Looking for Advice Can I have both of these in my commander deck?
I’m just getting back in MtG and am wanting to play commander. Currently building a deck. Is having both of these okay/recommended?

This is a place for asking simple questions that might not deserve their own thread. For example, if you have a question about a rules interaction, want sleeve and accessory recommendations, or suggestions for your new deck, then this is the place for you.
We encourage that you post any questions that you may have concerning Magic the Gathering here rather than make a separate thread for each question, though for now we won't require that you do so.
Rules Questions
Rules questions and interactions are allowed to be posted here, but if you need an answer quickly it may be best to use a dedicated resource like the 24/7 Magic the Gathering Rules Chat.
Deckbuilding Questions
If you're trying to get help with a deck, it is recommended that you post your decklist to a deckbuilding website so that it is easier to view. Some popular sites are Aetherhub, Archidekt, Deckbox, Deckstats, Moxfield, MTGGoldfish, and TappedOut.
Additionally, please include some description of what you are trying to accomplish. Don't just give us a decklist with no explanation, and don't ask extremely vague questions such as "what cards should I add to my deck to make it better?", because it's hard to give good advice in those cases. Let us know details, the more the better. Are you building with a particular strategy or theme in mind? Are there any non-obvious combo lines or synergies that people should be aware of? Are you struggling with a particular matchup, or are you finding yourself missing consistency in an important area, and need some help specifically for it? Let us know.
Commonly Asked Questions
I opened a card from a different set in my booster pack, is this unusual?
Don't worry, this is completely normal. If you opened a set booster, you have a small chance of obtaining a bonus card from a previous set. This is an extra card that does not replace any of the other cards in your pack, and is from a curated set of past hits that Wizards of the Coast has selected, which they call "The List".
You can view the contents of The List on Wizards of the Coast's official website. For example, the contents of The List for Streets of New Capenna boosters can be found here.
My foil card has a shooting start symbol over the bottom left. I can't find anything about it online.
All old-bordered foils have the shooting star symbol. Most sites that display card images just overlay a generic foil graphic over all foil cards, which doesn't include the shooting star. Your card is normal.

Normally, all posts in this subreddit need to be both Magic-related and at least somewhat "high effort". This weekly thread gives you the chance to relax and talk with your fellow Magic redditors about things that would normally go against those rules.
Want to share a funny story about a recent game of Magic you had, or post a picture of the cool cards you opened in your latest booster? Want to talk about your favorite movie or tv show, or share a personal accomplishment? This is the place to do so.
Keep in mind that the *only* subreddit rules that you can ignore in this thread are rule 2 (all posts must be Magic-related) and rule 7 (no low effort posts that are just pictures of cards). Just because this thread is meant for open discussion does not mean you are allowed to insult people or post explicit content, for example.

Command the Stage took me to a top 8 in my limited RCQ yesterday. Super easy to recur with cards like [[Stingerquill Voxmanxer]] and [[Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance]]. What cards have been the biggest surprise for you from Reality Fracture?

Im building a prepared deck that would have jegantha as the companion. Would I be able to have both these cards, neither or just the emeritus due to mana pips on the card it self and the prepared spell?

Very strange ask, but I have had no luck on my own. Back when [[Lurrus of the Dream]] den got hit by a ton of bans when Ikoria released, there was a piece of art released iirc on the MTG Japan Twitter page. It was of Lurrus and her kittens in a cardboard box, with a message on the box that read something like, "Give me a home, Legacy players." I've looked on Twitter, Reddit, and Google, but I cannot find it.
Is anyone familiar with this art and can direct me to it? Thanks!

I really need tips for this set. I've gotten absolutely stomped in so many drafts this week. It feels like no matter how good my deck is, my opponents always have better decks, even if I'm in the open lane. I had idk how many games where I got mana screwed no matter how many lands I run (16-17). Any help is appreciated; I'm really close to giving up on this set, but I keep hearing how good it is.

