Lately, Iāve noticed a repetitive trend flooding this subreddit: a surge of posts fixating on the "sexualization" of female characters in PTJās work. It has reached a point where these critiques feel less like genuine media analysis and more like low-effort bait for engagement or a thinly veiled attempt to push a specific narrative.
It is worth asking why there is an insistent demand for "strong female fighters" within the context of a gritty, hyper-masculine gangster manhwa. When a creator is operating within a specific genre framework, forcing an external standard of representation often ignores the narrative intent. Furthermore, the hyper-scrutiny applied to every single panel featuring a female character has become exhausting. If the community is going to react with bad-faith allegations every time a female character appears, one has to wonder: is it even worth it for the author to include them at all?
Iām opening this up for discussion because I came across another post today that perfectly encapsulates this frustration. I intend to break down those arguments and address the absurdity of the current discourse.
Let me read her lines and respond...
"Genuinely wtf, last time i made a post complaininh about this issue sexualizing female fight scenes, many of u said that it's a small matter and I'm exaggerating."
Well, its not just exaggerating but its severe exaggerating... 99% people don't care AND it's just artistic choices.. you can always drop the manhwa if you don't like it.. complaining about something so useless is peak reddit behaviour ngl
"Whenever this eunha bih uses technique, they always show these kind of panels, it doesn't make sense..like u guys should had BELIEVED ME !!!"
Lets say you proved that ptj did this on purpose.. so what? Nothing changes... we still appreciate the art and panels
"Like... Can someone just explain how do they even RELATE!?"
It's just artistic choices.. many male characters' torso is shown during power up and no one cared... its just a female torso
"I'm just mad Abt people who made me the weird one complaining Abt this sexualized manhwa females,"
I mean.. you are weird tho... show me one relevant dude in lookism with realistic proportions and maybe I'll hear you out
"it steps the fun away, and NO I don't want another person commenting some weird manhwa panels stating that it's for fan service,"
Oh really? So what are you doing now?... yest it takes the fun away and yes you are just another person complaining about something useless like ts.. honestly even taking your time to focus on this panels and making a legit post on ts says a lot about you ngl...
" I know and it's disgusting using visual appeal to get fans, it's such a pathetic and cheap way to climb to the top."
Okaaayyy... but who decided that... you probably meant to say you "think" this is disgusting but it really isn't..
Lets see what fanservice means...
Fan service is any materialāsuch as a scene, character cameo, or inside jokeāintentionally added to a movie, show, or game purely to please the audience, rather than to advance the plot. It originated in Japanese anime and manga, and can range from visual titillation to nostalgic easter eggs.
See? Its not soke evil conspiracy... fan service is just fan service and it doesn't even affect the story because mostly its less than 0.001% the story and you may not even notice it...
It's really important to always downvote such performative posts complaining about sexualization and stuff and then posting that exact panel to get upvotes...
The performative post fatigue is so real duh... its always artists job to make characters aesthetically pleasing and appealing so more people read and watch.. and ts is not cheap or disgusting... if it eas then every pieace of media is cheap for using attractive actors, art or pretty proses or good music...
