Parts Upgrade Advice Getting the best performance out of my GTX 1050 Ti?

Hello,

i am very poor, and live in a country where prices are quite higher than in places like the US (If you can believe that, with the current state of hardware prices in general x.X!)

In 2024 started out with a ryzen 3 3200g, 16gb ddr4 pc, hoping to upgrade it in the future, sort of like an entry level pc since my last one was a core2duo e8440.

When the time came, in 2025, somebody checked the best options locally and recommended me the gtx 1050 TI 4gb (i got it for $80,000 pesos, or $120,000 adjusted for inflation---for reference, my monthly income is $180,000 argentinean pesos) i can't even begin to tell you how thankful i am, not only was it an absolute steal, which is rare in this market, but it allowed me to play all fighting games up to 2026 in stable 60 fps or near 60 fps. I was able to upgrade to a ryzen 5 5600x aswell.

Now, 2026 is coming along, and i just don't know what may be the best upgrade option gpu wise...i am beginning to think 2027 will be the year my luck will finally run out, with games like virtual fighter crossroads...

So, i was wondering, do you happen to have any suggestions as to what may be a budget gpu upgrade that can provide ok 720p or 1080p performance in coming years?

And, do you have any tips,, technical advice, personal experience with certain games with this card, configuration settings, that you'd like to share with me?

Thanks!

Parts Upgrade Advice New GPU for older CPU

Recently, my 8 years old gtx1050ti died. so im searching for a new gpu.
the problem is, i think every modern gpu will get "bottle necked" by my older system.
My pc specs are:
CPU : i5 9600k
MOBO : gigabyte b365m h
RAM : 16gb ddr4
PSU : corsair cx550

The point is, i dont play any new games. / AAA games.
The main thing i play is rocket league
and i only play on 1080p which can also convert to "bottleneck"
and here and there some war thunder
minecraft
fall guys
fortnite

What gpu would yall recommend?
at any budget (cause i know expensive gpus wouldnt really fit my system)

Parts Upgrade Advice 3060 (12GB) vs 3060 Ti (8GB)?

Hi, I'm planning to save to upgrade my 1070 next year because I wanna see how things look in Sons of the Forest with DLSS instead of FSR. They're currently at similar prices in the used market for around $180.

Not planning to upgrade my 550W PSU anytime soon yet I have a 1440p monitor. I got Hogwarts Legacy free from Epic a while ago and wanna try it. Also wanted to buy RDR2 since I've been wanting to play that game so bad since forever.

Which GPU do you think is better for me if:
- I don't mind to adjust texture quality to low (to compromise 8GB VRAM)
- Or to use a more agressive upscaling (to compromise GPU raw performance)

There's a rule saying I gotta list the rest of my PC things or else the post would be deleted.. (really?)

Parts Upgrade Advice does i5 7500 -> i7 7700 worth it?

currently i am rocking an i5 7500 with 16 gb of ddr4 and a gtx 1650 with win10, i used to run apex legends with this setup no problem, but since this new season, i have massive fps drops when i get into sweaty fights and generally lose them, i am currently not sure when i will invest in a new pc, but it seems i am stuck with this setup for at least the next 12 months, would it make sense maxing out the mobo and upgrading to an i7 7700 for this 12 months? alteratively was looking at cooler updates since, under full load the temp is quite high ( 90C+ ), it was pasted a while back 12+ months ago, should i repaste? it was always kind of running hot tho?), so i suspect the cooler. this was originally an office pc lenovo m710s

Parts Upgrade Advice Looking GPU and RAM recommendations for AMD Athlon II X2 270 CPU and Gigabyte 78LMT S2 motherboard running.

I already installed 8 GB dual channel RAM on it. I am using it onboard ATI Radeon HD 3000 GPU. Should i upgrade its RAM for better perfermance for the games of 2010 era ? What GPU is most compatible with it considering not to bottleneck with dual core CPU. Currently i am running Windows 7, would run GNU/Linux distro if that offers better performance. I am based on India and my budget is around 100 USD.

Edit :- There's sentimental value of me for that PC so i don't wanna upgrade CPU or Motherboard or switch to differennt PC. Its my secondary PC my main PC can handle modern AAA titles.

