a small video demonstration:

The game itself is free with in-game ads (that you don't really need to play the game). It can be downloaded from:

DEV ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป [DEV] BazzaBee - one tap game that will make you hate your toilet breaks

Hey, we're JO.DA Brothers and 10 years ago we made Run Jonah Run which through some miracle managed to get itself downloaded 250k times. So we did the most logical thing - absolutely nothing. Now after ten years of soul crashing corporate jobs ( just joking, we're doing alright ) we decided to give it another try. Enter BazzaBee, spin off of Flappy Bird with a bit of british humour here, some memes there and bunch of annoyance everywhere. We're in very early stage - just looking for some people to try it out, give feedback and ideally boost us in the almighty algorithms with some positive reviews and kind word.

P.S If i managed to reach you (read spam you) through some other subreddit, i apologize ... you know how it goes

P.P.S here's link to Run Jonah Run if anyone's interested and has device that can still run it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jodabrothers.jonah

P.P.P.S if you see bunch of reviews from people with same surname, those are all totally legit, don't worry about it

Seeking Game Recommendations ๐Ÿ‘€ [REQUEST]Hello I'm looking for a game recommendation

The type I'm looking for is elden ring and dark souls where there is character building and story, also a good community. Ive never bought a paid games that much but if it's worth it I'll think about it. I like pixel games and old school type graphics games too. The level of graphics is not a necessity but good art style is.

DEV ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป [DEV] WordTogether just launched on Android: unscramble 7 letters into one word, then find the words hiding inside

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, I'm the solo dev(vibe coder) of WordTogether, which just went live on Google Play.

The idea: every puzzle gives you seven letters that spell exactly one word. Find it, then hunt for the shorter words hiding inside it. Bonus words earn you hints.

What's in it

  • 1,000 puzzles across Easy, Normal and Hard (Easy shows a clue, Hard gives you nothing)
  • A new daily puzzle with a streak, and streak freezes for a missed day
  • Endless mode
  • Plays fully offline
  • Optional friends board: add someone with a code, see how you both did on the daily. Preset reactions only, no chat

Being upfront: it's free, it has ads, and there are optional purchases. No account is needed to play.

I'd really like your feedback, especially on the difficulty curve and whether the hints feel fair.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.derbzz.wordtogether
