Character Related First time watching, I hate S4 Louis

I know how the series ends and that he’ll come around, my sister’s a walking spoiler machine and I’ve watched the last few episodes of the show with her years ago.

But damn, watching Louis in season 4 is exhausting. I actually liked him a lot from the beginning and understood where he was coming from most of the time. But his behavior after finding out about Mike and using it as leverage to become name partner is ruining his whole character for me.

I hated Louis for most of the series. Yes he does get better, but he never really stopped throwing temper tantrums and treating people like shit. It just lessened as the series progressed. Imagine working under someone like that.

The actor behind Louis was great though. Mission accomplished with his role.

Definitely, the actor Rick Hoffman is amazing!

He's incredibly bitter in those moments. He lost everything he ever wanted and he ever believed in. His friends, his values, his passion. His life was tainted and he felt even less worth to his presumed peers than he ever did before. He became undone.

I mean that was the transition phase to a more mature character, like during the hardman trial in S2

Exactly. Plus, even ig Louis goes overboard with his anger in this season, it doesn't come from nowhere.

Louis is one of my favorite characters of all time. Especially how he‘s being acted. In that season, especially that one episode, I‘m actually afraid of Louis. It feels more real than any other villain. Pulling that off with a character that has scenes like the salute one or licking wood is exceptional.

I get why people find s4 Louis annoying but to be fair most people would feel a bit betrayed and angry in Louis's situation, and using it as leverage is also probably what most people would've done. For once he had the upper hand, he knew it and took advantage of it

What's wrong with that? Jessica favored Harvey, Louis had to do what he had to do

She favoured him for a reason. Louis had to blackmail them to become name partner, and they did not treate him as such even after, exactly because of that.

Lol, he had to blackmail them into being fair. His billables destroyed Harvey's, but Jessica wanted her lapdog at the table and so promoted him for lying to and bullying a client. When he figured it out she withdrew Harvey's promotion and Harvey blackmailed her into giving it back. Speaking of, do you recall how Harvey made junior partner? ALSO blackmail.  He got named partner once again because Jessica wanted to buy him back from what she thought was a teamup with darvey.

Harvey has pretty privilege.

He’s a work in progress. He evolves into a character I adore.

I don't know, I really enjoyed his character for that storyline. Like yeah, he's annoying and bitter from what I can remember but it was very entertaining to watch. Louis finally got what he wanted, but not even in the right way. Also Rick Hoffman acted his ass off in that storyline
