Wish there weren't so many cuts to this video...would love to see how many of these he's hitting in a row and in rhythm (seen a few unedited 3-point shooting vids in practice with other players...gives a better sense of progress than this one does)

I've seen enough, hang the banner

This is the comment I wanted to see, along with the one about him not being 68 years old, thank you. Dudes are really in here trying to tell me he isn't actually as good of a shooter as Klay, and the video was clearly edited to make him look better than he is lmao.

He’s not as good as Klay wtf are you even talking about bro. He’s BETTER, how dare you tarnish the name of our 💯% deadeye shooter Amen. Klay “poor mans amen” Thompson wish he could.

You're right, turns out I was trippin. He only took 7 shots in this workout and made all of them. The Rockets staff wants him to take and make 7 threes per game, and as he said on media day, his goal for the season is to make every shot. They only cut the footage to condense it for social media.

Ya'll need to go to a game and watch teams warm up. Guys like Nick Richards are draining 3s.

7

u/EyecalledGame 6d ago

I remember being at a magic vs the Celtics game in Orlando and Bill Walker was in warmups hitting every shot he put up. I don’t think he even got into the game

4

u/Icy_Information_6563 6d ago

Ya these dudes are insanely good to the point where it's beyond comprehension.

u/Dependent-Cup6650 6d ago

I love amen and clearly he’s still workshopping his shot, but that’s release is slow as molasses and people think he’s gonna be shredding close outs after 1 month and a half of shooting coaching

19

u/PhilipKNick 6d ago

i think just being enough of a threat to CAUSE a close out at all is a good first step

3

u/trybeingcurious 6d ago

Dude’s been playing ball for 15 years. Any day now all of that workshopping will pay off.

7

u/duncanidaho4891 6d ago

The realistic goal is still mid range jumper this season.

-6

u/scullytaco 6d ago

That isn't realistic either. He was one of the worst midrange shooters in the league last year.

7

u/duncanidaho4891 6d ago

It's not realistic to expect improvement on the midrange jumper this year?

It's improvement not elite.

-4

u/scullytaco 6d ago

You didn't say improvement, you just said "mid range jumper"

u/Dazzling_End8412 5d ago

he shows up to the function pedantic as hell for no clear reason

5

u/j1h15233 Rockets 6d ago

Ben Simmons used to have videos like this too. Show me in game action or it doesn’t matter

21

u/Far-Clerk-1029 6d ago

I know he’s 68 but that release point is so low. It have to be corner threes only.

30

u/3LitersofJokicCola 6d ago

We're at the point where they dare him to shoot with 10 feet of space. He won't have to worry lmao.

13

u/shadracko 6d ago

Yeah, getting shots off is the least of his worries.

3

u/Dependent-Cup6650 6d ago

And it’s a very slow release. I know they’re probably just working on form. But I hope it’s not this slow for real.

3

u/Msmit256 6d ago

The speed of his release doesnt matter right now. Teams are starting to treat him like ben simmons and arent even closing out within 10 ft.

His first step is to be respectable (> 30%) at relatively open 3s because that is what he will be getting until he proves that defendera actually need to close out on him.

1

u/Hakeem_TheDream 6d ago

Looks as slow as my release and I haven't played organized basketball since middle school lol

3

u/CJ4ROCKET 6d ago

Actually he's only 23

1

u/yooston 2d ago

This sub has way too high of expectations. Yall expecting him to turn into Kobe? His career completely changes if he can just hit 35% on wide open threes, who cares if the release is slow

4

u/Correct-Pension1208 6d ago

Keep cooking goat 🚀

5

u/RoleEarly3432 6d ago

Last off season he looked like he improved hod shooting form but reverted back to the old form during the season. With that being said, this is the best I’ve seen from him. Hopefully he sticks with it

3

u/EaglesInTheSky 6d ago

If Amen can shoot 35% from 3 we’re going be having championship parades again one day soon! Go Rockets 🚀

3

u/ProfessionalSand7990 6d ago

Slow release. Likely won’t matter since he’ll have all day to shoot.

If he can become respectable at wide open 3s it’ll be a major win ( still extremely unlikely.) maybe in year 10+ he can be like Jason Kidd lol (yet another pipe dream)

1

u/jdhmmmm 5d ago

Exactly what I thought - very slow release.

-1

u/CainePro 6d ago

The x2 hall of famer? Jason Kidd, a pipe dream lmao

2

u/ProfessionalSand7990 6d ago

Yeah hence why I said yet another pipe dream lol.

Mostly reference how he wasn’t known as a great shooter but late career became a rock solid one.

3

u/BenchPtsChamp 6d ago

I love the preseason when we’re undefeated and convinced we will win the chip

5

u/BlackheadOnetone 6d ago

If he was Klay the video wouldnt be edited.

-2

u/NamiRocket 6d ago

Doesn't matter that it's edited. I bet you could hit these shots in that kind of an environment. This ain't indicative of how he'll shoot in a game and doesn't matter.

