iirc I think they also named some of the other characters and companies/manufacturers after members of the staff as well. I wanna say I remember seeing a staff member had the last name "Briggs" but I don't totally remember, I might be wrong. Lastimosa Armory is a more well-known example of this though, there was a staff member with the last name Lastimosa

As far as I remember some of the guns and companies in the game were named after employees that worked in Respawn at that time🤔

Short answer it's named after him, however I believe the art department already had the design for the AT-rifle (kraber) down before he even joined the company. (dont quote me on that i dont know the timeline)
Long answer, Ryan lastimosa said in an interview that the kraber was named after erik since erik came in and made a load of new sounds (namely the sound for Titans landing) but also made the AT-rifle's firing sound.
After the team did some AT-rifle only matches on angel city several of them commented on how the gun had such a presence in the game and named it after erik because "he could fill a room and give it so much energy", just like the AT-Rifle

Ryan Lastimosa was literally the Art Director at Respawn. I love it when Devs insert cheeky easter eggs like their names into games. Especially legendary Games.

fun fact every run on the gauntlet was a respawn employee save i believe one being G.Sager who while I assume everybody knows him, if you don't he was invited for a playtest and that was the fastest time he managed to get. hes since gone on to get faster times ij unassisted runs
