If people think that government hospitals are bad now, wait until the majority of the population is old, which is not that far away.

Meanwhile the songlap ones are paying premium healthcare in other countries

my pessimist view is that the public healthcare coffers will break before it reaches that stage 27 years later. Industry will be force to privatized, no more free healthcare, and thus much lesser queue

Bro i think we are already there now if we look at the hospital capacity. I personally hate going to hospital, but the current elder generation loves going there, for whatever reason. I foresee myself not being able to even seek proper medical care if I go to public hospital.

Doesn’t help that the old cretins running for office are all “aging”. By the time we reach our 40s where society will have expected us to settle down, boomers will have siphoned it all that there’s nothing left to settle.

Get ready to be taxed like crazy kids.

...is this supposed to fearmonger me into breeding? lol

Make life better for people to live and for people to be parents and have children responsibly. Being angry at childless adults because we didn't breed like rabbits serve no purpose. Let the resources go to those alive now. But hey, even kids aren't safe in schools now.

Exactly lol, what to do when everything is getting more expensive, working hours are longer, and free time is less?

Why put yourself through another stress of having kids, when you have so many other sources of stress

Agree. Don't make your kids suffer in this world just because of the excuse to extend your family bloodline.

and then wholesale expecting the adult children to caregive for the elderly. Basically have a lot of kids so you can choose favourites between them.

Ngl.. I am pissed off at with the aging adults who said "tua nanti siapa nak jaga" fearmongering like oh now... you expect me care for you exclusively when you're aging and getting unhealthier as you age and but also expect me to miraculously in this economy to get a stable job, to have a lot of money out of nothing, to buy a house, marry someone and create life and to uplift the family image as a whole.. like soooo obtuse and soooo greedy.

27 years sounds long on paper, but it passes in a flash. Without major reforms to EPF, healthcare, and public infrastructure, we’re going to get old before we get rich.

Ya they going to continue to take resources from the next generation.

Well Anwar was thinking to have 6yr olds to enter into primary school. That would make Malaysians enter into the workforce earlier to support the free KTM rides, free zoo entry, free healthcare, free bus rides, and so on for the warga emas right? /s

Maybe population collapse is not really a bad thing in the long run.

Ageing population is a global issue none of us are ready for. Hopefully some other nation comes up with a full proof systemic change so we can just copy and paste

Other countries are worried about the birthrates, meanwhile Malaysian politician are busy with racist & politics lol. I never see any politician raise a concern about birth-rates of Malaysians

Malaysia has to get rich before becoming an ageing nation.

Well let’s see if Malaysia is wise enough to not get into the western fallacy of believing that the ‘state’ (really the tax money of successful men) doing more for everyone, well really women, will make women want to have more children, which is demonstrably literally the opposite of what has happened in every western society.

Granted Reddit will not see that reality.

The state doing less and keeping religious values is the key to people having more children. Western societies had the post war baby boom (versus non war times) in the 1950s and 60s, with all their technological advancements. This ended after the 1960s when religious values were swept away.

The state doing nothing (in terms of interfering) allows the natural balance between the genders to be maintained.

It’s counter intuitive, sort of, until you think deeply about it.
