New, what is it? I found this bust about 20cm deep while digging. Who is this person?

I live south Netherlands, was about 20cm under the grass. Its almost a clay like material, I rinsed it with water and it looks to be slightly dissolving in the water.

Here Boy 🤣

11

u/shadowdance55 10h ago

Yeah, he's gone, but his music lives on. And Mozart don't go shopping no more. You'll never meet Liszt or Brahms again, and Elgar doesn't answer the door.

5

u/AlbertTheHorse 7h ago

Me in 7th grade in the 1970s laughing at that joke.

I think someone released Beethoven’s 9th in disco form that year.

I’ve had a good look at it and would say it’s unfinished Beethoven

3

u/madmagic008 11h ago

Quite possible, pictures look quite different but when looking at other busts, I do see quite alot of resemblance. But at the same time I find alot of random pictures of busts that's share alot of resemblances

3

u/Revolutionary-Law382 11h ago

He's a decomposing composer.

2

u/Coinsworthy 12h ago

Looks like Mozart as well.

Ludwig van Beethoven, german classical musician. Often a mix up. Hes german and went to Austria. Hitler was Austrian and went to Germany.

16

u/El_Morgos 11h ago

Dang, that's why I can't figure out Mein Kampf on the piano...

6

u/Slow_Perception 10h ago

I don't know but in the 1950s, my gran (working in A&E) had a fella come in with a bust of Napoleon stuck in his rectal cavity. OP, maybe wear gloves just in case.

3

1

u/Ncfetcho 9h ago

It's plaster, I'm fairly sure. I have one likeit.

3

u/Fartony 9h ago

Doesn't make it any less weird lol

3

u/Ncfetcho 9h ago

Ok,fair. I raised a moot point

1

u/Kitsunegari_Blu 7h ago

He’d have to been plastered to fall so hard face first, he planted himself.

6

u/Ncfetcho 9h ago

That is a large, plaster bust of Beethoven, and I have one just like it, that I bought between 2006 and 2010 from a " buy something and get a free onion " furniture shop that ALSO had a giant strpper heel that was a chair that I DESPERATELY wanted, but wasn't able to get before they closed up shop.

2

u/Kitsunegari_Blu 7h ago

Crazy…I had to buy a stupid Pleaser Chair, because someone snagged the huge Beethoven Plaster I wanted…

1

u/RedRoachDK 4h ago

Was it a good onion?

6

u/taranathesmurf 5h ago

My thought at once was Beethovan. I looked it up. Apparently there is a tradition if you give up studying the piano, you bury a bust of Beethovan face down in the dirt.

4

u/madmagic008 2h ago

Interesting. It was face down but I couldn't find anything confirming this tradition

4

u/Poetjie 11h ago
