Found this tiny metal thing in my shower weeks ago. Been keeping it, just in case i found out where it belongs to. Still didn't figure it out.

Wadcutter Pellet for an air rifle

That's either a .177 or .22 pellet, no doubt.

In fact, i do 😅

Be sure to wash your hands carefully and thoroughly. Those are usually made of lead or an alloy high in lead.

Solved!

u/verivicious 7h ago
Now why was it in your shower?
41
u/Lopsided_Ad_4156 7h ago
Still no clue! I don’t have kids ór an air rifle. My bathroom window is facing the street and I open it regularly for fresh air. But as most of you suggested it doesn't make sense since it is "unused"?
45
u/Abolish_ICEIS 7h ago
Do you have a communal laundry room?
If so that'd probably be it. Someone did a little plinkin and missed a pellet in their jeans pocket that came out in the laundry, you cleaned your bathroom towels and it got caught in a fold then when you hung up the towels it fell out in the shower.

u/garbage-girl-xoxo 6h ago
I don't know, I think the truth is a lot more complicated than that.
5
u/meepmeepmeep9999 6h ago
…What?
7
u/Potential-Draft-3932 6h ago
I also want to hear their theory now. I bet it involves quantum mechanics and time travel
12
u/notsoFunNegotiation 6h ago
If it had been shot, it would not be in perfect shape. That was dropped by somebody.
1
u/Pnut1022 1h ago
Actually depends on what you shoot
1
u/jnievele 34m ago
If you shoot aerogel at a long distance maybe. But even then there would be evidence of the rifling engaging with the rim, which is not visible here

it's used. Flat head means it was collided with a flat surface.
UPD I was wrong. There are many types of diablo pellets, and some of them has a flat head. I only used coned
16
7
u/Spare_Chemical122 7h ago
No, the flat head is by design to make it cut clean through paper targets. This pellet is definitely unused.

Look at the bottom of your shower curtain, OP.
There may be little packages of weights to keep the curtain straight while you shower.
The object is an air rifle pellet, like everyone said, but it may have come from your shower curtain because it was ballast.
18
u/_Bon_Vivant_ 7h ago
This sounds most likely.
2
u/Wow_Parzival 7h ago
Most likely indeed. The factory ran out of magnet weights so they asked little Jimmy for some .22 cal pellets to use instead 😂
8
u/Nein-Toed 5h ago
They are cheap.
I had a cheap curtain pop one of the pouches and fishing weights fell out. They just throw whatever shit in there it seems.

That’s a pellet for a pellet rifle. Not sure why it’d be in your shower though.
13
u/socobuzz 8h ago edited 5h ago
If it had been fired it would likely be deformed and have indentations on the cone part where the barrel rifling would be.

.177 wadcutter pellet for an air rifle.
15
u/WhiskeyMikeMike 8h ago edited 7h ago
I have some .177 next to me I’d say it looks closer to .22 cal, maybe even .25 depending on OP’s hand size. Addition: I’d also say it’s unfired.
5
u/HerMajestysButthole2 7h ago
It could be a larger caliber. Still a wadcutter pellet from an air rifle.
0
u/Jersey_76 3h ago
Not .178? You used a caliper, I assume
0
u/Bidenh8er 1h ago
That's a standard caliber measurement.... but being from a communist state, that treats a Red Ryder BB gun as a firearm, you wouldn't know that...

u/Jens_Fischer 7h ago
Some sort of diabolo air gun pellet.
It could be just weights though, lead's pretty heavy and people might repurpose them for something else.
It's probably not shot through an airgun though, since the pellets deforms on impact but this one still looks new.
6
u/Freak_Engineer 7h ago
Air rifle pellet. A weird thing to find in your shower, but not dangerous. Unless you eat it, of course, it is made of lead.
3
u/Pax_Eterna_4991 6h ago
They are not all made of lead, I use copper ones for taking out bullfrogs in my pond. There are some fancy and expensive ones out there too.
7
2
u/ResponsibilityFew938 8h ago
Airgun pellet. Since it appears to be in tact, I don’t think some punk was shooting your presumed shower window (unless it is paper thin glass—- check for holes… and shower glass!)

