Inconsistency One Ui 7 design is Samsungs worst one YET

Look, man, with One UI 7 finally hitting the final stretch, every time I see a setup screen, I just gotta shake my head. It looks rough, you know? Like, Samsung's been cooking this up for what feels like ages, and you're telling me they couldn't nail down the basics of consistent spacing throughout the UI? Seriously? We're talking about a massive company here, and for some reason, they can't get these little design details right. It's honestly a bummer. The overall vibe of One UI 7 is actually pretty sweet and clean, a nice step up from their older look, but damn, if they just took a second to sweat the small stuff and make the UI feel consistent.

I still think One UI is the best Android skin out there, no doubt. It's so flexible and you can tweak practically everything – it's miles ahead of what Google or Xiaomi are doing. But these little visual snags keep holding it back, you feel me? And I'm really hoping that with One UI 7.1 or even 8, Samsung finally takes a good look at this and irons out all these design quirks.

I know a bit about UI, enough to know when something just looks... off. I get that widgets are meant to be different sizes and all that, but come on, there's gotta be smarter ways to handle it. I see these widget packs for KWGT that cost a couple of bucks and they look cleaner (even if they don't do as much). But it's not just widgets, it's little bits and pieces all over the UI that just don't line up right. It's like, come on, Samsung, you're so close to perfect, just fix these little annoyances!

Inconsistency I think Samsung forgot to remove the old blur from this menu 💀

On A-series phones, when you open the power menu from the Quick Panel, it uses the newer, reduced blur.

But when you open the same power menu using
Power + Volume Down, it still uses the older, much stronger blur.

Here’s a comparison using the exact same wallpaper.

Samsung really forgot this one 😭

Inconsistency OneUI 7 is great and all, but why is there not even a consistent style in Samsung's own icons anymore?

Post image

It just seems like Samsung lost a lot of visual direction here. The Messenger app looks nearly identical, Contacts has no gradient, Cloud is closer to Material 1 than anything modern, and Radio is just skewmorphic now? Even the colour count and composition isn't unniform! The most consistent thing across these is the gradient, and even that isn't in every icon. In contrast, OUI 5/6 has a clear style with simplistic shapes, 1 or 2 shades of the same colour per icon, clear white lines with mostly rounded edges and a minimalist style that matches notification icons. If you look at a OUI 6 Samsung-made icon, it clearly is OneUI 6. But with these, you could probably get different guesses depending on which icon is in front of you. The calculator for example looks more like something from an iPhone!

Inconsistency One Ui = peak inconsistencies

Don't get me wrong, I really like One UI, but small design choices like this drive me crazy.

I'm currently testing the One UI 9 beta, and the new Home Up update added a "Favorite App Background" feature for the dock that uses actual real-time adaptive blur.

Here is the frustrating part: this adaptive blur works perfectly even when using third-party dynamic live wallpapers (which I personally really like to use). Yet, for some reason, Samsung's own native system widgets still don't support adaptive blur over custom live backgrounds. It's wild that a Good Lock customization module integrates better with live wallpapers than the stock system widgets do.

I got the new fold 8 that comes with OneUI 9.0 and noticed this! The OGs will get flashbacks lol.

I use a third party launcher and when I went to edge panel > gear icon > panels > Task panel, this prompt pops up.

Seems like Samsung needs to tidy this up.

Is it just me or there is a big inconsistency of Bluetooth icon thickness? Between quick access, volume indicator and top bar.

The whole app looks different from the rest of the phone UI. Adding to that, some elements are off center such as that circle. By default the banner occupies most of the interface and some users even reported seeing ADs for Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 8. Also for some reason it stopped syncing with Samsung Account since the update.

Old version was just better, i think we can all agree

Their response. This is utterly crap. I urge you all to write about these issues for A series via phone settings or Samsung Members app.

Does anyone know why the notification backgrounds are different? Is this a bug? Personally I like the top one more

edit: yeah, one ui 8.5 is buggy as hell. hope they fix a lot on one ui 9. I heard its supposed to be a polishing update rather than a billion new buggy features update

Inconsistency [FIX] Material You / Google apps stuck in gray on One UI? The culprit is the Multi-User system!

Heads up: this is what worked for me. One UI 8.5 on the Z Fold 7.

Spent the entire day troubleshooting this and finally fixed it. If your Google apps (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts) are stuck in a dead gray or default blue layout and completely ignoring your One UI color palette, IT IS A ONE UI MULTI-USER BUG.

I tested everything: exhaustive ADB commands, clearing caches, and palette managers (like ColorBlendr). Nothing worked until I completely uninstalled Secure Folder and Dual Messenger.

Why this happens: These two features create isolated secondary user profiles under the hood. Knox's aggressive isolation breaks the system's color broadcast. Because of this, Google Play Services goes "blind" to your current wallpaper palette and forces the default grayscale/blue fallback theme to avoid crashing.

The only fix that actually worked:

  • Completely disable Dual Messenger (deleting any cloned apps).
  • Turn off/Uninstall Secure Folder.

As soon as those secondary users were wiped, the Google Play Services bridge started working again, and dynamic colors kicked in instantly! If you absolutely need these features, you'll have to wait for Samsung to release a patch.

Inconsistency Samsung needs to improve the consistency of the One UI design

Starting with the lack of typographic standardization in the system, which is what bothers me the most. When you use the system's default font, many menus and interface elements still use Roboto, one of the worst fonts in history.

Inconsistency Took me a while to find "Internal storage"

Today, I had to arrange some files, and it took me a while to find "Internal storage".

In my mind, I was just trying to find something clickable, like that "Manage storage" and "Trash" below. "Internal storage" looks more like an information item rather than a clickable item. So, I think it's natural for me not to click it as it's only informational.

Why are they doing this? This isn't an AI thing where you need them to be so different. Though, I do admit dark mode is another story, it's just more visible.

This is on OneUI 8.5. Also note that I toggled "Recent files" to show, not hidden like in my screenshots. So, it was even more distracting when it happened.
