We live in the absolute dumbest fucking timeline and it’s not even close. It’s beyond parody.

Just as the top AI corporations start a huge lobbying group to ensure they can buy their way past voters wants

Yup, never thought I'd see Trump bankrupt The Onion without direct involvement.

He and his family are invested in this. He's trying to put his finger on the scale.

The rise of an AI Trump

A computer from 1971 would be able to handle that easily. His vocabulary would only take up about 32 bytes.

Bezos-imposed paywall, sigh.

Dude killed my mother, and got a wallet named after him. He’s no kind Redditor.

How did USA elect this clown? He is the world's laughing stock.

u/RebelStrategist 2h ago
Because less than half the country did not bother showing up to vote (much bigger issue on its own) And it got just a few votes more than what it needed to win.

Its a scam obviously.
LLMs (large language models) are not AI and won't be AGI (artificial general intelligence). There is nothing AI to slow down.
Competition is coming up fast, slowing benefits incumbents.
IPOs need hype & puffery; "we are so awesome it could become dangerous" is hype & puffery
Cover for real uncontrollable slowing growth as IPOs look to be pushed out

⬆️ This one gets it. Plus, to add more details, by renaming it adds extra layers of manufactured derivative markets of the exact same thing. Open sourced and free models use the same math and are just as good at using computational methods as the "frontier" models. This makes the rich aholes upset because they want a monopoly, so they're trying to separate themselves by "renaming" their products. Scam indeed. Don't be fooled by the hype everyone.

Why do you say LLMs are not AI? Can you share sources that validate that? I'm not saying it's wrong, and I'd imagine that AI is more than deterministic models, but I am not an expert on the the subject.

AI is like magic, it's only AI if it's not understood.
Only sort of joking. LLMs are clearly AI, but we're getting into this weird space lately where because people know how it works there's no mystery to justify calling it "Intelligent" and a lot of people think that AI and AGI are a *lot* closer in definition than the really are.
Don't forget that we used to call simple algorithms that for example, controlled enemy pathing in games "AI", despite literally being glorified if statements.

Everything is glorified IF statements, if you define things to their most BASIC level.

Well said! Most do not understand or want to learn about the bigger picture.

Microsoft lost millions investing in OpenAI, yet everyone thinks they're too smart to be scammed.
Hey, remember NFTs? Those were fun.

"LLMs (large language models) are not AI"- Maybe learn about what something is before you just make up bullshit.
The term AI originated from the 1955 Dartmouth research conference, which stated "The study is to proceed on the basis of the conjecture that every aspect of learning or any other feature of intelligence can in principle be so precisely described that a machine can be made to simulate it. An attempt will be made to nd how to make machines use language, form abstractions and concepts, solve kinds of problems now reserved for humans, and improve themselves."-Ai and LLM's absolutely fall under this defintion of AI.

Aside from the obvious question of "why is Trump in this picture?"... Why is semi retired Mike Johnson in this group? He's been on vacation for a third of the year.

No matter how many of his sycophants he gathers together, they won't be able to scrape together even a mediocre intelligence between them.

Most Americans: naww man, we don't trust this shit.
Trump admin: full speed ahead!!!

He's gonna have to be banned from the building for it to be any sort of intelligence force
