Yeah the lack of ear protection is concerning.

Once or twice maybe ok, not repeated, and it would be awesome if they repeat it :) I can’t imagine having a dad like that

Average decibel level of just a drum set is around 119 decibels according to multiple sources.

That is equivalent to a chainsaw or nearby jet engine.

Here is OSHA's breakdown of the maximum allowable unprotected listening time for each decibel range.

85 dB: 8 hours 88 dB: 4 hours 91 dB: 2 hours 94 dB: 1 hour 97 dB: 30 minutes 100 dB: 15 minutes 103 dB: 7.5 minutes 106 dB: Less than 4 minutes 109 dB: Less than 2 minutes 112 dB: Less than 1 minute 115 dB: Less than 30 seconds

Permanent hearing damage can occur within just a few minutes of +115 dB exposure, and it's worse for kids.

Cans were necessary here.

Maybe they can bond over their tinnitus.

Why are you not protecting his ears?

Agree. I’m an audiologist, please protect his (and your!) hearing.

The joys of getting tinnitus as a toddler

I have tinnitus and it can honestly be the worst hell on earth sometimes. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

The kids are cool but I’m really upvoting for the C&Cs.Ā

Woah you're the drummer in Challenger Deep! I love your music!

Oh wow small world thank you! This is my other band Better Bloom in the photo šŸ™‚ Challenger has a show at Star Bar coming up btw!

Nice, I'll check it out. I saw Challenger in Philly last year. Jason told me you couldn't make the tour that time, but the show was still great. Hope to see more of you guys in the future. I've been spinning and sharing to Point of No Return with my friends a lot, especially the tasty drum grooves!

My daughter, when she was little, would grab my left leg (hi-hat for me) and hang on.

Her older brother would take off his clothes and jump around yelling "Shake yer booty, shake yer booty." Inside our house not in public.

Concerned for the ears tbh.

He may have sat on your lap, but he carried your set on his back!

Gnarly little dude.

Aww, sweet. The banner ā€œless alone festā€ makes this even more wholesome

So cute. It's the perfect sort of thing for that sub and will bring a smile to lots of folks.

What an awesome moment he’ll remember for the rest of his life.

Ya blah blah his ears. Can you people not just enjoy the moment of a dad and his son w/o having to ruin it. John Bonham’s son Jason used to hit the skins at Zeppelin house parties. Y’all should send him DMs and ask him how his ears are.

Would be better with ear protection.