0

u/BlackheadOnetone 6d ago

What environment? Practice? Bro I like Amen, he just got paid. I know he he's a legit Dog. You can look up videos of klay making 50 or more threes without missing and they wont cut it up

1

u/NamiRocket 6d ago edited 6d ago

Yes. Practice. You get it? In a non-game environment.

I'm saying who cares if it's edited in practice. He's probably making most of his shots and it doesn't matter, because it's only practice. Chances are he's missing a lot of those same shots in an actual game with an actual defender.

2

u/BlackheadOnetone 6d ago

Yeah but most of us in our 30s and under know how to edit . So, you can agree if you were fluently repping something on camera you wouldnt take out your good reps. You'd take out the bad. Im not even tryna go at him hes just not Amen "Klay " Thompson. Its safe to say if you see a video cut, then the next shot wasn't made.

1

u/BlackheadOnetone 6d ago

I dont wanna beef with you Nami! Amen really one of them ones.

-1

u/Haunting_Wheel_2209 6d ago

You're right, it's not indicative. In the video he hit 100%, but in game he'll hit 23%.

1

u/NamiRocket 6d ago

You understand that's what I'm saying, correct?

-1

u/Haunting_Wheel_2209 6d ago

But you're wrong because he's going to shoot poorly in game while the video made it look like he can shoot well.

2

u/ThenConstruction3862 5d ago

Hitting threes is a dream . Just give me a good mid-range jumper.

2

u/LordJxnkulous 5d ago

Still looks broken

2

u/HiddenAnubisOwl 6d ago

Last year he was hitting 3s as well in the preseason games, this time I won't delude myself

2

u/chonox 5d ago

To be fair it’s alot easier to hit shots when you don’t have to play make as well. Our offense last year was everyone iso and try and score 1v5, unsurprisingly only KD wasn’t completely ass.

1

u/HiddenAnubisOwl 5d ago

Absolutely tue

4

u/rustyhwe 6d ago

Idk. The shot still looks awful, im not sure how usable somehting that slow and low is. It looks more fluid than it did last year, but... it hurts my eyes to see it.

2

u/comeonbjxgo 6d ago

Yeah this video made me sad. He has to shoot this in a live situation and it will be clankety clank

3

u/Stevetheking69 6d ago

Don’t watch🤷🏻‍♂️

3

u/frankiepaco 6d ago

Fan of doom and despair

0

u/AtxSaiyan 6d ago

See what happens when he doesn’t have to pass to KD as soon as he crosses half court

1

u/SpaceCadetPullUp 6d ago

Ew. Don't compare him to that douche.

1

u/Advanced_Olive_1830 6d ago

Look easy for him in practice bc he's wide open and calm but in a real game, he will struggle.

1

u/Realistic-Leg-3846 6d ago

one basket, then an edit.

1

u/BreadRocket 6d ago

Form definitely looks better. His lower and upper body are much more connected now. He jumps mostly straight up, much more controlled. His release point still looks inconsistent, sometimes going "up" too much and not "out" enough. First three shots looked smooth though.

1

u/Ill_Discussion5840 5d ago

getting more arc in his shot it seems

1

u/Rogerdattt007 3d ago

I see a young man working on his game, love it!!!

1

u/BulkyAbrocoma 2d ago

just remember , i have seen Adams in practice shooting 3's and he never misses .

1

u/ya_animeboi 1d ago

I’ll believe it when I see it in game

-3

u/purpletux 6d ago

Oh look another edit of perfect shoots during practice! How exciting!

17

u/sammymate999 Capela 6d ago

yeah how dare someone be positive in this sub

6

u/free_reezy Fuck the Mavs 6d ago

Oh look another annoying skeptic

4

u/get-blessed 6d ago

That is exciting if you’re a fan of Amen thompson and the Rockets. Are you stupid or just dumb?

6

u/dafdiego777 6d ago

of course its meaningless unless he starts to do it in game but it must be sad being this jaded

-1

u/purpletux 6d ago

It’s called being fed up with meaningless edits.

1

u/Haunting_Wheel_2209 6d ago

GIVE US THE SNYDER CUT

1

u/purpletux 6d ago

I’ll see you all positive butterflies when the shit get serious!

2

u/sammymate999 Capela 6d ago

You have a shit attitude quite frankly boss

-1

u/EveningHealth9465 6d ago

Lmao yall are so delusional. There’s clips of Mitchell Robinson hitting consistent step back 3s in pickup gym runs. Also clips of Rudy Gobert hitting tons of threes in a row in practice. Enjoy the 29-30 percent from three this season

3

u/scullytaco 6d ago

30% would be insane growth

All you can do is put in the work, if KD isn't tweeting. Amen and the rest are doing good

-1

u/Greedy_Gas7355 6d ago

He did this last offseason

u/nigevellie 6d ago

Cringe