u/zeeper25 7h ago
Look for a dead rubber duck with a decent size entry and a gaping exit wound

Unused you say?
(1.) If your window was open and the pellet lost enough velocity it's entirely possible that the shower curtain absorbed the impact.
(2.) Not all pellet rifles have rifling, so it's possible that the pellet's outer circumference would have no indications of being fired through a smooth-bore combination BB/pellet-rifle as they have no rifling or any BBs fired through them would loose/bypass too much air through the rifling and therefore have a lot less velocity.

u/dph3onix 7h ago
for some reason, this Reminds me of a joke I heard when I was a kid about someone mistakingly putting metal BBs on a cake instead of decorative candy silver balls. One of the party guest after having eaten the cake said “I wish you would’ve told me about this sooner—this morning. I bent over farted and shot my parakeet!” Har! As a kid, I thought that was so funny

u/InevitableFun3417 4h ago
As already stated, that is a pellet rifle projectile. If it was in your shower, does your shower have a window? If so, che8it for entry holes. If no holes are found it's a mystery how it got in your shower. If you find a hole, you and anyone else living there literally dodged a pellet.

Because I haven't seen this solution yet and that it's reddit I have to tell you the bad news. Your partner is cheating on you and this was left by their affair partner as a warning of sorts. I'm very sorry to have to break this to you like this. 😂 (Just kidding.)

Hummmm, question should how n why you found that particular item in your shower 🚿💭, Looks like somebody is dropping items in your house to leave Clue's, first clue ...You'll shoot your eye 😉👀👁️ out kiddo is thee first n real clue 🗝️🧩

u/Relevant_Ad_6184 1h ago
If it doesn't crush easy , maybe it's not a pellet. Crushing easy means it's made out of lead which they normally are, Yet it seems more decorative , almost like it's a small flower planter out of a miniature monopoly game or possibly miniature dollhouse.
1
u/Sweaty-Dot-2488 7h ago
I used to have some Stoeger .22 pellets that looked very similar.
This one appears unused to me, no obvious signs of the rifling in the soft lead. In addition, the head/tip isn’t even mildly deformed.
1
u/BluesFanFromDay1 4h ago
I’ve never seen an air gun pellet that had polished/plated look like that. Maybe, though, it spent a couple cycles in the laundry and was hence polished.
1
u/Big-Organization1219 7h ago
I’m sorry to tell you this, but apparently you have tiny people living in your bathroom. That happens to be a sliver goblet

u/Intelligent-Art-5000 8h ago
As others have said, it's a lead pellet for an air rifle. Do you have children? A spouse that hates squirrels?
1
u/Devi_gurl 4h ago
Looks like the knob for the diverter for your tub spout but I’m sure you would have noticed it is missing.

Oh dang sister that looks important my love oh damn that looks important like a salt and pepper shaker set

u/Candid_Fig_796 4h ago
That’s a petter for an air rifle. It has not been shot. It would have rifle markings and it does not.

u/xLukAtomTenteeSx 3h ago
Shoes pick up all kinds of random shit, should change this to “Things found by the paranoid “
1
u/ProjectManageMint 8h ago
It looks like a pellet for an air powered pellet gun, but might be too large for that.
1
u/etanail 8h ago
In addition to the standard 4.5 mm (0.177), there are other calibers ranging from 5.5 mm (0.22) to 12.7 mm. There are also even larger calibers, but these are more like rare specimens than what one would call standard calibers, and they are truly large bullets.
3
u/meatflaps-69 8h ago
.25 isnt that uncommon
1
u/etanail 7h ago
0.177 is the most popular caliber, which is not classified as a firearm under the laws of most countries around the world. In Ukraine, a special permit is required for larger calibers, and some countries even impose restrictions on bullet energy. The 0.25 caliber is even rarer here than the 5.5 mm (0.22).

Flat head pellet for airgun me and my friends used to shoot eachother with them 🤣

u/ozette22 13m ago
It could be used. If it hit your shower curtain or something soft as it was slowing…

u/Suspicious_Bat_7496 7h ago
That is for the little troll to drink his ale out of, while he watches you shower.

Looks like it goes
In the water diverter when you go from tub water to shower
