I think the same thing happened to De’arron Fox at the start of last season too, he had to miss preseason cause he got injured in training camp

Iirc, Fox was held back due to a hamstring strain that happened in July. He even cancelled his trip to China to focus on the rehab.

There was a interview in preseason where Fox said he spoke to a bunch of other NBA players who'd dealt with hammy issues. And they'd recommended it's better to take extra time with hammy issues, because you can easily re-aggravate them even if you feel like you are ready to do and play.

I just strained mine too yesterday playing beer league.

Must be something in the water.

Definitely need to be careful with calf strains as well. Usually leads to achilles tear if they continue playing through it

Yearly injury for him smh

Is it? I thought Tobias Harris is historically a very healthy player? I feel like I can’t even remember any injuries he’s really had.

23

u/roastedhambone Thunder 5h ago

Yeah he’s played at least 61 games every season for the last 14 years, only 3 under 65 games in that stretch

I will never hate on Tobias I would take him back in an instant

So Champagnie will remain the starting PF for a couple weeks. Very similar to the beginning of last year when Fox was out the beginning of the season

This sucks, I love me some Uncle T. I know Sixers fans like to clown on him but he was great for the Pistons.

Guy is actually the contract value GOAT, wow. Such consistency, too

WTF are you talking about???

u/EfficientReach5571 Knicks 6h ago

22nd all-time highest career earnings, just signed yet another contract and is immediately injured. I meant that he is the GOAT at getting maximum value contracts given his talent/contribution. My bad it was poorly phrased lol

I’d say 15/year for Tobias Harris is pretty reasonable. If we need him not injured at any point of the season then we have other issues to attend to.

3

u/EfficientReach5571 Knicks 5h ago

Yeah I agree it's pretty reasonable and he can absolutely contribute. I guess his career earnings are mostly that Sixers max which.. yeah

u/ICEtoAshes Spurs 4h ago

We didn’t overpay for him. Idgaf what he made before.

u/youblewwit 6h ago

I was going to make a joke about him being the NBA's version of Kirk Cousins, but holy shit Kirk Cousins is #4 all time in NFL career earnings

1) Matthew Stafford - $448mil

2) Aaron Rodgers - $417mil

3) Dak Prescott - $337mil

4) Kirk Cousins - $333mil

5) Tom Brady - $ 332mil

6) Russell Wilson - $315mil

idk shit about football but maybe that's James Harden (also 4th all-time)? Or Paul George at 5th is actually way more shocking

Well that's a bummer hope it's nothing serious

Dylan Harper takes his spot

17

u/North_Maybe1998 6h ago

I don’t think Dylan can play PF

18

u/Doughy_Joey Raptors 6h ago

thats not how that works lmao

19

u/Ok_Chest_1203 Nuggets 6h ago

why would dylan harper, a guard, take a forward's spot? Are the spurs gonna run a 3 guard lineup?

8

u/Live-Cartographer-52 6h ago

spurs death lineup will be a 3 guard lineup

1

u/FKJVMMP [MIL] Bill Zopf 6h ago

They could, Harper and Castle are both pretty big. Depends who they’re playing I guess, but as long as they’re not up against a true double-big lineup (eg. Heat) they could get away with it just fine.

1

u/Ok_Chest_1203 Nuggets 6h ago

The on/off metrics for that lineup seem pretty fucking bad for some reason but the sample size is pretty tiny.

1

u/Wild-Bid8858 4h ago

Yup. The Fox/Castle/Harper lineup is lacking size in the forward position and reliable corner shooters.

4

u/pantaloofs Spurs 6h ago

height aside, i think the spurs could get away with steph castle as a forward more easily than they could get away with dylan harper as a forward….

I’m not a bad person but I got a little happy when I read this message. Maybe we can start out with a win and then go 82-0

"I'm not a bad person but I got happy hearing a player was injured" Yeah, yeah.. Makes perfect sense, yep.

Tobias wasn't there in the playoffs last season. 2 pounds heavier Chet will still be afraid against Wemby

-17

u/SHEEPLE24 Thunder 6h ago

Neither was Jdub or wemby and we took them to 7 so we’ll see what happens I’m very excited for it. Sucks Harris isn’t there tho it woulda been a fun matchup

6

u/FERFreak731 Jazz 6h ago

The Thunder will always lose to the Spurs when it matters as long as Chet has Wembyphobia

1

u/SHEEPLE24 Thunder 6h ago

Hey what’s wemby doing against 215 pounds instead of 213. Big money moves right there
