Discussion Engagement bait titles
Maybe I’m just turning into an angry old man shouting at clouds who is way behind the times but I’m getting a bit fed up of the massive increase in engagement bait titles on this sub over the past few months. It’s usually always one of the following:
- ‘first month in wildlife photography, here are my favourites please tell me I’m amazing even though I’ve just started’
- ‘I’m an x year old young photographer, look at how great I am’
‘Here are some wildlife photos, which is your favourite and also tell me how brilliant they are’
‘Which one of these photos should I enter into a competition but let’s be honest they’re all fantastic’
These posts always end up being the most popular and the ones I get push notifications about, but to me it’s a cynical way to drive engagement over other posts. I’d much rather know where they’re taken and/or what they are of but maybe that’s just me. If not, maybe the mods could consider updating the community rules to change to only allow locations and/or animal names in the title. This would allow people to find out the key information first (often people don’t even bother including it, again is that for engagement so they get people asking about location?) and would allow it to be a more level playing field on what posts become popular, making the key determinant being the quality of photos rather than the title.
Rant over!

Discussion Reminder: all posts must be OC. Posting a photo which you did not take will get you a PERMANENT ban.
I've noticed a significant uptick in stolen images lately. This subreddit is OC only, no exceptions.
Please make sure to report any posts which you think break this rule. Even if you're not positive, it's better to submit a report than not. We always review all reports to make sure that we aren't erroneously banning people.

Insect Little Painted Lady
Went out to family property in the country to shoot some butterflies before the last of the wildflowers are gone for the season. I’m absolutely in love with this profile shot of a painted lady! Decided to do two different color edits, which grabs your eye? I’d like to hear!
Edit: I do realize I left part of the masking off under the belly, luckily I save my original tiffs 😅

Bird Two siblings, One pillow
My brain was already going ‘awwwww’ after the first one flopped on its belly. I couldn’t stop grinning when the second gosling came and laid its head on its sibling.

One of those moments when a frame makes you stop completely. My eyes filled with tears, and for a moment, there was nothing else just me and the feeling of being completely present.

Large Mammal Some of my favourite leopard photos
Over the past years I’ve been photographing wildlife in Africa. Leopards are absolutely my favourite animals of all time.
What do you think about these photos?
