New, what is it? What’s attached to this car?
Why do they have this attached to the car? Seen in Chicago.
Guys, I know it’s an axle but why would you attach this to your car like that? Are they pulling it around the parking lot? I mean, you can’t drive very far like that.

Looks like a rear dif on casters.

That's exactly what it is. I bet they chained it up so no one steals it.

Yeah, you can see the big lock too. Bet they are in a scetchy area and someone would swoop in and grab that shit for scrap if they didn't lock it up somehow

It's on a rolling cart. Guy might not have had a trailer and that's how he is dragging it home. I've seen dumber shit done.

Yep.
Bout as safe as a 13 year old Alabama boy babysitting his 11 year old sister for 3 days.

It's an axle on a furniture dolly. The vehicle has nothing to do with it other than being a place to chain it to until the repair can be done.

Man, here I was thinking I'm responsible by making sure my spare is properly inflated and carrying a spare seperentine belt. Couple spare bulbs and a screwdriver and ratchet in the glovebox.
This guy though, he carries a whole spare axle 😂

It’s probably Chevy Chase. An upset cop is going to pull him over and explain how that little Miata he was towing probably tried to keep up with him for miles.

That's a front diff for 4 wheel drive look at the offset
2
u/Wolf_Ape 2h ago
I think maybe it’s just hard to tell where the diff is actually positioned from the angle here.
I don’t see any indication that those hubs can rotate.
Front wheels need to turn.
Also there aren’t a lot of solid front axle vehicles with 5 or 6 lug hubs these days.
I don’t think that’s the front axle to a late model wrangler or grenadier, and it’s too wide for the other relatively recent possibilities.
Odds are it’s a gm/Chevy rear axle.

ITT: no-one can spell axle correctly.

u/Southern-Worker7762 2h ago
Do you think the correct spelling is “no-one”?

No-one: The hyphenated version is sometimes used or accepted in British English and UK style guides, but it is much less common and generally considered incorrect in American English.

it's the solution one person rigs up to get the rear axle assy. to it's destination -- it's not going inside that vehicle

u/FearlessWord2653 2h ago
I mean it looks like some kind of redneck dolly to move that spare axle? Some harbour freight furniture dollys and a chain.
Edit: this should be in idiots towing things

I don't think it is.

"I don't think..."
One should never admit to that.

That looks like the rear axle - I assume they're going to replace the broken one in the car with that one.

Looks like an adapter for railroad tracks

It doesn't. But for some reason you aren't the only one that thinks that!