Parts Upgrade Advice Potential upgrade to RX 550 4GB or RX6300 2GB

This post is a bit different because this is for not a personal device. I'm working with a non-profit on repurposing old hardware. Gaming is in a bit of a crisis and the hardware does not natively support Windows 11, so why not game on it. Intel HD 630 is fairly decent though not great for playing games on Low at 1080p and occasionally 720p to get somewhere around 30-60 FPS, though less is common enough. Still playable. Based on stats reporting (not recorded) I am GPU limited in the games I am testing (not shocking).

Curiosity has me wondering if either of the cards referenced in the title would be worth trying out.* This would be a personal expense though and the card afterwards has no purpose. It's unlikely that additional cards could be purchased to increase performance.* All the existing low profile graphics cards in stock based on quick google searches perform worse than the integrated graphics. Should I be spending money on this? Absolutely not. Curiosity is a dangerous thing.

Edit: Italic sections based on current comments that I think are being missed.

Parts Upgrade Advice Would an i7 4770 be a worthwhile upgrade to my i5 4460?

I know both of these CPUs are over a decade old but i currently am not in a financially good situation to buy new PC hardware. I have just paid my university fees so i cant afford anything expensive. The i7 4770 would cost around 3-4K INR (roughly 30-40 USD). I can also sell the current CPU for around 1-2K INR. I mostly use this pc for gaming, designing, occasionally edit videos and any other college work that i might have to do (programming, CAD work, PCB designing). Also note, this is a dell optiplex i am upgrading with 255W PSU

I know i should save and spend more on a used modern platform like AM4 but that simply too broke to do to. My monthly allowance would only cover cost for transportation and occasionally buying lunch at the cafetaria. I am only able to afford this CPU with my birthday money and selling my current CPU.

Current PC Specs:
i5 4460
12GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
RTX 3050 6GB
255W PSU

Parts Upgrade Advice Hi guys as you know it's really expensive nowadays to build a pc so I asked one of my friends to lend me their old pc for basic use like Web surfing, editing videos on capcut and some older or emulator games. It seems like it's core 2 quad, he did say he was using win 10 in it, it might have 2gb or 4gb ram I would need to upgrade it to its max 8gb and for WiFi I do have a USB receiver and yes I also need to add a graphics card in this as the motherboard only have vga, thinking about 1050ti but the version I saw on FB have a 6 pin power connector, maybe I need to upgrade the PSU too? Suggest me your thoughts. I don't need a powerful pc as I was using win 7 for years. Motherboard is ASROCK GM41S

Parts Upgrade Advice Moderate hardware upgrades for 2010 desktop

Just came into possession of an old HP home desktop from 2010. Owner never did anything with it besides browse the internet and basic office-type work, so it's still rocking Windows 7 on a Foxconn 2AB1 motherboard with an AMD Phenom II CPU, an ATI Radeon 4200 IGP, and 5 GB of RAM.

All I really want to run on it is stuff like the Unreal Tournament games, the original Battlefront titles, and maybe some emulators, Doom source ports, etc, but trying to set the resolution past something like 1024x768 and turning on options like AA makes it want to chug.

Just wondering if anybody who owned/owns something similar knows a decent CPU and GPU I could plug into it for smooth 1920x1080 capability with a few other bells and whistles. Some front page search results see people saying it's not a great motherboard to start with, but I've never owned a desktop before this and would rather start small with one or two parts if possible than try to build from the ground up. Not in a financial position where I can justify spending more than a couple hundred bucks, anyways.

Parts Upgrade Advice My little 1070. The treasure of my setup

If you’ve seen my previous posts, you know how much I loved this card and my PC. I was always proud to show it off because, for me, it was more than just hardware. It was my little 1070, my baby, and my treasure. It made me incredibly happy and allowed me to enjoy gaming at a great level despite everything.

Unfortunately, the journey ends here. I’ve attached photos of the artifacts it started throwing before it finally went dark. It’s hard to describe the feeling of losing the one thing that kept you connected to your hobbies.

Living in Cuba, the situation makes it practically impossible to find a replacement or even think about an upgrade right now. It’s not just about the money; it’s about how difficult it is to get anything here. I guess it's time for a massive downgrade for me, lol. Back to basics while I figure out how to survive this.

