Brave people. They don't have anything to fight back the government with on their own. But they're still willing to put their actual lives on the line for what they believe in. Can do nothing but respect it to be honest. Just a shame that this usually leads to horrific outcomes for protesters in Iran.

u/BeneficialInside3901 16h ago

Yeh didn’t they kill 30~50k protestors last time in a week? You have to respect the courage but I have to say I’d rather they find some other way, at least until the rest of the world can somehow support them. Hopefully this is what’s happening behind the scenes.

2

u/ApprehensiveSyrup993 2h ago

It was in less than 48 hours. Short bursts of mass murder

-23

u/DVSdanny 14h ago

They killed a lot of protesters but idr if that number was confirmed or not.

34

u/Even-Geologist-3134 14h ago

Iran international revealed in a leaked document of a number around 33 to 35. Time magazine said senior iranian health officials put it aroind 30k.

Protesting in Iran is a death sentence. I had hoped that Trump would do one thing right and feed the protesters weapons. Nope. He couldn't care less about them.

56

u/Logical-Grab-1363 16h ago

I believe he did send weapons, however the political faction he chose to use to transfer the weapons then stole them and resold them. It appears getting them smuggled into Iran and distributed in any numbers that would make a difference is difficult

36

u/Rafodin 16h ago

That was not a "political faction" I believe, but Iraqi Kurds, at least according to what Trump claimed. Not the same thing at all.

There are no political factions in Iran that are on the people's side. That's the problem, the government will arrest and execute anyone who even thinks of starting some kind of organized movement against it.

10

u/mylk43245 15h ago

And the us has fucked over the Kurds twice in the past decades and I don’t think Iraqi Kurds invading Iran would pull off a positive result in any way

2

u/ApprehensiveSyrup993 2h ago

They weren’t given to the Iraqi Kurds for them to invade. They were supposed to be smuggled inside Iran. Iranians have always called for and always known that it is on them alone to be the fighting force to take back their country. They never asked for an invasion

4

u/EnvironmentalBox6688 9h ago

We gave weapons to the people we rugpulled multiple times and they stole them!

Who could have seen this coming?

6

u/Snigglybear 13h ago

He should of sent them to the Baloch people. They’re putting IRGC members in the ground as we speak.

8

u/BeneficialInside3901 16h ago

Yeh so many things Trump has done that I could “in theory” support as I look for silver linings around some vanta black clouds, but man everything he touches turns to shit 😐

2

u/wotikuli 15h ago

Don't worry, he'll redeem himself by building a nice ballroom and the arch.

1

u/ApprehensiveSyrup993 2h ago

He is arming them. They are waiting for their Shah’s final call to come back out to the streets. You will see. The Immortal Guard are being given weapons to put an end to this regime for good.

0

u/TallyHoBababana 9h ago

I had hoped that Trump would do one thing right and feed the protesters weapons.

Let's try this hairbrained scheme for the millionth time, maybe this time it'll work!

-5

u/BigPlunk 7h ago

I had hoped Americans would have half the courage of these Iranian protestors, stop making excuses about how brutal ICE/police can be, and take a meaningful stand against authoritarianism and corruption, but here we are...

3

u/Penguinmanereikel 5h ago

Minneapolis had riots

1

u/BigPlunk 4h ago

Minnesotans showed courage and resolve and pushed ICE out.

-13

u/Lucas-O-HowlingDark 16h ago

They’re better at fighting back against corrupt governments than the idiotic country south of mine which screams about their guns and amendments to take up arms against corrupt governments.

I am all for equality and girls freedom / education but let's not be too naive here. The initial goal of the war on Iran was regime change and it surprised Israel and the US that the indiscriminate bombarding and killing day after day just brought them together and stronger.

Next the ploy was to pump in funds to rebel groups within the country and the Kurds to cause internal rift as they didn't want to risk putting boots on the ground (lessons learnt in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq). That didn't work either.

I'm guessing the funds have reached the right people and the pot is being stirred to get rid of the administration and put a puppet govt like Venezuela or the rest of the Middle East, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh etc or even Iran before the Ayatollahs .

It's strategic and well thought of as the US bases in the ME are done, Iron Dome has been penetrated, Hormuz closed, Red Sea and East West Pipeline in danger and the underdog held out.

