Idk why we lionize JFK so much. He was just as much an imperialist as the rest of them. He didn't even really do much as president. Most of his legacy is based off the shit LBJ passed in his honor (like the Civil Rights Act). Most overrated president of all time.
"He was just as much an imperialist as the rest of them. He didn't even really do much as president." come on man LMAOOO
he is lionized because he was such a thorn in the side of the deep state and capitalist/industrial class that they fucking organized a coup and killed him. He was a rich kid with ideals and didn't kowtow to the whims of the establishment, he wasn't perfect but come on man he was the last actual president the states had.

By "didn't do much", I mean he barely passed any meaningful legislation domestically. He was big on continuing wars overseas. And he orchestrated the disastrous bay of pigs invasion.

This is a conspiracy and one that is inconsistent with JFKs behavior in office. There was nothing that indicated he was anti-capitalist in any sense of the word.

LBJ (as much of a piece of shit he was) was a far more effective president and it's not close. Again, most of JFKs legacy depends on legislation that LBJ whipped congress into passing based on JFKs skyrocketing popularity post-assassination. JFK himself did fuck all during his brief presidency besides continue US imperialism. If he hadn't been assassinated he'd have Jimmy Carter's or, at best, Obama's legacy.
The fact that the majority of people's perception of him depends on conspiracy theories surrounding his intentions and "capitalists organizing a coup" rather than anything he actually did or advocated for as president says everything anyone needs to know. His legacy is basically fan fiction rewriting who he was. He was not the anti-establishment figure you are painting him as.

You have yet to present a counterpoint because you know I'm right. His entire legacy is a fabrication based on nothing he did while he was alive. LBJ passed far more progressive legislation than JFK ever came close to passing. That's not a matter for debate, it's a plain statement of fact.
I agree about people's perception being assassination-centric regarding JFK, and honestly most of what you said, but I was just laughing at the description of him being "just as imperialist as the rest of them".
Like the most notable thing about his term and his ideals is that he pushed back against the CIA and military/industrial/capitalist class, so they killed him to secure their interests.
Except he didn't. He was still engaging in a ton of imperialist shit. He talked a big game, but so does Donald Trump. You can't just handwave away his continuation of Eisenhowers foreign policy (the man literally went to Eisenhower for advice on foreign policy). You can't pretend the bay of pigs invasion never happened.
We don't know who killed him. The idea that it was wealthy industrialists who orchestrated it for the purpose of protecting their interests is a theory fabricated out of thin air to paint JFK as a martyr for a cause we have no evidence he even believed in.
By all accounts, even the parts of LBJs agenda that carried over from JFK were expanded on greatly by LBJ. The Civil Rights Act was more progressive. LBJ created jobs programs, created Medicaid and Medicare. Passed the voting rights act. He was far better on economic policy and civil rights than JFK ever showed himself to be. LBJ has a bigger stain on foreign policy, obviously, because of his expansion of the Vietnam war and intiating a draft. But it's not like JFK wasn't imperialist in his own right and JFK was feckless on his domestic agenda.
Again, JFKs legacy would be Obama's legacy had he not been assassinated. He was great public speaker, but his policies were not a huge break from the status quo. He was not anti-establishment.
Once again not providing a single shred of evidence to support your assertion just responding with empty replies like this. Just admit your perception of JFK is dependent on conspiracy theories and fan fiction you read online and not anything he actually did as president.
He's lionized because he was killed mysteriously in broad daylight. Thats the reason.
Nobody could/should claim him an anti capitalist, but he was obviously anti war and anti military industrial complex, as he intentionally deescalated Cuba and kept refusing to escalate Vietnam.
Seeing as war is the driving force of the economy, that behavior did not make him popular with powerful people
