Its not arbitrary when you can disable most of that stuff on your phone + you need a phone to live in 2026. You can't disable shit on a home assistants or else it wouldn't work + you don't need one to live in 2026.
honestly, whenever I want to talk to my partner about my plans for corporate espionage, acts of treason, insider trading or my haemorrhoids, I just use my whisper voice or cover the Google Home Mini with a pillow.
a) For now you're not interesting to the govenrnment. Note the course this government took towards authoritarianism and try criticizing Israel, like anyone whose country supports Israeli war crimes should. Then hope it won't have IRL consequences.
b) Bruh, noone needs to focus on you in particular -- an algorithm will. Psychology and analytics have advanced enough for Target to know that a daughter was pregnant before the rest of the family did -- 15 years ago, and they have advanced enough for companies to know when you're most vulnerable to manipulation (so betting sites advertised to new moms), while your data tells them what's the best angle to target you.
c) In case of that data falling in wrong hands, you don't have a luxury of assuming China won't target regular citizens -- those are the words of FBI director Christopher Wray after China proved they will target anyone.
Even if you don't care about the effect this has or may have on you, this kind of naivete helps them calibrate models for manipulation even better, so it harms others.
The only thing it listens to is the phrase "Alexa" and then it does whatever robot shit you want it to do hands free. It's not mass surveillance any more than carrying around a cellphone is.
Are you telling me you don't carry your phone in a Faraday cage when not using it? Sheep! ?s

Why do you guys want a 24/7 recording device from one of the largest companies to listen in on every single thing going on at your homes…