There's lineups at the Gas Stations in Iran (ancient civilization sitting on one of the world's largest oil deposits), crumbling infrastructure, water problems and rubble yet the protest is for the removal of the veil. Yep ....angry girls ! Is this the beginning of the end ??!!

EDIT : To the ones handing out negative likes to my unbiased comment, let’s hear your counter instead of hiding. I’m always open to a geopolitics debate.

8

u/Stoifan91 9h ago

I think the issue is that the regime in Iran ever since it took over. Has weaponized the Islamic faith into an Iron fist against it's own people. Making it into an iron clad rule of law that the government is always right. And considering that they have no weapons of their own. My best guess would be to at least try to go for the best option they possibly can. Strike at the very core of what usually tips the scales in Iran. Restrictions and very insular processes due to a weaponized faith against themselves. Those "women rights and equality" do stem from the regimes religious laws.

2

u/Time_Traveller_2225 8h ago

I lived in KSA as an Aramco expat between the gulf wars and have seen the Muthawas (religious police) in action. I like your views and comments especially about how the regime has weaponized religion while the current crown prince of KSA is guiding his society from similar extremism towards moderation. 🍻 Cheers mate !

2

u/Stoifan91 6h ago

For sure! It's a slow process adapting old religions to the modern era. KSA is slowly getting there. Still, they're making an effort. Though i don't think they're necessarily saints in any capacity. But it is a work in progress. Cheers!

3

u/NAh94 13h ago

Is this the beginning of the end???🤡

Hopeful neocons have been calling that “this is the end of Iran” every decade since the hostage crisis whenever a rumor of a protest occurs.

The only way out of this now is a very brutal ground invasion or an extremely costly siege into attrition.l that will take years, both of which the American people have no appetite or patience for. The regional powers in the ME don’t want escalation because energy infrastructure is an easy soft target, and NATO couldn’t give two fucks. Hell, even Israel, the people who asked for this war, can’t even seem to be willing to offer more beyond sitting and watching on the sidelines. The current state of affairs is not a path towards meaningful change. It’s either going to be a return to somewhat worse of an outcome than the status quo was, or we are going to finish the job in a very unpopular manner and the GOP has no more appetite for falling on this sword.

A puppet state is also a hilarious concept. If we had the ability to project that sort of power in the Middle East, don’t you think we would’ve done it in Iraq or Afghanistan? The power vacuums that arise from these conflicts are too intense to begin with any hope for a puppet state. Give me a break.

I love my people who will not take oppression anymore! Fight this disease! Fight this archaic ideology and this sick system!

I have to thank my parents, aunts, and uncles who decided to get the hell out of there at the start of the 80's. I have 4 female cousins, and I don't want to imagine what could have happened to them if our families were still there. I really hope this regime is toppled sooner than later, for the sake of all of these innocent girls and ladies and also for all the brave men who stand up for them in the face of likely being killed for doing so.

34

u/Better_March5308 17h ago

My sister in law's family got out of Afghanistan before the USSR invaded. I'm sure she's thought about how their lives would have turned out many times.

-62

u/Former_Explorer2457 15h ago

Dude I'm Iranian most of these things are bullshit. Women aren't treated badly like they say in media lol. The gov isn't the best but it's not as bad as the western media says.

35

u/fatbunny23 15h ago

Are you an Iranian woman?

-24

u/Former_Explorer2457 13h ago

Nope but I have a sister and 4 cousins who are women and never felt they are inferior compared to men in public. If you don't want to believe me I don't blame you but take my advice: don't believe the shitty American propaganda.

24

u/Icy_Preparation_9609 13h ago

Here you have a moron who speaks for 5 women who have no voice because they are being oppressed by the said moron and his friends

-17

u/Former_Explorer2457 12h ago

First of all that's very rude of you to talk this way. I've been in this country my whole life but your somone thousands of years ago who's brainwashed and believes everything he sees. Please give me your idea of how women are treated here and how they're oppressed then I'll answer you.

24

u/AsuranGenocide 12h ago

Compulsory hijab is right there

16

u/HelixHasRisen 9h ago

And suddenly fucking silence. Guy promised he could debunk evrything and couldn't get past hurdle one.

26

u/Few_Competition1801 14h ago

did your government not shut off your internet and kill thousands of protests yes or no?

