Ai is already tightly associated with not just trump but fascism in general, the people pushing for Ai the hardest are all warmongers, mass surveillance proponents, anti intellectuals, anti art and anti human freaks, most of these things being fascistic ideals. Youâd need a mainstream Ai that shows real tangible benefits for most people that donât hinge on depriving others of jobs for it not to be associated with right wing ideology.

Try to separate art from artist (or whatever the negative version of that saying would be). I do think the federal government needs a team focused just on AI and its uses in cyber warfare, protecting individuals and companies from attacks and scams, and ideally determining appropriate federal policy.
The right way to do this is to make a department via statute and working with a team from DARPA. But Republicans can't pass anything despite complete control of government so this is probably the next best thing.
Not trying to let them off the hook but doing this is better than the most important decisions in AI being made by Pete Hegseth or something.

Itâs an interesting name switch for sure. Artificial is ontological. Super is comparative. One term tells you where the intelligence came from, the other tells you how capable it is relative to other intelligences. I think itâs risky to jump from identity to rank like that. It feels rushed, almost like changing the bedrock of the terminology.
A cleaner route would be machine intelligence. Then superintelligence remains a level of machine intelligence. Calling the entire field âSuper Intelligenceâ is like deciding that all aircraft from now on are âsupersonic aviation.â Youâre using a capability level as the name of the category itself. Words matter lol.

Another thing worth pointing out: Air Force = force for the air domain. Space Force = force for the space domain. Super Intelligence Force doesn't fit.
Itâs also described as a federal task force, not a new military service like the Air Force or Space Force. Using "force" feels sloppy (IS sloppy actually). It makes you wonder how much these things are actually thought through lol. Do they just Google the name, make sure the domain and @ accounts are available, and call it good?
EDIT: I would have gone with something like Machine Intelligence Corps. Corps means an organized body of people with a common function, but still clearly refers to military.

This reminds me of the general in the Donpachi series.
In the second game, Dodonpachi, you're sent out as an ace fighter pilot taking down 'mechanized aliens'. If you happen to be good enough to reach and beat the second loop or the true last boss, it's revealed there were no aliens, it was just your own guys, the fleet that had gone 'missing', that you were taking out.
