For prior context, I had seen the character Jane from the Webtoon The Ties that Bind Us, and was reminded that whenever I see a character dressed in a darker manner, they tend to automatically become a favorite character. I just love the overall aesthetic and atmosphere. This being said, despite coming off as goth, Jane's equally not afraid of color, sometimes adorning red orange accessories, and when I look up any form of goth, everything tended to be black. Retaining color is very important to me despite aiming for a darker aesthetic.
This being said, after doing a little bit of research, I thought maybe the whimsigothic community might be the place to turn. However, upon seeing many outfit posts, I became more and more confused on what I was aiming for.
Are there any hard and fast rules for whimsigothic that keep the overall looks grounded and unified? What is you guys usual process for creating outfits? Are there any rules you personally have for what you're looking for that give your thrifting a sense of direction?
Picture of Jane included so as not to mention her without giving her a face.