-13

u/Former_Explorer2457 13h ago

It didn't shut up the internet although they disconnected it from international internet so we could use Iranian apps and some foreigner apps like Google. About the protests I agree the gov is shitty but that doesn't make my statement untrue. Women have far mor rights then westerners think they have in iran.

25

u/Icy_Preparation_9609 14h ago

can the women wear clothes that they want???

-5

u/Former_Explorer2457 13h ago

Yes it was not like this till 2022 but when people protested the mandatory hijab, the government gave up about hijab. Now most women in cities like tehran don't have hijab you can see some videos of tehran in YouTube to understand.

14

u/Icy_Preparation_9609 13h ago

I didn't say hijab are you dumb?

I asked: can women wear what they want?

1

u/Former_Explorer2457 12h ago

Right now yes although it wasn't like this four years ago.

7

u/Bubbly-Treacle-4334 9h ago

dude your government murders thousands of protestors for not wanting to be religiously oppressed. STFU

1

u/Former_Explorer2457 7h ago

Maybe world isn't literally the things you see in news and media?

1

u/Bubbly-Treacle-4334 2h ago

Either you are extremely ignorant or you think we are. We know Iran is full of great people. We also know it murders dissenters for protesting against it's oppressive regime.

42

u/EquivalentSnap 17h ago

It’s so oppressive to women’s rights. They’re brave protesting

13

u/MugiwarraD 14h ago

power to the people.

22

u/Snoo_47323 17h ago

Brave Brave

9

u/vincentveganvega 14h ago

This is actually brave.

5

u/Frequently_lucky 10h ago

Leave some balls for the rest of us.

3

u/Illustrious-Sky-4631 13h ago

Is this over the Iraqi students accident?

56

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 16h ago

Western leftists are just as big an enemy to these people as the Basij are

15

u/V-Right_In_2-V 9h ago

Bingo. More people need to speak out about this. The marriage between western leftists and Islam is a disgrace. They are shameless hypocrites

8

u/WolfySpice 8h ago

The hardest thing for me to accept is that, as someone who's big on critical thinking, so many people who describe themselves these days as 'progressive' are just as braindead as religious conservatives.

8

u/V-Right_In_2-V 8h ago

Their political ideology is their religion. It fills the same niche as religious devotion does in other people, and comes with its clouding of judgment, purity tests, and propaganda outlets

4

u/termites2 6h ago

Specifically, this is about the treatment of students and women in Iran.

If you asked any one of those hundreds of thousands of women in Iran who was responsible for their oppression, do you think they would more likely say the Basij, or western leftists?

Attempting to equate the two is just absurd.

6

u/V-Right_In_2-V 6h ago

Zero would say western leftists. They almost certainly have no idea what western leftists are even doing

4

u/termites2 6h ago

Right, so it's ridiculous to call them equal enemies to these people as the Basij.

3

u/aporter0509 3h ago

If they support their terrorist oppressors, they sure are hurting their cause.

•

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 36m ago

I'm not even talking specifically about the rhetoric they spew to support the IRGC in the public opinion. I'm talking about the fact that they, unwittingly or not, donate to front organisations of the IRGC whilst believing they are fighting for a cause. Go and look it up, FBI has already been on to this connection since 2024.

-9

u/termites2 13h ago

That's ridiculous. Are you really comparing the Basij, who have killed tens of thousands of women in Iran, with the Western left, who campaign for the freedom and rights of women in Iran?

•

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 29m ago edited 25m ago

HAHA really? The FBI has already revealed many leftist organisations in the US (most infamously the DSA) that either get funding, or donate to front organisations of the IRGC

And that's only in the US where enforcement against black money donations from adversaries is pretty strong. Go and look at how the IRGC has funded European leftist orgs. It's much much worse

-2

u/No-Promotion-1921 10h ago

Yes they did, because there is not a place on earth where conservative right wingers aren't mostly mentally handicapped.

2

u/ApprehensiveSyrup993 2h ago

That person you’re describing is most likely an Iranian who also most likely watched as western leftists took the side of the radical islamist murders that every Iranian knows have blood on their hands in the name of their religion. I personally was an Iranian American democrat since long before I could vote. I no longer considered myself on the same side of the people that sided with obvious oppressors. That commenter is right, unfortunately. Western leftists gave no care about the murder of Iranians. They just liked that the islamic regime government was a symbol against trump. How dumb is that?

