An orange pedophile wants to play battleship (badly) so I gotta pay $200 at the petrol pump. Love this timeline

Get an EV. Switched from diesel ranger - fuel cost has dropped from $5000 (at today's diesel price) to $700 for electric charging.
•
u/Fickle-City1122 22m ago
It's honestly looking more and more tempting by the day, but I don't have enough money yet for an EV
•

A cheap hybrid toyota is always a good budget friendly option ans there's a decent selection available

One day the degree to which he is being blackmailed by Israel will be known. It will be too late, but etched into the pages of history nonetheless. This is the legacy he is leaving, not whatever his narcissistic brain is telling him.

u/Expensive_Ring_4546 17m ago
Its very unfortunate.
But honestly if you can make the switch to a hybrid or an ev or even some other kind of pt or emobility device now it the time to do so
•

Good thing our govt has been encouraging the purchase of EV’s and public transport…
We’re fucked
•
u/theheliumkid 29m ago
And all the investment in solar too....
•
u/Expensive_Ring_4546 16m ago
Im excited to see that supposedly both major parties are supporting pro solar policies at this election
Its only 20 years behind Australia.. but better late than never i guess

That clean car rebate looks like genius in hindsight

Was good enough for Luxons Tesla. Maybe if we reduced the bright line test from two years to one year more of the exited the contributing to society class could trickle down the wealth faster.

You mean the 5.5b public transport project the government just opened? Yeah, that's a good thing.
•
u/Subject_Strike8546 19m ago
There's been 2 changes of government since the CRL was approved and funded.
The current government has only managed to fund roads and Lockheed Martin's Christmas party.
•
u/Jeffery95 Auckland 18m ago
Yeah it is. But it was started before they got into power. So this government cant claim credit. They would not have started it if it hadn’t already been going. They certainly haven’t made progress on any other equivalent projects.

Will be $5 a litre soon.
•
u/Expensive_Ring_4546 15m ago
Its entirely possible
Though the volume of oil making it through the straight of hormuz is almost back to pre war volumes currently so if that continues that will take some pressure off the price of oil

Problem is a bunch of supply has been taken offline in Russia at the same time as Saudi refinement has been targeted. Uncharted territory

My farts smell so good in the EV this week

These threads keep popping up, and we EV owners have to shut up as only recently have I noticed people starting to think of them as an option
•
u/toiletbowlwisdom green 11m ago
I talk to coworkers about buying an EV for their next car, I tried to explain the figures but they are not ready to except it

That depends on the time of day and how much charge you need. However, generally speaking, if you drive an average of 25-30km a day, the cost of charging an EV is about the same as paying 30c per litre for petrol. You can charge your EV overnight for about $3.00 per 100km, depending on the model and your electricity plan. A fast charge can cost up to $10 for 100km and takes about 20 minutes.
Straight from genesis power, However Fast charging is anywhere from 10-20$ depending on where you are these days sadly.
•
u/Nolsoth 45m ago
Which is still significantly cheaper than petrol.

Oh for sure. Just pointing out that the genesis site was a bit outdated compared to recent costs.
•
u/toiletbowlwisdom green 34m ago
Its about 120km free each night
•
u/FlugMe 45m ago
Fast chargers are public chargers. If you can charge at home why would you bother with a public charger?
•
u/quog38 100% Vaccinated. 100% Not magnetic. 43m ago
Depends on the person.
I know people who go shopping and charge their car while they shop. My friend goes to Costco every couple of months so going from Hamilton to Auckland they fast charge to get home at times.
•
u/FlugMe 41m ago
What an extremely common scenario...

I'm not sure why you're being sarcastic. People fast charge because they do. I gave you two situations from people I personally know. I cant speak for everyone else.
Next time I'm in my local parking building I'll ask the people charging there for you.

People travelling to another town is rare?? Wow you must live a sad little life in mummy's basement.
•
u/MinimumAmbassador545 33m ago
Free charging with solar you mean?
•
u/toiletbowlwisdom green 14m ago
Cos the rental I'm in has fixed gas line I'm with contact for power and they have an addon that is 9pm-12 free power weeknights
•

I'll find out if my car is written off tomorrow. I guess it'd be dumb not to go electric, but doubt there's anything in my price range. I hate the idea of buying a new car. I also don't like how electric cars have screens and all this unnecessary fluff. Stuff which probably makes it so expensive...
•
u/dottybotty 34m ago
The petrol and maintenance savings alone will offset buying an old dunger at a lower cost. Literally brought my first EV because it was cheaper to pay a loan + insurance on it than it was to keep filling my tank each week in a petrol car. Petrol is even more expensive now.
•
u/FlugMe 50m ago
New petrol cars get all the same screens, has nothing to do with it.
•
u/computer_d 44m ago
Won't be buying new. The comparison is with older, 201x petrol cars. That's what I'd otherwise buy, second hand.
•
u/Lassdoggo 22m ago
Been driving for 30 plus years and I think screens are very important and definitely necessary. They keep the wind and rain out and make seeing what's in front of you easier.
•
•
•
u/ChiefMuppetWrangler 27m ago
Screens are cheaper than the wiring harness required for physical switches - that’s why they’re in every new car.
•
u/Expensive_Ring_4546 13m ago
Used toyota hybrids are still an excellent and budget friendly option just fyi and are a massive improvement over fuel economy of non hybrid vehicles

sounds like a great time to spend a few more billion on roads
•
u/Ok-Currency1593 47m ago
EVs still need roads
•
u/basscycles 34m ago
Spending money on public transport, trains and bicycle lanes help take cars and trucks off the roads. Though you are right we still need to maintain the roads.

Waiting for that headline, that headline that tells us we are once and forever released from that orange nightmare. Like bad shit won't stop happening after he's gone but I'll still drink my first alcoholic toast in years.

•
u/SoulsofMist-_- 34m ago
Yup pretty expensive.
Use to cost $85 to fill from empty for my car, paid $110 from just under a quarter of a tank the other day
Crazy, glad work pays for my petrol.

Nah, just America and Israel. The rest of the planet is fine for the most part.
•
u/FlugMe 33m ago
I heard Russia and Ukraine is a dreamy paradise.
•
u/RuckusOGx 31m ago
Haha touche. Add them to the list. May as well toss on a bunch of other African and Middle Eastern countries while we are at it.
