If you're wondering if your cat is a MC, this is the place to ask!
In general, this subreddit operates under the assumption that having no papers means your cat is not a Maine Coon. However, what we can tell you is whether your cat does indeed exhibit any physical characteristics that look like those of a Maine Coon.

Iām so obsessed with him. I canāt believe Iāve had him for 3 weeks now! Heās made himself right at home.
If anyone is wondering about the weird collar, itās a rfid tag shrink wrapped. Heās got a special feeder that my ragdoll can still manage to break into.

Bryn now knows the importance of gun safety and other important topics every cat should be aware of. What should be her first weapon? Lmao

Thatās the stare of an orange Buddha whoās been fed the wrong breakfast.
I almost gave in. I almost appologised. I almost got down on my knees begging for forgiveness. I almost swore to never ever ever EVER doing that againg. I almost handed over my credit card, car, horses, gold mines, my life.
But then, I didnāt: Iāve finally found something that is not a garden fence that he wouldnāt stuff his cute and most adored face with in 0.01 nanoseconds.
Where TF are my bloody earplugs?

We just brought home Ruby, a 3 month old Maine coon girl last night. We chose her over another baby boy cos she purred so much when we held her.
Back in her new room, she purrs a lot too. We have a overfriendly mini dachshund at home but heās separated from her at this point. My husband and I take turns going into Rubyās room to play with her but we notice she purrs A LOT.
When weāre near her, when we touch her, when she is beside us grooming herself, SHE PURRS. Like a motor running without stopping. She has warmed up to us fast - she lies down & shows her belly, allows belly rubs etc.
We are first time cat owners but know that purring might not always be a good thing.
Is there anything we should take note of? Is she happy? Or stressed that she knows thereās an extroverted dog at the door?
Please help, thank u!

Hello to the wonderful MC people who allow me to glaze your beautiful cats. Apparently a MC cattery named one of their kittens after the actor who played Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones because they are both ākissed by fireā.
I am not affiliated with the breeder, just a fan of the show and you kindly allow me to lurk here and appreciate your majestic and glorious cats, so thought Iād share this for a laugh. Of course, delete if this is not permitted. Cheers

This is Goose. She is 14 weeks old. May or may not have pooped in the carrier on the way home to us earlier in the week... and on her first trip to the vet yesterday... and she'd do it again, too.
Her hobbies include naps, springs, purring, springs, cat tree lounging, springs... I laughed at the springs before I bought them, "Seriously, plastic springs? Is that what we're doing these days?" Officially the top toy she loves, will chase for hours, 10/10.

Meet crouton, our 2 year old main character.
Recently, as soon as I turn the stove on (induction, so it beeps) she will run over and start screaming at me to cuddle her! She will wrap her arms around my ankles and just be in the way until I pick her up to cuddle
Sheās never gotten any human food, we donāt cook a lot of meat (so no enticing smells), never drop anything etc so no reason for her to be interested in me cooking. No cans are opened for her either etc. Weāve had her since she was 4 months old and sheās only started doing it recently. She just genuinely seems to want to be cuddled all of a sudden!

Very upset and at this pointingā¦.just ventingā¦.
We bought a male Maine coon kitten about 2 weeks ago. Had put down a deposit and waited till he was ready to come home. We paid $2,500 for him. Breeder has over 20k followers on FB. They have been breeding for 10+ years, kitten is out of titled, imported parents. Breeder has a āknown nameā. They seemed reputable.
Upon receiving the kitten, he was so small for his ageā¦every vertebrae along his spine could be felt along with his hip bones. Her contract with additional information wasnāt released to us until we received him. She has a clause that she doesnāt cover health of the kitten if it has diarrhea since itās due to clients changing their food. We bought the same food and he has had diarrhea since we got him. He is lovely and playful and gaining weight though. We took him into the vet 30hrs after receiving him. His weight was 3.6 lbs for a 13 week old Maine Coon. We have sent out a GI PCR panel to see what the underlying cause might be. Also, when we received this kitten, his feet and cheeks were stained yellowā¦we think from urine/feces. At the end of the day, we love him and he is on the mend!!!