I’m liberal and I see liberals supporting the IRGC everyday on Reddit. Someone will point something out and then the liberal IRGC bots will glaze the IRGC by saying the IRGC can do anything and sacrifice regular Iranians to face the U.S. when in reality the IRGC is scared of its population rebelling.

-5

u/No-Promotion-1921 10h ago edited 10h ago

Okay?

Does that make them any less religiously conservative? My point still stands.

Frankly, I try not to base my political views of what a handful of anonymus accounts online say. Those can easily be faked with bots.

35

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 16h ago

I am a liberal. I believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I believe that every person is equal under the law. I believe every person must be willing to embrace dissent and criticism and use it as feedback to improve their ideology.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. Because you have bought into the idea that your ideology is infallible, you no longer see people as real people. You see them as an abstract mass who must be exploited or destroyed depending on their allegiance. That is the biggest failure of monsters like you, and it makes your behaviour almost identical to the religious fundamentalists you claim to hate.

14

u/United_Intention_323 16h ago

I always tell people to go look at the collection of positions held by parties in different countries. They don’t line up with either US party. They are tailored to voting blocks and historical patterns. It has nothing to do with which positions are objectively correct.

12

u/Athe0s 15h ago

Oh my god, thank you.

I sometimes feel alone, surrounded by extremists who view themselves as stoic and rational while they scream at each other, and constantly threaten violence. It's nice to know you're out there.

-2

u/No-Promotion-1921 10h ago

Uh huh. So let me ask you, can you name a single place on earth where religious conservatives have ever not stood in the way of liberal values?

I'm not even a liberal, so there goes your little theory, but nice try. Would love to see your answer.

•

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 30m ago

Did I say otherwise?

Wow you actually did not engage with what I'm saying which is that it really doesn't matter whether you guys cloak your authoritarianism in religion or a secular religion like socialism. It's still authoritarianism. It's still oppression.

24

u/Exotic-Age166 16h ago

Nothing like painting an entire group of millions of people you have never met, shook hands with, or even had the stones to have a real conversation with as brain dead incest folks.

You’re the reason we lose elections we should likely win. You turn middle of the road votes against us with stupid babbling.

When you go as far left you become a right wing bigot. Take a breath, look in the mirror, you are the monster you hate.

4

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 16h ago

No, don't indulge him. This is not about a domestic election in a safe secure Western country. It's not about left or right. It's about oppression vs liberty. There is no reason for him to say such vile things about anybody unless he has believed he is uniquely entitled to absolute power.

1

u/Inuyaki 9h ago

Nothing like painting an entire group of millions of people you have never met, shook hands with, or even had the stones to have a real conversation with as brain dead incest folks.

So I hope you also had a problem with OP comparing millions of "Western leftits" with a homicidal militia that killed tens of thousands of those women?

-3

u/No-Promotion-1921 10h ago

Ah yes, "religious conservatives", known worldwide for being one homogenous group...

7

u/Minimum-Crow674 11h ago

Your down votes give me hope

-1

u/No-Promotion-1921 10h ago

I mean this is the right wing babyplace for people not tolerated on other subs right?

2

u/termites2 12h ago

I don't think he is mentally challenged, just ignorant.

Some people are so attached to conservative religious ideology that they believe it is infallible, even after it causes the deaths of tens of thousands of people. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

11

u/Friendly_Estate1629 11h ago

They’re all actually Mossad agents according to certain subreddits

1

u/Man_of_Many_Hats 9h ago

i can't tell if you're being literal or not. if you are, which subreddits?

4

u/Friendly_Estate1629 8h ago

I think the rules here prohibit me from calling them out specifically but just look up Iran protests and you’ll find them

1

u/ApprehensiveSyrup993 2h ago

See how ~some people~ parrot this propaganda about the protesters being Mossad after the Islamic regime government tried and failed to spread that same propaganda to the Iranian masses in the beginning? Tells you a lot about who these people are listening to.

4

Trump really fixed Iran, didn't he?

1

u/ApprehensiveSyrup993 2h ago

You aren’t up to date. This is an ongoing situation and Trump isn’t done with Iran. He’s even hinting towards escalation with Iran again soon. But either way, yes. He has already sped up the downfall of the regime. All that awaits now is the Shah’s final call when Iranians will come out to the streets armed this time.
