TIL that in 1993, Congressman Bill Paxon got down on one knee on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and proposed to fellow Rep. Susan Molinari. She said, “Yes—but get up.” They married the following year.

And apparently they’re still married, a good 32 years!

32 years? I guess Paxon did change his mind on term limits after all

And he's cheating on her left and right...and dumb enough to get caught on video doing it.

Same. Like I thought he went into Congress after staring in Pederator 2

The first Predator does have two future governors, so it's not that farfetched.

We missed out on Senator Predator.

Though I guess we technically have several of those today.

Wasn’t he elected to congress in a later season of Big Love?

I don’t think you’re allowed to take motions to the floor without having them seconded first

53

u/JosephFinn 14h ago

You could argue she seconded it by saying yes.

That would explain why there are so many sex scandals. They're all poly.

Thank you for your donation, but your wife is far too young for the Democrats and far too old for the Republicans.

Well we weren't going to tell you like this but now you mention it...

It took you longer to write that than it did for him to propose so clearly your time isn't so valuable.

Meanwhile in 2024, Rep. Lauren Boebert got down on two knees…

Let me guess: did the entirety of the House of Representatives applaud the pair once Rep. Susan said "Yes"?
