Today marks the anniversary of the death of the Pole thanks to whom Morskie Oko and the Tatra Mountains belong to Poland.

Post image

Ruler of the Tatras. A great patriot. An incredibly humble man who traveled exclusively by third-class rail. He saved the Tatras from destruction. He built railways, waterworks, and power plants, and planted forests. He spared no expense for charitable causes.

He acquired the Zakopane estates at auction for 460,002 Rhenish guilders and 3 cents, outbidding Józef Goldfinger by a single cent. He staked everything on one gamble and won the "trial of the century" for Poland. He secured an international court ruling confirming that Morskie Oko belonged to Galicia—a decision that later placed it within the borders of independent Poland, which were established based on the boundary between Galicia and the Kingdom of Hungary.

He endured years of lawsuits, threats, and ridicule. He saved our most sacred mountains, then bequeathed his vast fortune to Poland.

Before his death in 1924, he signed the deed establishing the "Zakłady Kórnickie" Foundation, transferring his entire immense fortune to the Polish nation.

This donation included Kórnik Castle and its priceless Kórnik Library, the Zakopane estates (including the Tatra forests), numerous properties, and art collections.

The Tatra lands he donated later became the foundation for the creation of the Tatra National Park. In accordance with the Count's wishes, this estate was to serve Polish science and education.

He died owning almost nothing. One of the most underrated heroes of our history. On October 3, 1924, Count Władysław Zamoyski fell asleep in the Lord

But this way you did read it and know a good piece of history. Smart move imo ;)

I skipped through it until I found the name, and refused to read it afterwards. I really hate cheap tricks and AI slop like this

How much ya bench?

How much do I bench press? What does it matter? You can lift tons, but if you don't give a damn about history, you're a tough Slav. Unless, of course, Slavs are famous for working out in the gym, then that's a different story. But that's probably not the case. The gym is a feature of most current cultures, and not even the most important one.

I'd read anyway - love finding out about great, but not really famous people, especially Poles

My first thought as well, everything about the image makes it look AI generated. Turns out it's a heavily processed version of the original photo.

A better question is about the text, which also appears to be AI generated.

Name wasn't changed tho?

15

u/MadBoring 1d ago

it only changed if you listen to the Trump Dawg

-36

u/ruun666 1d ago

It was changed. U.S. government officially renamed the term "AI" to "Super Intelligence" (SI) through an executive order. Get your facts straight and don't spread misinformation. Please.

Dafuq does US government have to do with how anyone calls it? The concept of AI is not their property, and their opinions isn't of any value in this matter.

Dafaq is very old n corny expression. But you can find it at the bottom of the page if you are still looking for help and already answered questions.

That's kind of delusional considering the name in use is already widespread and a dominant conversation topic, but you're absolutely entitled to holding the belief. It's just you will be ridiculed for it. I hope you're aware Trump is extremely divisive and frankly unpopular outside certain cult-like societies.

Cool guy, I visited Kuźnice, part of his property South from Zakopane encompassed by National Park, it is a good start to visit mountains and it also an open roof museum, next to a very great looking part of the river.

Said who exactly? I'm sorry but territorial claims in modern Europe are the stupidest shit ever. Like I could easily say, that the whole of Ukraine and Belarus are occupied Polish territory, but what's the point? Do we want to go to war for it?

14

u/oGsMustachio 1d ago

The smartest thing Poland ever did was walk away from its old territorial claims.

7

u/Czart 1d ago

Genuinely. We don't really need more land, and especially land inhabited by people who don't want to be part of Poland.

7

u/Character4315 1d ago

Do we want to go to war for it?

I'm just gonna say: we are not Russia.

Well the thing with Belarus and Ukraine goes back to 1945 as they've been separated from Poland after the war. Again, do you want to go to war for it? I'm not asking if we could win, we would surely win with Slovakia, Ukraine on the other hand? If they weren't fighting on the opposite front at the moment, they would fucking mop the floor with us lol. Their army is like 4x bigger than ours and they have combat experience which basically no polish soldier has