I just wanted to update the community that saw my earlier posts and officially say goodbye to this legend. It served me well until the very last frame.

See you around, guys from ARC Raiders and other games... I’ll be gone for a good while

Parts Upgrade Advice 32gb ram at 3000 Mhz or 16gb at 3600Mhz

I received a kit of GSkill 2x8gb 3000Mhz of RAM from a coworker for free and i was wondering if it’s worth putting them into my gaming rig. I already have 2 sticks of 8gb DDR4 Corsair Ram at 3600Mhz. What’s better, sticking to 16gb at 3600 or going to 32gb and dropping to 3000Mhz?
My use cases for this pc is a mix of games released in the early 2010s and some more recent titles. I don’t do any coding anymore as i’ve switched majors from CS to Business. I use Zen Browser and i constantly have more than 15 tabs open.
Let me know if i can provide any extra info.
Other components:
GPU: 2070 Super (Gigabyte triple fan)
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G (i know it’s not the best, i used to game without a gpu, i bought it when i built the pc without a GPU)
Motherboard: MSI B550 MAG Tomahawk (or something like that)
Case?: Corsair Airflow 400D
And of course I am on Winslop 11 (I use fedora on my laptop btw)

Parts Upgrade Advice Lowest for Roblox?

Hi my daughter is playing on an i3 6100 while I have a fx 8350. Her game runs so much smoother. Mine is so slow that it affects the fun of the game. How can I upgrade? without overkill. Are amd from these days worse than Intel? will an Intel 4th gen perform better than the 8350?

She has 32 GB RAM and a RTX 2080, I have 16 GB RAM and a Geforce 680.

Parts Upgrade Advice Upgrading entry-level PC for rpcs3/xenia and several AAA games up to 2020

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
GPU: RTX 3050 8GB
RAM: 32GB DDR4 single-channel
Storage: 2TB nvme

So far I only play abandonware and indie games but I'm interested in 7th gen emulation and two recent AAA PC titles: Cyberpunk 2077 and Project CARS 3
When it comes to RPCS3 I wanna play Gran Turismo 5/6 and maybe some other games I can't think of rn
Regarding Xenia I wanna play Forza Motorsport 3/4 and original Saints Row

What CPU/GPU do you suggest and which one to upgrade first if limited budget?
Also are there possible workarounds/tweaks for current setup in case I'm unable to find a decent CPU/GPU?

Parts Upgrade Advice 3060 or 3060 Ti for 4K?

Yes, I’d repeat, 4K, 2160p. At this scenario, which one should I prioritize? A portion of VRAM or still raw performance all the way? Both are used and are gonna need some aggressive upscaling anyways (performance to ultra performance).

Games I’d be playing on my dad’s TV would be mainly FC26 and FiveM (GTA V Online). But I wanna try RDR2, Hogwarts Legacy, KCD, The Witcher, Yakuzas, Elden Ring, Watch Dogs, Personas, Minecraft with shaders, and InZoi.

Let me know what you think!

Current rig: 7500F, GTX1070, 550W PSU.

Parts Upgrade Advice RX 570 + i7 2600 extremely low FPS in Battlefield 6 (around 17 FPS, drops to 7-10 in fullscreen)

Hey everyone, I need some help.

I have an AMD RX 570 4GB, Intel i7-2600, and 20GB RAM.
I recently bought Battlefield 6 (RedSec) and the FPS is extremely low — around 15-17 FPS, even on Low settings.

Some observations:

  • GPU usage: 99-100%
  • CPU usage: only 30-50%
  • When I look at the sky or walls, FPS temporarily goes up a bit.
  • Power supply: 600W 80+
  • Tried DX12 and DX11 (forced launch option -dx11), updated AMD driver to 25.8.1, rolled back to 24.7.1, cleaned drivers with DDU — nothing helped.
  • All graphics settings are on Low.
  • Other games run fine on this PC.
  • I’ve seen people online with worse CPUs and weaker GPUs getting 40-50 FPS on this game.
  • What’s even more confusing is that a GTX 750 Ti runs the game faster than my RX 570 setup — here’s a video as proof:
  • When I play in fullscreen, FPS drops even lower — around 7–10 FPS, even in the main menu.

