Well yeah, CEOs in Cyberpunk are more powerful than nations. Of course it’s the future they want.

nations have been the disguise all along its been the wealthy running shit since kings and queens.

Medevil times and the French Revolution just taught them to have a puppet proxy leader and to not announce where you castle is located so the plebians can trick themselves into thinking theyre not just surfs tilling the land of the wealthy till they die.

There are dozens of private military companies (PMCs) all over the world. Famously Blackwater in the US

Blackwater has been kaput for years. Last I heard they changed their name to Academi or some such. Turns out massacring a whole bunch of innocent people for no particular reason tarnishes your image. Unless your last name rhymes with Bettinyahoo.

Who did they massacre? When did this happen?

Allegedly 17 civilians while escorting state department vehicles in Iraq. The investigation kinda went nowhere because of course it didn't. There's a whole list, just check the (blackwater) wiki page.

Why was someone’s private military going there with the United States military

22

u/LFG_Account0 19d ago

Because the US government contracted them. The bulk of the Bush admin were a bunch of Vietnam era rejects. They saw how profitable it was. 9/11 was just the perfect excuse to start another forever war and funnel money to rich people. That's the military industrial complex the Eisenhower warned about.

The US even uses private security to guard our military bases lol

You're about 40 years too late, at least.

surfs

serf (n) - A member of the lowest feudal class, legally bound to a landed estate and required to perform labor for the lord of that estate in exchange for a personal allotment of land

43

u/MyHonkyFriend 19d ago

They now call it "renter" and the "fuedal lord" is now "landlord".

We clock in 9 to 5 to have the right to have a place to sleep from 5 to 9

3

u/Flomo420 19d ago

Oh I wish I could remember the term but apparently they don't like 'landlord' anymore?

Did I dream this? Lol

Lessor: one who leases???

3

u/Flomo420 19d ago

no it was more along the lines of like how bosses and shit don't want to be called employers they want to be called 'job creators', landlords wanted something similar like 'home providers' or some sanitized benevolent sounding title

1

u/Aldryg 18d ago

Only there will be no allotment this time around.

smurf (n) - A blue dude that corrects people’s spelling with concise dictionary-style definitions

Getting the clergy out of politics was a huuuuuuge gain. It was a massive cultural shift that still underpins many secular ethical social security programs funded by the French State. Look at US… we were founded on the exact same principles but we sadly formed a permanent governing structure based on patriarchy and land estate wealth. Look where this has gotten us in 200 years.

Yeah but they generally had to be clever and at least slightly subtle about it and the new money tech bros just don't have that in them

I mean unless they aren't counting the votes, it has been a huge increase in power to be able to elect officials. I mean the powerful did not want Trump, but the deplorables did and they got it done. Twice.

Don't underestimate your vote. You're never going to get more power than your vote without becoming one of them.

You misread my comment because Im saying we elect the puppet proxy leaders who lick the boots of the wealthy kings and queens who have the real money/power.

But yeah we get to change what flavor of proxy puppet leader I prefer blue raspberry to this blood rage red we have now but theyre both just fake sugary distractions from the real decision makers lobbying and breaking laws as they see fit.

this is the plot of cyberpunk scifi books since the 70's, but the idea of a megacorp has existed in literature since the early 1900's

edit: here is the wikipedia for "megacorporation" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megacorporation

What if it has already happened?

u/osaggys 19d ago

The AI is trained on Cyberpunk.

isn't that the literal story of FF7?
