What in the heck?

Rushing has been our go to all day long… Let’s throw a deep ball on fourth down with the game on the line

Our running back has 250 yards on eight carries and our 12/26 quarterback throws a deep ball to our tight end fourth and one… I just can’t understand it

To be fair that play has been big everywhere Petrino has coached. It was almost automatic at Arkansas, and he even scored a TD against Arkansas with it at Missouri State. UNC tried it against TCU and the QB missed the wide open throw by about 10 yards.

Billy Edwards was absolutely putrid in this game. Really poor. Play anyone else but he cannot be out there. Never seen something that bad

I have no doubt, Miles or Burgess can at least play that good or better.

Only way this team has any ceiling is if burgess elevates the QB play. Billy and Miles ain’t it.

Welp, theres a reason the 5th year QB has never been a starter anywhere before now

He started at Maryland

You’re right and he actually had a decent year to be honest, should’ve stayed there

They chose Malik lol

Yeeeah i think not being able to beat out Malik makes the point haha

I think it’s telling that we’re almost two years into this fiasco and we’re still searching for the reasons why we paid a historic premium for this coach. Even just a glimmer. The bar is so hilariously low and we still can’t find a satisfying win.

I expect nothing and somehow I’m still disappointed.

If this is the level competitiveness we can expect from Bill then I think we need to go back to the bargain bin and save our money.

I can’t recall a program in recent memory spending so much and getting so very little.

You can't win with peewee level QBs. Do you think a coach can single-handedly win football games with bad players? No sport works that way.

We’re all trying to find the guy in charge of recruiting and coaching…..

Ya. My bad. I didn’t realize Bill was getting paid to just look cool on the sidelines.

"He picked the wrong 20 year-old QB based on his 1-hour meetings with them in the offseason. That proves he can't coach!"

I don’t hate the call but just a terrible read by Billy

1

u/tiy24 16d ago

Eh there was no good read. He had no hole to step up and run and ever was covered.

4

u/Honest_Bench9371 16d ago

Everything was covered but he had a bit of a running lane to the left.

3

u/tiy24 16d ago

He went to that gap and the DT had good leverage on our G. That’s when he chucked it up which isn’t great but best case scenario at that point

2

u/Crow-T-Robot 16d ago

He had the entire left side, could have walked forward for a yard 🤬

1

u/tiy24 16d ago

No he had to go back around the LT to maybe get to the LOS the DT and de had b gap leverage on our ol

I saw the same thing. Edwards could have ran for a 1st down +

Bill is trying to get fired

Absolute embarrassment by the coaching and honestly one of the worst QB performances I have ever seen. Can’t believe he’s the best option.

Clean house. New AD. New football coach. Everything. Pathetic.

5

u/itchierbumworms 16d ago

The AD is new as of August 1st I believe.

New chancellor

Bubba Cunningham objected to Belicheck’s hiring iirc.

2

u/HotGrowth3530 16d ago

Before they continue to clean themselves out of the program

3

u/Panther90 16d ago

Just awful.

Why is there no game thread on this sub? Mods get your shit together. Also miles needs to start next game. Edward’s is horrifically bad. How in hell did he win a QB battle.

u/HotGrowth3530 16d ago

Screw it start the four star freshman. Make Billy walk back to Chapel Hill and think about his choices.

2

u/Cheetotesticles 16d ago

Despite the two wins earlier the offense still isn’t very good. Defense is good enough to carry them to a bowl game potentially but yeah, you’re right.

Funny how even Clemson beat writers and analysts were baffled it was delayed in the first place. If that play wouldn’t have been suspended, we prob would have closed out. Never fails against Clemson. And Clemson prob won’t end with a winning record either, so it will look worse

u/biaff33 16d ago

I might be wrong, but I think Billy only completed 4 passes in the last 3 quarters of the game. Finished 13-30. Truly one of the worst QB performances I’ve ever seen, which is incredible after last season.

When you want the glory for yourself and not the win. Tale as old as time.

Edwards does suck, this program is in purgatory. Can’t believe I was interested for 3 games

1

u/Round-Dog-5314 16d ago

Well, bye.

1

u/Crow-T-Robot 16d ago

He had all the time and space, could have walked forward for one yard. What an absolute idiot QB 🤬

1

u/TheRealRoar 16d ago

Agreed, where has the deep ball been? We shouldn't have lost today but we went stale!

1

u/UNCfan07 16d ago

I'm so sick of UNC football not being able to close out games. It just seems with whatever coach it's the same story

1

u/ForbezGato 15d ago

This was truly the biggest WTF moment/call of the game. 4th and a long one, your QB has been ineffective/bad all game, you've been rushing well (>200 yards), the wet field/conditions, and THIS is the best play call you can come up with???

0

u/interstat 16d ago

They can not get a good qb here to save their lives

1

u/HotGrowth3530 16d ago

Between the baseball team this year… And this football team… We better be rock solid in basketball

2

u/pjfitzgerald 16d ago

If you're complaining about the baseball team, you will never be satisfied.

0

u/larosiaddw 16d ago

That was suboptimal

-3

u/HotGrowth3530 16d ago

Gio would not have done that

3

u/Hot_Swordfish_6450 16d ago

Yeah right
