As for electricity rates, Garman said they’ve only gone up in some states with large numbers of data centers, while they’ve gone down or at least grown more slowly in others.
I'm struggling to understand why this idiot thinks this statement is an argument supporting data centers.
He's outright admitting that, yes, states with a bunch of data centers have seen electricity rates go up.

Why exactly are government officials signing NDAs and under what authority are they? What happens if they violate the NDA as a government official?
NDAs have become a cancer.
(I get some specific needs as it can protect a small inventor but they are used as a cover for corruption in too many cases)

“If these measures are enacted, the U.S. could be writing its own losing ticket to this race, and the consequences would last generations,” Garman claimed. “As a country, we can’t afford to find ourselves in that position.”
Says the stakeholder that makes a bold assumption that it would be a good outcome. Perhaps for his company and him but for the rest of the country? That's yet to be seen. I don't believe these "jailbreaks" for a second but let's assume AGI was possible, but it destroys the infrastructure of the place that first made it. Wouldn't it be great we find out that mistake from another country rather than doing it ourselves?
Now for a more realistic situation, this strains our power grid and is already destroying our environment. We are getting the issues that I posed as a hypothetical but spread out over time and it's guaranteed to happen. Why support the debasing of our communities for the enrichment of the few that already are very well off? Makes no sense to me.

They lie about their water and energy consumption and we're supposed to believe this?
