Troubleshooting Help. Printer printing symbols
Please help. Why is my Epson wf-382 series printing this every time I try to print any document?

Dear all,
I work in the printer industry. For a very well-known consumer products manufacturer that gets discussed on this sub a lot. I will not disclose which manufacturer I work for, nor will I disclose any manufacturer I do not work for (since the industry is relatively small eliminating 1 or 2 will make it generally too obvious as to which I do work for) as I am not officially speaking on behalf of the company. But, I want to set the record straight on subscription programs because some of you are drastically misinformed and it is very frustrating to see as someone who understands these programs as well as basic logic.
There are two types of subscription programs. Each of the major consumer manufacturers offers at least 1 of these programs, some offer both.
The first type of program is an auto-reordering program. The printer can tell (via various ways depending on each manufacturer) when the ink / toner is low and when it hits a certain point that will trigger an order of the ink/toner that device uses. Most manufactures that offer this will first send you an email letting you know that an order has been triggered and it will allow you to skip the delivery of the consumable and thus not get charged. If you allow the order to go through you are purchasing that consumable. That consumable is yours, you own it, just as if you walked into a Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, or bought it on Amazon… You can cancel the “subscription” the next day and continue to use that consumable until it is empty.
The second type of program is a true subscription program. **THIS** is what many of you are vastly misinformed and / or are irrational about. In this program *you are not purchasing a consumable* at all. You are paying the manufacturer for X number of pages per month. The manufacturer will send you a consumable to use because the printer needs ink / toner to work but, that is not what you are paying for. You are paying the manufacturer $Y per month to print up to X pages per month.. that’s it. Of course you can print over that X number and pay an overage (just like years ago with cell phones).. and of course, you can print under that X number and some pages will roll-over to future months (just like years ago with cell phones). The owner of the consumable is the manufacturer. You never bought it, you never owned it. Therefore, it is not yours to use after you end the subscription! The only reason most manufactures do not ask for it back is because they don’t want to pay for shipping it back to them. But, they still own it… not you. You can think of this like renting an apartment. You are paying a landlord $X per month to live in their building. The landlord is providing the building for you to live in while you are paying rent. You do not own the building. and when you stop paying rent you are no longer allowed to continue living in the building. Just like your Netflix subscription, Apple TV subscription and Disney+ subscription.. when you stop paying for the subscription, you stop getting to use the service. Just because while you were paying you had access to the content does not mean you at any time owned that content and get to continue watching it once you stop paying the subscription.
I truly hope this helps clarify somethings for some of you. Others I understand are lost causes but, I will do my best to answer any questions I can.

Here for the periodic ask about portable printers.
Signed a contract and I’m required to have a printer when I mediate disputes. Can’t be thermal paper because it’s legal documents that need to be printed. I can't always connect to on-site printers (eg. government offices), so I need to buy something to bring along.
Someone in a much older thread suggested the small brother compact laser printers and if I can find a cart that holds it, then that’s great. But if there’s other options that you’ve come across I’d love to hear them.
Some considerations:
I know this is going to cost me a bunch so I want to make the right choice.
Thanks for any information you might have!

Hi,
I’m about to purchase an XYZprinting Da Vinci Color Mini 3D printer. It’s a really weird design, depositing inkjet ink on printed plastic layer by layer. The company that made it went out of business 3 years ago, so owners are on their own when it comes to replacement consumables.
The non-mini version used slightly modified HP 45 type single color cartridges. The mini uses the fully integrated cartridge type you see in the pictures. I really can’t believe that they would have developed a whole new cartridge for the printer, they surely used some kind of standard OEM design. But which one? I can’t seem to find any cartridges with the same outer construction and, more importantly, the same pin layout on the web.

I don't know if there is a cheaper budget friendly printer for tagging my laundry shop cloths. It needs to be water proof. Currently ma using a waterproof ink to write in manually. Can you advise.

So I found an HP 5530 on my family's property. Technically new in box from whenever it was released, but... very, VERY exposed to the elements. I know I should just buy a new printer, but I'm broke and I've got time on my hands. The dirt you see on the photocopier part of this printer isn't on the glass, but underneath it. On the second photo is where you can lift up the bay of that part of the printer, but it's plastic underneath so I presume I need to unscrew the screws you can see to get in there. Never really messed with printers, so I would appreciate any advice (other than buy a new one, that is, I know I should) on how to try and clean this thing down from the inside. Thanks.

HP Third Party Toner Issues: Workaround?
I have an HP 3301cdw using 218A/218X toner. With firmware updates blocking third party cartridges, what is actually working now?
Are the Amazon cartridges with updated/latest chips reliable, or is it better to buy chipless toner and transfer the original HP chips?
For anyone who did the DIY chip transfer: how difficult was it, did it actually work, and does the printer just show low/empty toner afterward?
Has either method survived later firmware updates?
Not asking about Instant Ink. Just trying to avoid $500+ for genuine HP toner if there's a reliable solution.

