Signal Veil is a classic third-person survival horror game with a strong focus on psychological terror, emotional storytelling, and a 90s anime-inspired aesthetic.

For October I would like to recommend a few survival horror games and be recommend some.
Im a big fan of survival horror games and have noticed a big resurgence especially in the indie scene. A few I have played recently I cant help but recommend in no particular order.
- Echoes of the living. (The game is in early access and only has access to half of the story the male characters. What is available so far is a great survival horror in the vein of resident evil 3.)
- Flesh made fear.
- Tormented Souls and Tormented souls 2
4.Crow country
alisa
them and us
heaven dust 2
obscure 1 and 2
Signals
Daymare 1994 and sandcastle
honorable mentions:
Total Chaos
Chronos
My friendly neighborhood
The sinking city
any other recommendations are truly appreciated

DPD - Darkwood alike horror/fps game about hunting down infected in the city.
You're just a policeman reassigned to a new department, but it will be only the start. You have to be much more bigger than that to sustain what is happening in this city..
The game is about hunting the infected. The game will feature a wide variety of mutations, so you’ll keep encountering new types of infected that won’t be easy to hunt. But as you can see from the trailer, it’s not immediately clear who’s hunting whom 😆
The horror element is strong in this one, but it will be mix of top-down fps shooter/horror/city life simulator (yes you will have a flat, police department workspace and have to move physically to react on police call) and much more.
So is it worth on the first look guys? Any response is important to me!

Silent Hill Town - The most boring video game ever
90% of the environment isn’t interactive. Of the 10% that is, 90% is empty, and the remaining 9% is just the same loot on repeat: medkit, gauze, alcohol, ammo. Riveting stuff.

Alien Isolation vs Resident Evil 7
Both fps survival horror games both have persistent immortal enemies you must either run or hide from both use item management back tracking and item conservation, but which one did it better?? For my money its alien isolation its a game that ive loved for over ten years and still terrifies me to this day, and unlike resident evil the Xeno for some reason didnt annoy me like the Baker family did (or hell even mr X) and in my opinion i feel it did the survival horror parts better, I mean shiiiiiiit by the end of any resident evil as long as your not mowing everything down your usually stacked on everything by the end, but in alien? Every resource you use hurts and i love it for that!! but ill say I prefer the anesthetic and vibes of Resi 7 (dont get me wrong Alien is one of the MOST unique Sci-fi settings and one my personal favorite ones too!) But I love a good rotten decrepit mansion which one do you guys think did it better?

How does our inventory UI look? Is fit for survival horror?
We’re working on the inventory UI for our co-op psychological horror game, The Infected Soul, and I’d love to hear what you think.
One of the main mechanics in the game is body swapping.
Every character has a neural chip, and these brain chips play a key role in transferring your consciousness into different bodies. You can take a chip, interact with compatible bodies, and switch into them to use their different abilities.
The inventory UI also needs to communicate this mechanic clearly without becoming too confusing or cluttered.
So, what would you change?
Does the layout feel readable? Are the item slots and chip system clear enough? Is there anything that feels unnecessary or out of place for a sci-fi co-op horror game?
Feel free to be critical feedback really helps us.
If the game looks interesting, The Infected Soul is on Steam, and adding it to your wishlist helps our small team a lot.

Is The Evil Within survival horror?
The Evil Within (2014)
I have to make this clear from the start: The Evil Within is a difficult game, and AKUMU mode is insanely difficult. However, being a difficult horror game does not automatically make it survival horror. In fact, combat and boss fights are not particularly difficult in many survival horror games because they are not the main focus. The Evil Within has far fewer resources than Resident Evil 4 or Dead Space, but a single survival horror trait is not enough to place a game within the genre.
The game begins like an interactive movie, with you walking or running forwards through a scripted chase. It then becomes stalker horror, introducing lockers as a hiding mechanic that is never useful again. The next chapter plays more like a stealth game, requiring you to stealth-kill enemies or distract them with bottles. This is followed by many sequences that I would classify as action horror.
The action horror sections require you to kill every enemy, protect another character or survive waves of combat before progressing. These include killing the Sadist for the chainsaw needed to open the village gate, protecting Joseph while freeing Kidman from the water tank, surviving the burning house while Joseph opens the exits, disabling the four arrow-launcher turrets in the tower courtyard, and fighting through the construction site and gondola ride.
These sections are very linear and use levels designed like combat arenas, where traditional survival horror puzzles are almost non-existent. During the water-tank section, the control panel resembles a combination puzzle, but Joseph simply tells you which numbers to enter. In a survival horror game, you would find clues and work out the code. The developers could have made these puzzles more involved but chose not to slow the pace. Instead, they serve as short breaks before the next action sequence.
I have heard many people say that The Evil Within becomes survival horror on harder difficulties, but those settings require you to get better at combat. Progress depends on precision aiming, hand-eye coordination and knowing the most efficient ways to kill enemies, such as burning several with one match. Rather than using bottles to distract enemies and sneak past, you throw them into an enemy’s face to stun them and set up a kill to save ammo.
The irony is that the harder the game becomes, the more it focuses on action. It feels like the game is trying to be two things at once: it barely gives you enough ammo, yet requires you to kill enemies to progress. Survival horror games solve this problem by allowing you to avoid combat when ammo runs out.
In Resident Evil (1996), running out of bullets was the game telling you that combat was not always the answer. In The Evil Within, even on AKUMU difficulty, mandatory encounters force you to master its combat because every enemy must be killed. Enemy avoidance is not practical when every enemy must be killed before you can progress.
This makes the beds and lockers scattered throughout the game feel almost pointless. What good is hiding under a bed when so many encounters eventually force you to come out and kill everyone? In a game that rewards combat and repeatedly requires it, the hiding mechanic feels like an afterthought.
