Reigning EuroLeague defensive player of the year

Definition of a low-risk high-reward signing

I’m hoping he makes a difference for us because lord knows we need the defense lol

Also re-signed Spencer Jones. He's hurt his hamstring a bit but he should be back. Don't want to rush that even if it's minor.

Nuggets have a good defensive squad this year. I think Brazile will also surprise a lot of people too.

Imo, Peyton Watson not coming back may have worked out either way.

I’ve got real high hopes for Brazile, liked what o saw tonight and in summer league.

Good defensive squad but it’s so dependent on health :(

Aaron Gordon, Braun the year before last, Facu Campazzo before teams realized they could just shoot over him, PWat, Shaq Harrison, etc.

Thanks for bringing up Shaq Harrison, I'll die on the hill that he was on his way to becoming a good to great defender.

Yeah, it's a shame his offense couldn't get to even bench defender level before the time he started to physically decline. Davon Reed was also like this and so was Torrey Craig (who did end up getting his offense to that level) and maybe PJ Dozier but I think the ACL just disrupted his progression all too much.

My life is passing before my eyes lol. Loved PJ, terrible injury timing.

There's a second Diallo?

I remember when Pistons fans were convinced Hamidou was going to turn a corner. Around when we thought Dennis Smith Jr. was turning a corner. And when we thought Josh Jackson was turning a corner. And when we thought Marvin Bagley Jr. was turning a corner.

It's a common West African name. Probably see a lot more.

I mean last year even with injuries they had one of the best offenses in league history. I think people forget this after how bad the Nuggs shat the bed against Minny.

It's the preseason lol

I think Denver is going to surprise people this year, but watching preseason tells you almost nothing

This is when coaches are trying weird new lineups and weird new schemes, people are trying to get into rhythm, and random rookies are getting tons of burn

Preseason is very important. A lot of people dismiss it but it's a good way to set everything up for the regular season.

It's hugely important for the development of the team but doesn't provide much meaningful signal to fans unless you really know what you're looking for

They're not really trying weird stuff that often, they're trying to establish and fine tune the things they've been working on in practice. Sometimes that's new schematic stuff (often is) or with new personnel, rarer times it's trying something that they have a little idea might be something viable but aren't sure (double centers last year, for example), but relatively speaking it's like an enhanced practice scrimmage.

In that way you can definitely tell something from preseason, like what teams are looking to add/change/change/work on rolling into the season. The results and execution, unless they're really bad, aren't necessarily gonna translate into the regular season though.
