Turn off the new AI version of Alexa. You can fix it in the settings. The programmatic one is/was better. They're threatening to remove it at some point but if enough people make the switch back, I bet they won't.

As soon as they put that cloud-AI thing (and ads) into the responses, I started planning how to replace it entirely with Home Assistant's voice stuff.

So far, I'd been content to just hook Alexa and HA together so I could control either with the other, but it's reached, "Oh fuck this shit," stage.

Google didn't listen. Or enough people just decided they like Gemini's enshittified assistant. Either way, all my automations are broken now.

When I asked the New Alexa how much water she uses she told me she uses 30x times the water of the old one. For a shittier product! I reverted to the old one.

To do this, you must say something like “Alexa cancel beta access” or “Alexa cancel Alexa+”

It was making me so mad— new voice, responses 5 seconds slower because now it has to “think” instead of accessing pre-built commands (I’m guessing, I’m not a data plumber)

Anyway, if your Alexa has the new valley girl voice, you’re in “Alexa+” and you need to “cancel”