Hello all,
I have recently purchased a used Epson Stylus Pro 3880, and now that I've finally secured some ink cartridges for it, I did a manual nozzle check test print, and accidentally caused a paper jam by not moving the left edge guide to match the width of my paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder. I had loaded 6 pieces of standard letter sized printer paper, and all 6 were jamming the printer feed. I turned off the printer and gently removed the paper from the output tray. They came out with very little trouble, but this white gear in the image came out on top of the stack of papers. I did notice that some of the sheets kicked out in a way where the lower corner closest to where the left edge guide should have been kicked further towards where the left edge guide was. I have no idea where it came from or where to put it back.
After this happened, I tried turning off the printer, and doing the test print properly. Now each time I try, the paper comes fully out with no attempt to print, and I get a message that says PAPER ERROR LOAD PAPER. This leads me to believe that it has something to do with a sensor. If anyone can point me to where I need to replace this, I'm happy to do whatever disassembly I need to or add whatever photos you need to help identify where it goes.

I'm looking for a simple to use laser printer. Plug in usb cable, install default drivers ant it works. Preferably win10, linux and mac compatible. ( I know, printers never work, but lets pretend)
Posibility to have 2 sides printing.
Variety of paper thickness (normal and sticker paper).
BW as it would probably be fraction of cost.
Preferably smaller size.
Ethernet cable capable is nice, but not necessary. Wifi no needed. No accounts, nothing. USB printing would be nice.
I head good words about Brother, but later I heard mixed experience.

So I just upgraded from an HP OfficeJet 5258 which is about 5-6 years old. Never had any issues and it’s lasted quite a while but the ink cartridge prices are piling up especially with printing color as much as I do. I purchased an epson eco tank 3943 after some research (home use and craft use) and I’m a bit disappointed. I set it up today and printed a couple of things with “best quality” “plain paper” on both printers, and it looks like my old HP is outdoing the Epson. You can notice the images are clearer and brighter on the HP. Any suggestions? (Clearer print is HP and less quality print is the new epson)

I'm considering getting an HP Sprocket 3x4, mainly for printing photos from trips, concerts, and other memories.
I already own a Sprocket 2x3, but my experience with it has been pretty mixed. The convenience and size are great, but I've had some frustrations with the print quality and overall consistency, so I'm wondering if the 3x4 is actually a worthwhile upgrade or if I'm just buying into the same experience with bigger prints.

Hi all! I’m a first year college student wanting to buy my first printer. I don’t print color much and I print super often at school but beed a printer for when I forget to print something or need it on the weekends. I’m looking got something affordable around $100 lower than $200 for sure. I might think about getting just a black and white one because if I needed color I could just print it at school or the public library. Looking to buy from amazon. Thank you in advance!

I will never buy another brother laser printer again.
I have a L2540dw, and it has the unfixable "receiving data" bug.
google search shows that this is a widespread defect across many brother models that appears randomly later on during ownership, like a ticking time bomb.
makes me have class-action lawsuit vibes, but we all know only lawyers win.
I barely got though 1 toner cartridge in the time i've owned it, before getting the 'receiving data' bug.
Is there any laser printer that is reliable and has decent quality generic toner?

Hi - have recently upgraded laptops from a previous gen surface laptop to a current one. Issue I now have is the new one has a snapdragon ARM processor and my brother ql-810w label maker has no driver for ARM based machines (Which I found out after buying it). I've tried using the phone app and it is super fiddly and the current label maker is great - I don't want to shell out for another one. I haven't been able to find a windows generic driver that works - looking for any wisdom / someone who's made this work. I've e-mailed brother support - not expecting that to bear fruit. Thanks.

I tried deep cleaning multiple times and nozzle check and ink flush and still getting line and desaturated colors.

I need to buy a new home printer. Mostly for my kids to print homework assignments - which will usually be a mix of text and images. Photo quality for images isn't essential but we want the images to look good. Print speed is a non-factor but double sided printing is essential.
I'd like a scanner for those occasional times they're useful.
The printer will be used infrequently. I imagine we’ll print around 100 pages per year. But we need it to work when we need to use it. So I'm looking at colour laser. I've read enough unflattering stuff about HP, so I'm tied between Brother and Canon.
Ideally in the £250-£300 range (so around $350).
Any guidance would be appreciated!

I just now finished setting up the printer and printed my first image, and the image had these really wet ink lines on the sides. Is this normal?

Looking at the Canon G3270/3272 Printer and the Epson ET-3943.
My main key factors are printing on Custom Sizes as small as a Gift Card Envelope 2¾"x4" and #1 Coin Envelopes 2¼"x3½". Quality and Reliability and Possibility Machine Size.
I welcome all thoughts and helpful experiences.

Thanks in advance. My Brother HL-L3290CDW is displaying a “Jam Rear” error message. There was a jam, but I cleared out all the paper. I’ve triple checked the roller in the back for tiny scraps but can’t find any. I figure it could be a sensor issue but I can’t figure out how to tell or what to do if that is the case. Any advice?

Hi!
I'm looking to print on a receipt printer an art school project. I have seen people making websites open to everyone to send something to print, but can I do it but only for my own use?
Is it complicated?
Any model recommandations?
Im currently looking at a Star TSP100 BT, a POS80 or a Espon M267A
(The receipt printer is important to the installation)
Thank you :)

anyone know why my printer might be printing color stuff like this? the top of the page is what it should look like. got the printer from my grandma and she said the cartridges were new. not the biggest deal if the color doesn't work, just thought i'd see if there's an easy fix
note: already tried the "clean printhead" and "clean smear" stuff