[[Aetherflux reservoir]] says that you gain 1 life for each spell you’ve cast this turn. With an [[ajani’s pridemate]] type effect on the field, the individual lifegain triggers matter, not total amount. So, with aetherflux on the field, would it go:
Spell 1: gain 1 life
Spell 2: gain 2 life
Spell 3: gain 3 life
etc
Or would it go:
Spell 1: gain 1 life
Spell 2: gain 1 life, gain 1 life
Spell 3: gain 1 life, gain 1 life, gain 1 life
etc
There are a few other cards (like [[Tablet of the guilds]]) that have similar wording so i’m wondering about this for them too. I read it the second way, but i had someone saying it plays the first way.
Thanks!

If you add any other third card that creates a Treasure, Clue, or Food token, would these two make infinite tokens?
Let's say you equip one if these with [[Goldvein Pick]] and attack to create a Treasure token. [[Academy Manufactor]] sees this and creates all 3 tokens. [[Bilbo, Fellow Conspirator]] sees the new Food token, and creates a Treasure. AM sees the new Treasure, and creats all three. Bilbo sees the new Food, creates another Treasure, etc.
Edit: thanks for all the clarifications!

Hi, I'm new to Magic and need a deck to play with my friends. Since I don't know much about the game I wanted to start with a structure/starter commander deck but I also really like Lightning.
Is there a red and white playready deck that I could combine with Lightning? It doesn't have to be strong, I just has to work. Thanks in advance!

Ok, if I cast Twinferno and choose to copy my next spell, then cast Devastating Onslaught to copy, say, Ancient hellkite and pay 7 to create 3 copies, does Twinferno create 3 more copies?

I think it solves a lot of the problems the mechanic presents for a draft environment, though it would probably have to be a pick 2 draft focused set. Might be a little clunky since you also always get an unpaired meld card, but with the right flavor I think it would be really cool.

Me and my friends are thinking of playing some matches of a historical format, we heard really good thing about the Kamigawa-Ravnica Standard, so that's what we were going for.
Problem being... What is the best part of that meta? Was it just Kamigawa Block and Ravnica? Kamigawa Block and Ravnica+Guildpact? Or Kamigawa Block and Ravnica+Guildpact+Dissension?
We weren't playing competitively back when those sets were around, so we have no idea of how good the meta was back then, and we just want to get the best experience for our matches, so... If anyone who was around back then had any opinions on that, it would be appreciated.
Edit: To be extra clear, I'm mostly trying to figure out what parts of the Ravnica Block (on top of the Kamigawa Block) we should play with. As in... Just Ravnica, Ravnica + Guildpact or the full Block with Ravnica + Guildpact + Dissension. I just wanna know what is the best meta between those 3.

As someone with no interest in standard, I’m really hoping we get a reprint set next year.

Does the x damage from [[Hawkeye, young avenger]] get added to the noncombat damage source, or does she deal her own additional damage. Im wondering: if I had a noncombat source of infect trigger her, does she add her power to the infect source.
Example: Battlefield is [[Ingris Stingerquill]], [[Plague Myr]], Hawkeye. On combat, swing plague myr. Trigger ingris to do 1 poison counter to each opponent. Does Hawkeye trigger and make that poison counter 3 (1 + 2 power from her), or does it just do 1 poison counter still and then 2 health damage to each opponent?
Im fairly certain its the way id want (3 poison) since Hawkeye says "instead IT (meaning the damage source) deals that much plus X".

Had a situation in a game today and I'd love some clarification.
I attacked with a 5/5.
My partner blocked with a 1/1 and played Burst Lightning with a kicker, dealing the missing 4 damage to kill my attacker.
So I casted Burst Lightning on the blocker.
In my opinion, spells are getting into effect first, so the Burst Lightning should kill the blocker, thus removing his damage on my attacker. My attacker is blocked, but survives.
My partner argued that his Blocker died, but that his damage still goes through, thus killing my attacker and wasting my spell.
Who's correct?
Edit: Thank you so much for your replies! This was super informative!
Since the question of timing came up a few times: I attacked with several creatures. He started announcing the blockers, the first blocker was the 1/1 assigned to my 5/5, and he directly added the kicked Burst Lightning, then went on to announce the other blockers, and at that time I played my Burst Lightning. Now I know that this was a mess in itself in the matter of clear phase declaring, but my spell response came before the combat damage phase. We'll both learn from this experience for sure! Again, thanks to everyone for the detailed responses!