I suspect it could be:

  • Poor optimization for RX 570 / AMD GPUs
  • A bug in the new RedSec update
  • VRAM / shader limitations

Does anyone have the same experience? Or any workaround to improve FPS on RX 570?
Thanks in advance!

Parts Upgrade Advice Are +60Hz monitors really worth it?

Hey, I was saving some money to buy a new monitor (my actual monitor is from an office setup. 20" 60Hz) and my dream monitor was something like 24", curved, 144Hz, GSync or somthing like that, etc.
But now that I have the money, I realize that I don´t need such specifications. Mainly because I don´t play competitive games AT ALL. Maybe Fortnite with some friends every once in a month, but just for fun.
I wanted to buy a monitor to play silksong the best way. But I don´t want to waste my money on 144Hz that I would never really use in Black Mesa or Dark Souls 3 with my 1050ti lol
Because that's the kind of games that I play
I already know that the difference between 100Hz and anything more than that is pratically imperceptible
I want to be very clear here I want the opinion of singleplayer-games-players. What is the size of your monitor? Also I usually play at less than 60cm from the screen.
What is your screen frequency and how you feel about it?
Thanks! :D

Edit: Sup, I've just bought a second-hand monitor. 24", 1080p, 100Hz, freesync It's strange. After playing and living for over 8 years with the same 20 inch. monitor, the 24" one seems gigantic, but it's awesome to play I've been testing it in some games like Hades, Hollow knight, Dark souls and Stardew valley Stardew valley is locked at 60fps, but the change from 20" 768p to 24" 1080p it feels so good. I had a problem in dark souls, I configured it to 100fps max, but it only shows 60, and I need to turn vsync, but I can't. I have to do something to turn on the freesync on? In Hades and Hollow knight works perfectly, I'm afraid that I'll get too used to 100fps and I'll see 60fps as so slow.

Parts Upgrade Advice I have an old PC from 2014, I only use it to play games from 7-8 years ago and it’s fine for that. It struggles with emulation though. What would you recommend I change in regards to motherboard, cpu and ram?

CPU AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
SSD Sandisk Solid State Drive 128GB 2.5“ Solid State Drive
HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Add Additional Storage
Video Card Zotac GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card
Case Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply Antec High Current Gamer 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive LG GH24NSBO DVD/CD Writer
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)

These are my current specs. i know emulation is mostly CPU based and the FX8320 isn’t great for it. I want to change the Motherboard, RAM and CPU. Graphics card also but at a later date. Although I did find a GTX 980 4GB GDDR5 for £45 in my local CEX, I could get if that’s worth picking up but I don’t know how big a difference it would make.

I probably need a new PSU too with the age of it, but I haven’t had any issues with it so far. i have a PS5 so I don’t need something that can play modern games. It will just be for older games, emulating and some indie stuff on Steam, but those are usually quite low spec anyway. I’d want to keep the current case too.

It struggles with PS2 which is why I want to upgrade, but if it could do PS3 too that would be great. I’m not sure how powerful a PC you need for that though. It also upgraded to Windows 10 currently.

Thanks :)

Parts Upgrade Advice GPU is very weak, get a new pc or just upgrade?

So, i recently realised my pc has a VERY weak GPU, and when i say very, i mean it.

My CPU and the rest are okay since I've upgraded my SSD and gotten +8GB ram additional to the 8 it already had.

Now, considering my pc is pretty old, (like, it was bought in 2015) I'm not sure whether it's worth buying a new one altogether or just upgrading the GPU.

I keep in mind I'm too young to have a job just yet so I'm relying on pocket money to get anything which makes saving up significantly slower imo, and I'm looking for something that would certainly be below 700€ if it were a new pc

My build is:

CPU: intel core i5 6500 3.6 GHz RAM: 16 GB SSD: ≈500 GB GPU: intel HD Graphics 530

I don't really know where to find the motherboard model or any additional info to be honest, please guide me if something necessary is missing that i don't know of

Edit: i forgot to mention it's a pre-built Fujitsu Esprimo P956 which I think has a PSU of 250-280W
