But where does this where go? Is it just evaporating? Are they basically just cloud seeding at that point?

They're taking it from public use and gone. Why no closed cooling loops? Ah yes it's just cheaper to turn the tap on and run it over the hot stuff and throw the how water away.

Data center engineer here: It isn't cheaper to throw water away vs closed loop cooling.

You can either pay for the water once and let it cycle or keep paying.

Where does the heat go in a closed loop?

There are chillers that take the water outside and cool it with AC units essentially, then the water (which is usually glycol and water) returns to the servers

Yep, they do use a lot of power but no water
