NCAAM PJ Hairston Slams UNC For Snubbing Him From Alumni Weekend: 'We're Supposed to be Family'
Saw this a few minutes ago, it's a lot. Think his only way back into favor is to reimburse all the fans he scammed, or at least apologize instead of saying "I made amends with everyone."

Oh no, it’s the repercussions of his actions

Yeah, considering he was beloved as a Tar Heel, I feel like he would have easily been forgiven had he actually apologized to fans, instead of sweeping under the rug.

Oh let me speak on that.
The man stole money from me, my friend, and countless others from sham memorabilia listings.
He even tried asking for more money, because he quote “had to pay for a funeral.”
I have bit my tongue trying to rationalize that he was in a bad situation or whatever the hell folks have wanted to say.
But when he tried to act like HE had been wronged, it all came back.
PJ Hairston is a thief, and I am glad he wasn’t invited. Zero sympathy for him, as he clearly doesn’t give a damn about what he did

You’re not alone here. He got me too. Totally agree with your sentiments.

It was calculated and intentional.
Keep that thief away from the team

I got got too (posted my situation in another reply), really disappointing to learn this was part of a larger scam. I considered him a friend too which sucks. A thief and a fraud is right, he doesn’t deserve to be associated with UNC anymore.

Through mutual connections and Facebook, he pretended to sell UNC and Hornets merch to fans. When he never shipped, he would lie and say he hadn’t been able to get back to the gear to package and send it.
He also was asking people for money to help “pay for a funeral”
He got me for $150 as well as a friend of mine. I confirmed his identity before ever sending him money by both text and Facebook message through his profile.
He’s a sorry ass person who knew exactly what he was doing

I'm worried he becomes a problem alum, a thorn in the side of the program like Rashad McCants.

No one gives a shit about what McCants says

Can you tell me what Rashad did?

u/AJayHeel 14d ago
Rashad did plenty. He lied a lot, for one. I recall an interview where he said something like "UNC is writing me a check for $2M, and the NCAA for $5M."
He also claimed that Roy Williams sabotaged his career in the NBA. Nevermind that Roy had never gone to an NBA draft in support of a player, but he did for Rashad.
Rashad says and does whatever he thinks will paint him in the best light, and he refuses to acknowledge this it's his own attitude that's the problem.
His teammates don't get along with him, but apparently it's all their fault, not his. <rolleyes>

Chose to take the paper classes and then said UNC didn’t provide him a quality education. Led to the whole mess with fake classes. I’m glad it all came out but he acted like he wasn’t the one who chose his classes cause he didn’t want to work.

Tried to burn the school down with the fake classes scandal because he was an NBA bust.

The fake classes scandal? That was really fake? Going down a rabbit hole now. (I live outside of NC so I never hear about these things!)

It was fake as in it wasn’t what the media portrayed. Basically, there are - or at least were - classes that did not require regular classroom time. They were more like an independent study, with a lengthy paper and sometimes weekly participation in online discussion forums. Some were likely very easy and some were definitely not so easy.
Source: Graduated from UNC in 2006 and took at least two of these classes. Not an athlete - was just lazy and frequently hungover.

PJ needs to apologize for the scamming if he hasn't and reimburse those he cheated....that said I do hate the few bad relationships or poor ones like pj or rashad mccants

He was given an opportunity to play for college basketballs best program and pissed it away with his thug mentality.

u/AcceptableVisit2415 14d ago
Yeah that summer before his junior year, when he would’ve been one of the top names in CBB, was wild.

I heard he was invited a couple different ways/platforms. Probably not a personal invite as an honored guest with, idk an itinerary, but more like mass mailing to former lettermen.

Lol, this guy scams everyone and expects to be welcomed with open arms. To my knowledge, he never refunded those who he scammed, but he "made amends with himself." LOL what a joke
