I guess I just consider them to be the same mode, but you are probably technically correct. Sleep mode on some things puts them in a low power standby mode and is used as a misnomer so I would consider this to be that kinda thing where it goes idle and doesn't update until woken back up.
It's not a screensaver, dipshit. It goes into sleep mode after a short time of not being used and the screen stays on whatever was displayed at the time. When OP spoke to it and woke it up, it came out of sleep mode and the time was on the screen.
How did you two manage to escalate this entirely inncouous comment chain so quickly lmao, whether or not a stranger's clock uses a screensaver is not this serious
Probably because I'm giving perfectly reasonable, rational, and actual responses as to why it happened. But everyone want to read more into it than what it is like we're on the verge of being taken over by Alexa and they just can't let it go.
did...did anyone say that? I think it was just mostly people thinking it's weird. not that it was an apocalypse indicator.
Also, going to sleep in dark mode to preserve the screen is what we call a screen saver. Just because it's not a pipe maze or an anime girl fucking doesn't mean it isn't a screen saver. a sleep mode screen is still to save the screen.
but why not just turn off the fkn display to save power? if it's not even showing the time, this is just stupid and wasteful.
but sometimes i forget programmers nowadays are just fkn incomptent morons and care not about saving power or making things efficient, likely because management is a bunch of fkn idiots trying to squeeze the life out of everyone with ridiculous timelines and enshitifying products.. i fkn hate it here in the tech world

No that’s exactly what I thought. I just assume it plays random things or the 7am if nothing else is selected.
