Tbilisi in November end

Hi!
I (24f) have decided to take a solo trip to Tbilisi in the latter half of November
I wanna know the dos and donts I should keep in mind and what things should I check out
I wanna see the culture but also explore the night life ( more like pubs and bars)
I’ll also be there mostly during the weekdays so I understand the nightlight won’t be the best but wanna still check out places where locals would grab a beer or two
Thank you!

Where do I find English books?

I’m an avid reader and I’ve been looking for places to buy current books in English. The ones I do find are either from 100 years ago or they’re super expensive. Where do I go to find trendy books that are also affordable?

Visiting in October

Hi !

I'm visiting Tiblisi in less than two weeks and staying for a few days, and I was wondering what clothes to pack. What is the weather like ? Will I need a scarf and a coat or light jackets would do?

One more thing, I'm eager to experience the famous the Georgian traditional folk dancing, so any tips of a specific place where they have such performances (preferably not too tourist-y) would be great and if any of you is getting married and have an extra seat for me at the venue, that would be extra great 😆I'd bring a gift !

On a serious note, any other tips of your favourite places or things to do would be appreciated since this trip is so last minute.

Tbh the Library needs more maintenance.

It's the National Library, should be an attraction of the city.

The walls are cracked, the paint is wearing off.

There are cobwebs in the corners. Needs cleaning.

Stopped and searched by police. Is this common?

I'm just at the Mother of Georgia. Police pulled up real quick and asked for my name and passport. Before I could show my passport, the cop wants to search my backpack. He says, "You have a knife?"

I'm like, "No".

He searches and finds nothing of interest.

I say, "I'll get my passport for you".

He's like, "No. Goodbye!"

I'm a 57 year old Australian. I totally look like a tourist.

Is this common?

Question regarding phone storage policy at the German Embassy in Tbilisi

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming appointment at the German Embassy in Tbilisi, and I will be going there completely alone, so I won't have anyone with me to hold my phone and belongings.

I know that embassies usually don't allow electronic devices inside. Does the German Embassy in Tbilisi have lockers or a storage area where visitors can leave their phones before entering?

If they don't, could anyone recommend a safe and reliable nearby place to leave it for a short time?

Any advice or recent experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Why do people talk during performances ?

I am not a snob.
It’s just that in every other country (many) where I’ve been to a classical music concert, people respectfully enjoy the music in total silence and concentration. This is kind of the point of going to listen to the music.

I’m here for work. After going to the cinema and some concerts, I noticed people tend to chat. Last night at the symphony orchestra was the final straw

Constant talking from every angle.
People arriving late and being allowed in.
Many ringtone interruptions. One woman even took the call.
Everyone around me is sat on their phone. One woman was trying to watch videos on a low volume.

I can’t stress this enough… Georgia is 100% an outlier. All across Europe and Asia. Only Georgia.

I’m not really looking for an explanation of the behaviour, I’m looking for a venue to avoid it. I’m here for a while.

Is there somewhere that attracts people who care more about music?
